It's amazing how many people were questioning A Thomas even being on the team 7 days ago and now they want him to start! People, use your brains! Willis is a very good back. I think the coaches will use AT to give Willis a breather and as a change of pace--and that's how he is best used. They are two different types of runners and that should help keep the defenses more off balance. Hey, be happy we have two good backs. Do you want Sammy Morris as your number 1 back? Remember those days?

He plays tough and is a very good player we have at a reasonable price. I'll take him anyday. I don't know what the critics want? There is no Bruce Smith in the league right now, so you're not going to get him. Mario Williams costs more than our DE and our DE is better right now.

I agree. A QB draw would have been a nice call on that third and 8 that led to a safety. A safe call that may have caught them off guard and a chance to pick up a few yards. It is a great way also to stop a pass rush. Bootlegs, roll-outs etc.. help keep a pass rush off balance. I think as the coaches get a better feel for the team and JP we will see this.

NOT knowing it is 4th and 1 is inexcusable. I thought he a very good game up until that point. But he needs to get a head on his shoulders.

14-2 edge in penalties. B. friggin' S.

It's amazing the Bills played the Pats in Foxboro to a 19-17 loss when the team they played "played" flawless error free no penalty football. When was the last time you saw a game where a team had NO penalties--other than an illegal sub. No holding, no offside, all penalty free blocks, all penalty free running into the kicker/punter. Simply amazing! Do you think we get those calls here against the Pats in October? Not a chance! -
The two rookies played great--especially against the best QB in the league. Also one of the best TEs in the league. That, my friends is encouraging.
-
The Bills self-destruct again--stupid penalties. Hey, you can't expect McGee to run one back every time. He had one real nice return. This is where we can see a difference--old Bills vs. New Bills?
-
Nice D call to make them call TO--hopefully that will hurt them later! Go Bills D!!!
-
Need a drive and a score--even a FG. We are still winning. If you gave all of us the option of being up 17-14 at the end of the third quarter I think we would have all taken it. Is it the same old Bills finding a way to lose or do they toughen up and win?

Expect the Pats to make some adjustments but the keys are that their WR corps is somewhat suspect given Troy Brown is their best WR. If the Bills can keep a double digit lead and make the Pats throw I think that is to the Bills advantage.

You can do A LOT when you get pressure with 4 guys!
-
Let's wait til after the game guys---but, hey, what a great half! It's so refreshing not to be blitzing 75% of the plays running past the screens etc.. Hopefully thtey keep it up. Kudos to the DL for making some adjustments and playing better against the running game. Also nice to see Whitner come up and make some nice hits. Wire should be on ST, and that's it.
-
Coy Wire is a horrible defender. Very good ST player, real bad defender. I'm afraid this will be the theme all year with the DL. Just not big enough and too many missed tackles.

Can we concentrate on the season and forget about the drafts. Who cares if a 7th round pick is a pro bowler and a 1st round pick is a bust. As long as the team has players who win, who cares???? Who was the Pats 1st round draft pick the year that Brady was drafted (as a 6th round pick)? Who cares, if you have good players who cares when they were drafted.

I heard Marv was bringing in Derrick Holmes

That's probably how veterans felt prior to the preseason and he is still holding onto that belief, but now the players aren't. After viewing the preseason you have to come to the conclusion that JP won the battle. Now, let's hope he maintains playing well without the turnovers. If he plays horribly against the Pats then the controversy comes back again. If he does just okay, then there is no controversy.

King and Baker are decent players who give you very good depth and you don't worry about going into a game. I think a big reason they kept Vincent was because they are starting a rookie SS. Having his experience back there helps.
-
Fred LOVES his Pats---but if you were a commentator who had to report on a team that won 3 of the past 5 SBs it would be hard not to like them! Face it--they have been the best team in the NFL for the past 5 years. I wish the Bills were the Pats.
-
His downfall was not his picking talent it was choosing GW and MM over the likes of John Fox, C Weis, etc... He picked some of the worst head coaches in the franchises' history. That was the problem--and it was a BIG problem. 31-49 is all that matters.

I like Nate but if he has another season like last season let Washington overpay (again!) for a player. They can give him a 15M bonus and 7-8M/year.
-
I agree that it doesn't have to be a local owner. As long as they are committed to the Bills I'm all for them.

It is soooo nice to have a coach who has mastered the English language. Listening the last couple years has been painful. He is also honest and I like what I've seen of him so far--a lot. Very refreshing change, and I was not a big fan of the hire at first, but then again I knew very little about the guy.

Even though the team is "worth" 759M that is hardly what he makes on the team each year. He probably takes about $2-5M/year in profit for him which with a $759M company is very small. Owning a team is something for personal enjoyment and not to make a buck. That is actually a popular misconception that these guys are making millions and millions for themselves. Many players actually make more than many of the owners. The owners were independently wealthy to begin with, they didn't become rich by owning the team. The way they become rich is by selling the team. Much the same way people are "rich" by owning an appreciated home. You may have paid $200K and now it is worth $800K, but you do not get wealthy until you sell the assett. Unfortunately for WNY the more it appreciates the tougher it will be for anyone in WNY to buy the team. That doesn't mean it won't stay here, it just means you may have a group of owners from NYC.

That $2M coordinator and 700K DB coach are money well spent. We'll have to see how they do this year not just preseason, but it is amazing. I actually got to like GW more the longer he was here, he became more humble. I hated the way he came in promising championship football, getting rid of "fat players" like Big Ted and then having an awful team for 2 years (with one average team thrown in). It's amazing how he coaches one defensive strategy blitzing constantly. Maybe he'll have to tailor the D to the talent or lack thereof of the skins. I wonder if all the people clamoring for us to spend so much more money on a D coach have changed there mind a bit. You need a good coach, not a superior paid one. After a certain amount there is a diminishing return and even negative return if you give all the money to one guy (coach/player/whover).

This has to be a joke, right????
