US is accused of running Prison Ships
Ray replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Boo hoo....some of the world's most violent terrorists on prison ships....and that is a bad thing??? -
Let the facts of the case come out first people. What we do know is that someone in a vehicle registered to Marshawn hit or brushed up against someone on Chippewa and Delaware Ave. Anyone who has ever driven a car, made a turn and a pedestrian comes across could have someone brush against their car. It was very unlikely a head on hit as they could not have driven away as they would have driven over the person. Whoever was driving may not have even realized they nicked someone. The fact the person was ambulatory, walked into the ambulance, then into the ER and was released quickly suggests it was a little tap. Thankfully for this woman it was not serious which is the most important thing of this story. I'm sure Cellino and Barnes will get involved later, however, they would have to demonstrate some damage to this woman which a thigh contusion does not qualify. I think the Buffalo News had this story pegged correctly on page 3-4 of the City/Local section in a brief paragraph as overall it seems like a non-story in the end. A hit and run where someone is hit hard, sustains injuries that are obvious is a whole different story. Anyone ever get nicked in a parking lot?? That's basically what happened here most likely.

Senator Campbell is bang on: NFL bad for Canada
Ray replied to buffalobillsfootball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The pessimists seem to always forget that there is a huge contingent north of the border VERY opposed to any NFL team there.........do you think most Canadians want an NFL team at the dissolution of their own league? Do you think the taxpayers of Canada want to finance a $1B dollar stadium so that it can be half filled when they stink and only corporate types go to the games? Again, as I have said before the Bills are going nowhere but Buffalo!!!!! There are too many hurdles to move to Toronto. Yes, they can sell tix at $200/seat now because it is an event! Do you think the Sabres would sell out The Ralph like the Winter Classic if they played 20 games there? Of course not....you can fill a place a lot easier if it's an event. How about those Blue Jays.....they draw real well. Not sure all Torontonians want another average team at the expense of a lot of other things. The Bills are staying in Buffalo. They will be profitable....granted not Jerry Jones or Bob Craft profitable but the next owner may not need to be profitable at the tune of $30M/year...maybe its $15M/year. Yes, the Bills stay. Sorry for all the fatalistic types out there. The sky is not falling. Buffalo will stabilize and is well positioned to be the mid point of the third biggest mega-opolis in North America from Rochester to Toronto. That's a lot to draw from people!!! -
He better look for a job then if the Bills leave! What is he going to do for 6 months out of the year? Talk Bandits, women's college tennis etc......Face it, football is by leaps and bounds the biggest sport and Buffalo has a team that people in the area absolutely love. I knw everyone likes to talk gloom and doom...but the Bills are NOT going anywhere....ever!!! They will stay in Buffalo. I remember getting here in the 90's and it was the same thing. Then Flutie magic took over and the suites were sold etc....... There are enormous markets like Dallas and Washington and New York. But the majority of markets in the NFL are like the Bills. Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, NO, Jacksonville, Miami, Baltimore, Oakland, Seattle, etc,,,,,do you think those markets can charge 50 Million worth of luxury suites a year? Sorry for ranting...but I agree Schopp has got to get off his anti-NFL rant and accept it that it is THE number one sport around and not hockey. I like the Sabres too, but if the Bills go say goodbye to a lot of Buffalo history, pride etc.....People identify with the Bills.

The Bills are NOT moving to Toronto. I know everyone here loves to be fatalistic and a complete downer.....yes the sky is falling. The Bills were supoosed to be in Toronto in '97...oops it did not happen. The Bills will stay in Buffalo...relax. Yes, it is true they cannot make as much money as other cities but they can make money. I do agree nobody will be able to build a new stadium as that helps them as there is no debt service on the stadium. The Bills playing a game or two in Toronto is all the vast majority of people in Canada and Toronto want as well....it makes it an event and not a threat to the CFL. Do Canadians want the CFL to crumble once an NFL team invades Toronot....will Canadians support a 1B stadium for a sport with lukewarm support in the country? How do the Jays draw?

ESPN radio discussed possible teams moving to LA
Ray replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are NOT going anywhere.....will people please drop it!!!!! 10 years ago they were moving and then Flutie saved the franchise. Everybody relax.....they are not moving. Rochester Buffalo/NF and So Ontario (not including Toronto) is over 3 million people. Toronto taxpayers gonna say yes to a 1B+ stadium to build and then sell seats for in a market with questionable interest. RELAX!!!!!!!! -
Two N.F.L. Owners Choose Vanity Over Money
Ray replied to buffalobillsfootball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills may be able to get 2-3M/year for naming rights......okay that will add a second tier free agent.......it is not going to generate big income, sorry! -
kinda surprised there are no comments here on the presser
Ray replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought that was an interesting example of how things are run there now. Levy accepts the input from his coaches and scouts and that seems to be a great quality. And we got both players and they both played well as rookies. -
Relax----he is very quick to praise the people of WNY and the fans. He is from NYS and went to Binghampton and his daughter went to Cornell was he was in upstate NY a lot. When I lived in DC and he had his local sports radio program there he would have Larry Felser on and say little jokes about the weather but would then follow that up with glowing comments about the place and the people. Hard to praise the weather here now when it is yet again 10+degrees below normal. Although throughout hte northeast and midwest it is miserable but I digress. Although Al Gore would have a very hard time convincing anyone around here that it is warming given that it has consistently been 10-20 degrees BELOW normal since January.

Why bring something to the waterfront (built resembling the old canal buildings) that would bring people there? Here we go again--the idiots stop progress yet again. What are they proposing gets placed there? And news flash--nobody comes to the area to get a feel for the old Erie canal except for maybe 5 or 6 history buffs. Quincy Market in Boston (A town with much more history than any city in the country) is the biggest tourist attraction in Boston and it's done tastefully. Baltimore's inner Harbor is small but very nice.

I agree he is making the right moves and he does see the big picture. Good attitude, guys who want to be here and love football. Bring in team oriented guys and a team oriented coaching staff. From all accounts (except TKO and Williis) the atmoshere at OBD is great. The guys like each other, the coaching staff and they work hard. Californian JP was back in Buffalo at the end of Jan to start working again. Let's see how this draft goes and that will tell alot next year. Marv likes his O and D lines.
-
Nice guy, good talent evaluator. Overall good personnel moves but terrible assessment of head coaches. That was his major downfall.

Anyone here what jabari green said on the radio yet?

Sounds like a great interview---was it on Sirius? -
I guess that explains why he is in Tennessee right now.

Will me miss Fletcher and Spikes as much as Milloy and Vincent
Ray replied to Ray's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My point being---you lose some big name guys and the national media knows them well and knows what they've done in the past. Spikes and Fletcher are on the wrong side of 30. They had some great games for the Bills, but at this time I think the Bills are better off with another LB crew. I think the Bills would have kept Spkies had he not wanted to be traded. They have the room and they will pay his replacement at least 1M a year probably more. I really don't think his very manageable 4.6M salary had much to do with it. I think the fact he did NOT want to be here, was critical of all the moves (remember the criticism he had getting rid of Vincent and Milloy). We missed Vincent? Exactly! We didn't!!! -
I could see the right side of the line with Walker at RG and Pennington at RT if reports are true that Pennington really worked/is working hard this offseason.
-
Remember when it seemed the secondary would faulter because we lost our two starting safeties? Well, the same thing is happening with the LB core. Maybe we are just used to these guys being there. I would have loved Spikes to stay, but it seems he did not want to be here. I loved Milloy and Fletcher as well, but with their big names we never even went to the playoffs. Crowell was our best LB last year and Ellison played better than TKO. Point being, if you watched the Bills closely last year and the year before you have to realize they were due for an overhaul. We saw it in the safeties and now we're seeing it in the LBs.

Spikes just interviewed on Cold Pizza
Ray replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good luck to TKO--maybe he'll finally get to play in a playoff game. He definietely was one of the most liked Bills and always played hard for the team. I can see both points of views--he is coming off a major injury 2 yrs ago and will be thirty yrs old. But he is a great teammate and 2 yrs after a torn achilles injury is probably the indicator year whether or not he comes back to his prior form. Good luck to the guy. Classy and still very well liked by the fans and I would imagine the organization--even though he wanted out. -
Buffalo is not and never will be NYC, Miami or LA. That is what he wants. I get the feeling the moron never left OP. Buffalo/NF and Southern Ontario have a lot to do and also he is here for the best times of year. He should have been here March thru Jan. He could then go back to Miami Jan/Feb and part of March. Anyone who has been to Chippewa, Sunset Bay, the casinos, the jet boats, Niagara on the lake, NF during the spring/summer/fall knows it is a great place!! Let me tell you, if you lived in Foxboro there is nothing to do there--OP is better than Foxboro which is closer to Providence than Boston. And whoever said Boston closes bars at 1am is correct---I just lived there for 5 years. If you are lazy, intellectually challenged like Mr McGahee then living in your suburban house in OP will be boring for a young single guy. However, it does not take much, especially when you have the money to do it to have fun in WNY--especially given the fact you are there as a football player for the best months weather wise. Kelly, Thomas, Bennett, Moulds etc... all found plenty to do. I've lived in DC and Boston which are terrific cities with a lot to do---but somehow I don't see Willis spending time at the Smithsonian exhibits, the Memorials etc... What he is interested in is hanging out with movie stars, models etc... But Willis--you are not going to get that in Baltimore either!

My Turn: Moving Back East; Heading Back Home
Ray replied to buffalobillsfootball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Dean, Iknow NF VERY well. It is an absolute shame that one of the seven natural wonders of the world is such a pit! Look across the river and it is thriving. When I was over the border there were 5 Starbucks within about a 3block radius similar to what you see in NY, Boston and DC. Not that Starbuck's means you're thriving but it is an indication that the area is thriving to support the business. The anti-casino gang can protest all they want but the Senecas are the only ones to do anything worthwhile there in about 15 years!!! There are plans for another hotel there and more. The city really needs an enema and then to be re-built! -
Character doesn't matter. This type of thing is great for a team to deal with--his teammate I'm sure love answering all the questions about Barnes. Chemistry and character are apparently very over rated to many on this board. How would they like this guy?

My Turn: Moving Back East; Heading Back Home
Ray replied to buffalobillsfootball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It's amazing the gravitational pull of this place! But on days like today when I'm walking the dog in the morning and it's sunny and almost 60 it seems great. The people, the sense of community, the pride do make this city unique. In regards to the weather--it definitely gets you down Jan through March! But live in the midwest, northeast/New England or Pacific NW and you'll get the same thing. -
NFL Live just murdered the Bills offseason moves
Ray replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A good RB--how about average. An average MLB and a very good CB. If you lose the 20th or so ranked RB it will not matter. Adam Schein on his Sirius NFL show said exactly that today. They were actually very complimentary of the Bills and said it was a good move and A-Train will get you 990 yards, so you do NOT lose a thing with losing Willis. -
Jake Delhomme=NFL Europe Kurt Warner=Arena Hey, this guy may be a good change of pace/third down back
