  1. ???? Iran requires unfettered sea passage. Accidents happen. Traversing the open sea, there are tragedies that sometimes never end up in an full understanding of why. England's historical and practical, and contemporary knowledge of the sea is unmatched. And their own non - Middle Eastern oil supplies that they could nationalize in a moment's notice. As well as mucking up Iranian financial transactions.
  2. My guess is that the captured Brit sailors never expected such. Probably were amicable until they suddenly got grabbed. Through the centuries, the Brits have charted most all of the ocean hazards on the useful shipping routes. From this port, and away from this port. Accidents happen.
  3. Dillon has good shoulders. Can't think why they wouldn't work to retain him if Maroney is damaged goods...
  4. Tix price rising?
  5. It's a rare team that doesn't have a 1K back. But I understand your point. I suppose he might be eventually be broken into two pieces, but I would make extensive use of Roscoe. He can jink like the injured, short career Peter Warrick could. I wouldn't hesitate to send him long, either. Roscoe can help take defensive heat off of the run game.
  6. Turn it around. If you called the shots for another team, what would you offer for TKO with injury concern, age, and existing contract buy-out??
  7. "PHOENIX - Takeo Spikes, one of the most popular players in recent Bengals history, will not be rejoining the team that drafted him. The Buffalo Bills have shopped Spikes and are down to talking to two of three teams, general manager Marv Levy said Sunday at the NFL annual meeting at the Arizona Biltmore. Cincinnati is not one of them. "We have a high regard for Takeo. But our (salary) cap room does not allow for a deal of the magnitude necessary to trade for him," Bengals president Mike Brown said. The Bills are trying actively to trade Spikes to save his $4.6 million salary in 2007, likely the last year of his Buffalo contract. The Bills have the option on 2008. The Bengals drafted Spikes with the No. 13 overall pick in 1998. He signed with Buffalo after the 2002 season as an unrestricted free agent. "It is in a delicate time," Levy said of a possible trade of the nine-year veteran linebacker. "We floated the idea to a number of teams. You could guess who would have been among them.". 8. They lost a decent CB, and were not especially pleased with the other guy. Lotsa pass plays in today's NFL, lotsa 3 wr sets. Sometimes 4. How does the Cover 2 deal with that? Needs must.
  9. Hard to think any club would deal and expend much more than a 7th for a player with injury concerns. His current club is pointing out his contract cost to them... But you never know.
  10. A reliable formula to spiff up the gate for a moribund franchise is to get a flashy RB. See CIN and Corey Dillon. And what did they do?

  12. I'll wait to hear from your parents and friends...
  13. He may be wrong. Or he may be right.
  14. I buy a couple of cans of squirt cheese and the greasiest potatoe chips I can find. And chocolate bars. The trips to the can get me off the couch from time to time. I curse, and run off a stream of commentary. I think that's universal...
  15. - facial expression at a "Baptist Window" (old southern States term - a back-of-the-building general store portal that passed the beer and liquor to the fallen faithful. ).
  16. Indeed. I've posted several times regarding Frye, and that I doubt that Quinn is in their plans as well. CLE is on tv a lot here in Cincy. Frye has skill and moxie...and unfortunately to date, another QB playing under the cloud of the Brown's long-time injury curse. The Brownies have made some decent moves in FA.
  17. The tv ad revenue is substantial. And making it exclusive to NFL Notwork would add to the NFL's rep as being grubby extortionists.
  18. Don't think so...
  19. Wire, Crowell, Ellison. Were I an opposing OC, I would notice that the combined weight of two of my bigger OLs is equal to or more than the weight of the Bills LB corps...
  20. Amazing. After killing GT in rebounds, foul shots etc. for most all of the game. That 3-point shooting...2 or 3 players, every team, season after season, paying more attention to the 3-pt line than looking for the open man.
  21. Good questions. Regarding play-offs, here are some words from Rick McKay, co-chairman of the NFL Competition Committee: "In opening his teleconference Wednesday to discuss proposed rules changes, committee co-chair Rich McKay pointed out some key statistics that speak to the league's competitive balance. In referencing re-alignment into eight, four-team divisions for the 2002 season, McKay, the Atlanta Falcons president and general manager, pointed out that 27 of 32 teams have qualified for the playoffs in those five seasons. "We've also had 22 different divisional title winners," McKay said. "So we feel very good about where the game is from the standpoint of competitiveness top to bottom.' ." Sobering... http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art.../703250420/1066
  22. Dunno...can't say that I've paid any attention to him. But PHI generally has had a decent D, and those last-season #'s are good for a DT.
