  1. I encourage the Bills to take a look at B'gals WR Kelley Washington, Tenn. With a caveat. He dropped to the 3rd round in 2003 - neck injury that proved to be no problem, and attitude. He's a UFA now - so interested parties no longer have to cough up a 3rd. Plus: He's big - 6'3", 218 lb. Has competitive speed, hands, and moves. Hits opponents. He's grown up - his snotty attitude has been replaced with hard play. Minus: He suffered a bad hamstring injury in game 5 last season. He was kept on the roster, and tried to make a go of it around game # 12, but couldn't. If he recovers, he could go quickly in the FA derby. http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396119
  2. They already do...vote to grab people's money. Here in Hamilton County, OH, they vote in droves for things. We have something like 7 levies, not to mention that stupid football stadium (far and away the most heavily-subsidized - 95%). Result being that the county's tax burden is twice that of any other OH county save one (Cuyahoga Cty - Cleveland - same boat) - so the tax base disappears, and the folks who pay not a lick demand even more free $$$. Like our homeless advocates, who claim Cincinnati has 80,000+ homeless. We would be tripping over them if that was so. If you press them, they admit they arrive at that figure by counting individual visits to shelters. By their math - one fellow stopping in 15 times a month = 15 homeless. If he keeps it up for a year, they therefore with straight face say that there 180 homeless folks.
  3. If you are any type of coach, you tell them at every level to run like h*ll and try to score if you get a defensive turn over. I certainly understand a knock-down, but I'd rather have my defenders try to bring the battle to the opponent regardless of circumstance. Errors that are made in a blink of an eye are to be forgiven.
  4. Did you take your spoiled son?
  5. Me either. I expect a DB to try for the big play after a pick. No balls, no glory...
  6. Shottenheimer's teams, through the years, have played hard. I know of no club that he has coached that hasn't done so. I've not heard a single player bad-mouth him. Ever. He has suffered bad luck, made his share of bad calls, or his staff has. But he is no bum.
  7. All season long...all teams. NFL doesn't want games to exceed time limits...hurts the local affiliate, delays previously-scheduled non-NFL shows. $$$ are first with the NFL... They went ape a couple of years ago after NE mugged IND, but found out that their reactionary over-emphasis on pass interference made the clock unduly tick. I also note the muzzling of the commentators.
  8. I would be proud to live in Texas. My favorite State.
  9. God loves us, so he gave us the grape.
  10. R.I.P. RIP, lower-case, is wine-related.
  11. Yep...race car drivers are really tremendous athletes...miles of intense concentration, constantly bombarded by and fighting high g-forces, competitors trying to cut them and gain a second or two advantage, high cabin heat, and so forth.
  12. R.I.P.
  13. Yep. Spikes is not a MLB. Were I to change his role, I'd think about a situational blitzer. Something the Bills don't have.
  14. WMG is an adequate NFL running back. They are in good supply. He's also a selfish, thick-headed, young blot. In a society dripping with divorce, parents of either sex suiting themselves to detriment of their whelp, he gains notoriety having fathered 3 children with 3 stupid women. The players of the NFL get paid exceptionally well. A salutory situation, plenty of advantage, to do right. The fans that make that possible have expectations..no one expects a saint; but not being a crumb...yes. I'm inclined to let him walk after next season. I don't see any expectation of stellar performance on the horizon, personally or professionally...
  15. Yep. It ain't rocket surgery.... Bad game-day coaching is all over the NFL, IMO. I have shaken my head all season-long about the dumb calls, time management, not throwing the red flag or throwing it with little chance of reversal, clubs still in the game going for it on 4th on the opponent's 40, countless seconds off the clock due to indecision, abandonment of a running game...and the ever-present - cowardly - invoking of the prevent defense only to see the opposition march down and kick a winning field goal. There was a short blurb in the local n'paper here...Billichek had a DVD produced and placed before all player's lockers after they knocked off NYJ. It contained extensive footage on BAL players that the individual NE players would likely be facing.
  16. Don't forget to get your passport by Jan. '09...
  17. Gonzalez is a smart youngster...a 4.0 - type. He agonized about declaring for the pros'. To my view, he's a hard worker - sort of in the Wayne Cherbet mold. Has good speed, moves, etc., and comes back into play to help out a QB. Pittman is a decent rb. Seems to block ok, and has good wheels. I'd guess those two, and QB Smith, C Doug Datish and DT Quinn Pitcock are under good consideration by several pro clubs. Worrying about the team weakening isn't a factor - it's been common for OSU juniors to turn pro. They traditionally have a large talent base to pick replacements from. "Ohio State notebook Offense might take hit in draft; Underclassmen are considering heading to NFL BY RUSTY MILLER | THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Three Buckeyes left early a year ago for the NFL, with two taken in the first round (defensive back Donte Whitner and wide receiver Santonio Holmes) and another in the third (defensive back Ashton Youboty). Twenty-two Ohio State players have left school early to be a part of the draft since 1992. The list includes some of the most productive Buckeyes in the NFL: Dan Wilkinson, Terry Glenn, Shawn Springs, Orlando Pace, Nate Clements and Chris Gamble..." http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...12160387/-1/all
  18. I'd be surprised if they'd dump him for that low a pick...although they didn't use him much at all last season - 38 carries. He sure can pound the goal line.
  19. Is the Green Couch too dated?
  20. If I may act NOT my age..."word".
  21. Thanks, Ramius...I'll take you up on that offer as the draft nears.
  22. Good for Walker. I remember years ago, when Marquette center Jim Chones left early to join the NBA with a hefty contract. When asked about it, Coach Maguire remarked "I've seen the Chones' family refrigerator". Your description of Walker reminds me of the B'gals Kenny Watson. Players like that are a big asset.
