  1. We, the few, the proud, have been out here for some time...
  2. But not quite as entertaining as TD...
  3. I'd guess that could be what they receive. In '04 they had three comp picks, a 3rd rounder and two 4ths, with two that have become starters and a possibility of another.
  4. ...to be the back-up for Eli Manning. He was signed by CIN last season, as insurance if Palmer was unable to play. Wright, along with Doug Johnson played the 4 CIN pre-season games. He looked OK - good pocket presence. AFAIK, a decent guy. http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/134342 B'gals should get a fistful of comp picks next year...7 free agents, G Eric Steinbeck, WR Kelley Washington, LB Marcus Wilkins, S Kevin Kaesviharn, TE Tony Stewart, DT Shaun Smith and QB Wright leaving, vs. one signing - C Alex Stepanovich. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/nyg
  5. No, not that. The Harvard Classics were mass-produced. The bindings are tooled leather, there are parchment leaves inside the covers, the edges are gilded (sp?), and the pages themselves and the quality of the print is excellent. I know they came in various grades, and this set is one of the premium editions.
  6. I've the set - they were purchased by my Great Uncle, who was a history professor until the Great Depression struck. He ended up owing a delicatessen on Gates Circle. Their binding is exquisite. I've read most, but not all of the volumes through the years.
  7. I think one would have to up the number beyond two. Joey Porter should make the list. I don't recall the name, but SD -I believe - has a player facing some hefty charges for assault or some such. Tank Johnson's woes in CHI Not defending Henry at all - but other than brandishing a firearm in Florida, he hasn't shown any off-field violence. He's had 2 drinking charges, minor marihuana possession, and giving alcohol to a minor. And a driving while under license suspension charge pending. He was alleged to have committed rape, but it was found to be false and the accuser was charged and found guilty. The police investigated her further, and subsequently charged her with murdering a John. He is on probation in 3 States - Ohio, Kentucky, and Florida - and I assume at some point he will be incarcerated.
  8. Expand your horizons! Here's a list to get you started. http://www.bartleby.com/hc/
  9. He's pretty banged up...12 busted ribs, broken sternum, collarbone, leg. He was in the front passenger seat - they think he wasn't wearing his seat belt. He was on his way to Rutgers to share in the beating of Imus. What a thing for the Governor of a State to stick his (billionaire) nose into... I understand Hillary is going to make a visit to Rutgers to get her licks in.
  10. You forgot about them going to commercial break 3 picks before Bflo. shows up on the update crawler.
  11. Happy B'day, Fry Boy!
  12. I read 'em. Don't always agree, but so what? Keep on postin', Tipster.
  13. I wonder if CLE has any thoughts about OSU's Troy Smith as a later pick. He's from the Cleveland area, and there was a blurb in the local paper here a month and a half ago that said he was up there chatting with some Browns folks.
  14. Snobbery...same as everybody else.
  15. I'd really be surprised it they picked Quinn. I see a lot to like about Charlie Frye, but the NFL is show biz first and foremost, and Quinn translates into gate receipts and trinket sales...so you never know. It surely would be a big thing if they picked Landry...the pundits would crucify them endlessly...but their DB corps is a shambles. It would be a gutsy move, but I would understand it. I was impressed with CLE's moxie last year. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they make some noise this coming season.
  16. Possibly because the opposition chose the low risk - and clock-consuming option - of rather successfully running the ball down the team's throat?
  17. Goodbye to you . Write if you get work. 3..2..1...
  18. I'm having a hard time with CLE taking Petersen. Concerns about his injury must be considered. As well as them considering Quinn. They've made a number of bigger FA player acquisitions so far. I understand that some think HC Crennel is on the hot seat...but I get to see a lot of CLE games here, and even with their long history of injury that has spelled doom for their previous HCs, he has that club playing hard. They had their DB corps decimated last season. Granted, a stretch, but I wouldn't be overly surprised if they selected that safety, Landry. Or of course the tackle Thomas is he is available. I'd be a bit surprised to see they would trade down. 2 cents.
  19. It's always those pesky details, Ramius.
  20. You have overwhelmed me with riverman jargon...
  21. He was inactive on game day several times, IIRC. Was he also injured?
  22. We have our share here on this stretch of the Ohio river, of pleasure boaters that d*ck around with 10 barge or more coal or ore transports, to their detriment...
  23. They should pick Rutger's Brian Leonard, then. Wild Man Vick having a chap who so far as his college performance goes, gets tough yards and sucks in and tucks away most any ball thrown in his vicinity should be as Georgia peachy as it comes.
