  1. ' In camp, I'd be schooling my qbs about rollouts, and would be working on an unbalanced line to use with some frequency. Quick hit run plays, and I would also be working on (non-telegraphed!) pitchouts (with/without cutbacks) to Spiller the Speedster.
  2. I've long thought that pro football is best viewed on tv. I appreciate the "game day experience", but there you are in the end zone, or in other better seating areas with howlers and drunks standing up all game long...how much action do you see? People prattle on about sight lines to the jumbotron - for many, that's how they get to view the action! As well as the hassle of getting in and out of a stadium. Hockey, basketball, especially baseball, are best live, IMO.
  3. How do you structure a contract, with the looming possibility of no NFL football in 2011?
  4. Well - from what I've read, there is a lot of uncertainty because of the CBA rejection. There was an article in Sunday's Cincinnati Enquirer by beat reporter Joe Reedy, that said that "the main sticking point is guaranteed $, which was largely put into a 2nd year roster or option bonus. So it didn't count against the rookie signing pool. But most of those bonuses are due at the beginning of the league year, which next season very likely will be the first day of a lockout". I tried and failed to provide a link - that's the difference between inet and print - inet stuff can be pulled back, modified, can't access it, etc. Personally, if I were a #1 or #2, I'd grab as much money as I could today. A bird in the hand etc...
  5. See also Sam Adams and CIN #1 Andre Smith. Plan on game #5 until such "round" into shape. Smith played a hundred or so snaps a t RT last season. Flattened his direct opponent - how could he not, with that bulk? Still question marks about his fragile lower part coming into camp. Dumb pick by CIN, IMO...a LT??? Not yet. The other big noise that CIN passed on, Eugene Monroe, started 13 and played in 15.
  6. I use a toaster oven. I've found that opening up the door after the bars start to glow (mine keeps heating with the door open - I thought they were supposed to shut off) for 30 seconds results in toast approximating what you get at an eatery - substantial on the outside, yet not burnt.
  7. T.O. attracts three biggest Bengals By Geoff Hobson, Bengal's web site, 7/26/10 ..."At the time Bryant won a close call because of his age (29) and received a four-year, $28 million contract. But when Bryant’s injured knee flared up the last couple of weeks during last month’s workouts and he had to be backed off during a mandatory minicamp where he struggled, the Bengals began to re-think some options.:... http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/TO-a...7a-049864a31148
  8. I have a dim memory of comments about him before he was drafted.
  9. I'd build a secure underground bunker in deep, deep Appalachia, with a charming surface domicile.
  10. We shall see, but I think our upcoming opponents are rubbing their foreparts together like a fly anticipating a fresh plop of dog doo.

  14. "Fair use" of copyrighted material is a murky area... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use Here is what I do: . Clearly state the article title. Italicize it for emphasis. . Cite the author, source, and date of the original publication (e.g. by John Doe, Cincinnati Enquirer, 7/26/10). . Display a few lines of the articles' text (in quotes), to give the reader an idea of the content. Back in my day - before the inet - I was told that quoted text should be less than 100 words - the less, the better. Reflecting complete text here is wrong. And tedious to scroll through, If I may say. . Provide the original link (none of this "linky" masking stuff, please). It's my opinion that most authors don't object to the dissemination of their works, as long as it is just a "snapshot", to pique interest. The out-and-out full or substantially full re-publication is infringement. There is the occasional cry from this or that one to be allowed to add attached photos from 3rd parties to their postings. That's a big copyright no-no. stuck
  15. Elaborate, please...give examples how he did that.
  16. Here's a nice story about our betters in the public sector. They are everywhere. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-07-20/c...s-protests.html The top dog in that story will get 600K per year retirement pay. Easy to resign, eh?

  18. That's a good idea, if architecturally feasible. Be sure that the Bills agree to not control what goes on there when they don't play games before $ is spent. You've brought back a memory. I lived in the PGH area, and I recall interested parties - construction unions, the pols, the two teams crabbing about how it was in disrepair. The teams wanted more seating for the citizens to pay for. I'm not a structural expert, but I do have a reasonable eye. At the time I went to a lot of Pirate games. 3 Rivers Stadium was far from a decrepit hunk. It was a great BB stadium, with its' "in the round" seating. Fine for FB, too. They also had a great concession sales arrangement. You would pick up what you wanted from two lines starting at the extremes of the stand, then turned and paid one of the two cashiers, one per side. The sister stadium, Riverfront here in CIN, had you line up before 4 or so servers/cashiers.
  19. Interesting tale. Sadly, fame and money can turn otherwise decent folks into idiots. Nothing new there. I hope you get a decent price for that ball.
  20. Estate tax. Taxed when you made it, taxed as you invested it, those who you invested were taxed reducing your yield, then you were taxed when you spent any of it, the makers of products you bought were taxed, and finally you are taxed when you croak.
