If Buffalo were warm year round...
Ray replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Even if Buffalo had the weather of say Washington DC it would be a very popular place to live. Geographically it has a lot to offer with the lakes and all the outdoor activities. With an extra 2-3 mos a year to enjoy the lakes that would be huge. The Sun Belt has seen huge growth for a reason.....it is warm and it is easier to live in warm weather. I personally think it is really the longevity of the winter and cold weather. We will have snow thru April and this winter November was terrible so that is a long time to deal with this. If you could consistently count on 50 degree days in March like in DC and mid Atlantic that makes things very tolerable. I think it really would be a very desirable place and would probably triple the population if we had better weather.......or cut the drastic winter by two-thirds. -
Many Reports that Michael Huff to be cut
Ray replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very true....what you want is value. Whether it is an NFL player, home or a stock you really want value in the end. Huff's play is poor for a 6M/yr player but at 1.5M you can tolerate it and even be content with the play. -
This is the type of guy the Bills need and should want on the team. A great back-up who could start in this league but plays many roles on the team. He is a team player and will work hard for the team, unselfish, and most importantly is a great player you can get for a reasonable dollar figure for the next 4 years. The Bills do not break the bank at all for giving the guy 2-3M a year for 4 years. Who was more usful for the Bills last year F Jackson, Kelsay, Schobel or Dockery? Certianly the Bills can pay the guy for all his contribuations to the offense and ST.

Many Reports that Michael Huff to be cut
Ray replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ennjay is absolutely right....Mike Williams, Huff, Vince Young. All top ten draft picks. From what I have heard from different NFL people....a lot of Texas players consider playing at Univ Texas the pinnacle of football. Love playing there etc....and after signing big contracts effort and focus is lacking. Certainly a generalization but tends to be something to be aware of when taking a player from Texas. -
Trent Edwards interview with Mike Francesa
Ray replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Overall I thought it was a very good interview. Actually, to me it sounds like he likes the situation here. If you ever have listened to Tom Brady he used to talk about that as well.....the fact that it is difficult to adjust to new environments/city etc...Foxboro Massachusetts is not exactly a thrill seekers paradise. Closer to Providence than Boston and for those of us who have lived in Boston Foxboro to Boston during rush hour could take as long as the drive from Buffalo to Syracuse. I think for Trent Buffalo is an ideal situation and it sounds like he knows that and likes the environment and the people. The New York media does always make it sound like nothing goes on here, small market etc....however, they do fail to realize Buffalo is within an hours drive of about 10 million plus people so it's not like we are in Siberia here. From the sounds of it I do not think Trent would really like to play in New York or a real big city (NY/DC) especailly with those media types. Thanks for posting the interview. -

Talk about bust! Still young though and may develop if in a better situation. -
Nobody LOVES cold weather. Ask Jim Kelly etc...all of the other QBs that have played here. They would rather have played in a dome or in 80 degree weather.....Kelly has said that in prior interviews. Much easier to grip a ball, throw etc....

If JP was any good he would have established that over 5 years of ample opportunity. If he is in a Battle of the Stars competition against many QBs where he just has to be an athlete and run and jump he would be very good. But that is not football. He lacks the mental ability to process things quickly, read defenses and make smart decisions. That has not gotten better with experience, it has actually regressed. Any team watching film on him has him pegged as a number two or three. You can get a free agent or later round QB like Drew Willy and expect the same product. JP....nice guy but a bad QB. Major whiff and bust by the Donahoe regime.

Rochester officer shot in head with back turned
Ray replied to HelloNewman's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The kid has been thrown out of his family and school and school/residence for troubled youth, AND cowardly shot a police officer who was walking away from him? Do you honestly think he can be rehabilitated or even have the opportunity given what he has done. People should think more about the poor officer and his family than this piece of trash kid. -
I really hope two QBs go in the top 10....makes it very likely we get a top tier DE or DT.
-
Wow do I hope JP goes to the Jets. Two more wins for the Bills next year baby!!!
-
No thanks for a QB that has started about 11 games and that is his football experience at QB? He will likely end up going late 1st round as that is a HUGE concern for many teams. If you want him to sit for 2-3 years and learn then maybe.....but what a waste of a 1st round pick that would be. There will be plenty of available players there for the Bills.

If you want the offense to flourish a grreat TE makes this offense very good. We also need a very good DE opposite Schobel and I agree that is priority number one. An OLB as well will help. But if you add three positions in this offseason that will make a big difference you add DE, TE and OLB and this team is a contender. I really like our secondary. I like Stroud in the middle with SChodel coming back and Mitchell and Poz. But a playmaker DE with a playmaker OLB and I think you can see this deefense as great.
-
Most importantly we are better than three years ago because we have a better QB plain and simple. Of course you always need upgrades every season but we need much less than we did 3 years ago. Our QB was JP Losman 3 years ago. Enough said. Listen to people around the league talk about JP and they consider him terrible. TE is an obvious upgrade but that is not saying a lot right now. Let's see how this season plays out. If he plays consistent then he is a top 10 QB.....10-0 when his QB rating is over 80.

Rochester officer shot in head with back turned
Ray replied to HelloNewman's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The kid should rot in jail for life....he can NOT be rehabilitated. He is a thug and it is a crime that he will be out in 10 years and the officer will likely be in a vegitative state forever if he does live. -
I understand and physically ache for you as I understand the awful decision that confronts you. Just understand whatever you decide, you are doing it because you believe that is what is best for your pet. You have provided a loving environment for your pet. It is such a personal decision. It is never easy, and as you can see so many of us have been through it and it is awful but over time you do just appreciate how lucky you have been to have that pet in your life. They provide more love than most humans. They certainly teach us how we really should live our lives many times.

We are much better positioned in terms of the team as a whole. I think most reasonable fans would agree if that we have a legitimate TE and another DE this team is a contender. We had every position as an unknown 3 years ago. Adding 2 impact players helps this team out a lot.

Detroit Businessman looks to regionalize Bills
Ray replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Move the stadium to Niagara Falls but still call them Buffalo Bills........still makes it easy to get to the games for everyone. Easier for the Canadians but keeps the history of the franchise as well. Rochester folk will come regardless if in OP or NF as will Buffalo. -
They are both overpaid but welcome to the NFL. That is what happens in today's game. You could make an argument to cut Kelsay but you need a replacement and the bills are 25M+ under the cap.

Whitner is a VERY good player. He has not made many huge plays yet but how many of the elite safeties were lining up playing the 3rd corner and man to man on slot receivers this year for 3-4 games. He is only in his 3rd year and is a major leader on that team. They drafted him that high b/c they knew he was a student of the game and a very good player. That combination will pay off for this team. There are very few players in the league who would have been playing a few weeks after a 3rd degree AC (shoulder separation). This guy will pay off for the Bills. If you ask people wo know football around the league they place him in the top 10 safeties in the league. Give him another year and you probably will be able to place him in the top 5. He is only 23 years old! He will be a GREAT player in this league.
-
Look on this board and this thread and some have labelled him a bust. Listen to WGR and people are calling him a bust. My point is that those people are idiots for judging him after 1 year. He has talent and can be a game changer.....just needs time nice dozens of other WRs in this league.

Gandy is a very good guy and an average LT. I was pulling for him though....has nice things to say about B'lo.

Mike Francesa on WFAN says Kelly does not...
Ray replied to JPDontletthedoorhityourars's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Simms is 50% the QB Kelly was.....Francesa is a portly blowhard who knows little about sports and is probably one of the most annoying commentators ever. -
For those calling Hardy a bust......he had the same amount of TD catches as Santonio Holmes did his rookie year. Steeler fans were calling him a bust as well. Give it time people...I hope Hardy ends up as much of a bust as Holmes. Give James some time people. The guy can play and has a very good attitude.

For all of you who said Gandy would be better than
Ray replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peters is NOT a 8-10M/year LT yet....he just isn't. If he will sign for 6M a year get the deal done, but I do not see him signing a deal for 6M/year. You can get the production he gave you last year for 1-2M. He was ordinary last year and nothing more or less and was the LT in the NFL who gace up the most sacks. That is NOT a shutdown LT. If he was smart he should sign a very good deal paying him around 6M per year but people saying just pay him have to realize he and his agent want close to 9-10M per year. His play has in no way justified that. Pay Haynesworth to come here 9M/year. Now that guy has played to that dollar value. Stroud and Haynesworth up front would add playoff potential immediately to that team.
