I'm feeling better about Kordelia
sfladave replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't be thrilled to have Kordella as our #1 if JP were to go down with an injury. I would prefer him over Dumbo Fiedler, I have a hot wife Warner, I should start drinking again Collins or My wrists are not limp Garcia. There are a few advantages with Kordella, he does have a grasp of Mularkeys offense. As mentioned, the Bills wouldn't have to adjust their offense if he did have to step in for JP. He can also contribute in a slash role. He would also come cheap, I'll guess $1-1.5 million. -
Man this is friggin' exciting!!

I found the same one. Steve I think you should be careful, that jersey sure looks a lot like a jest jersey. Some rowdy and drunk fans at the game may mistake you for a jest fan. LOL -
Bills make playoffs in 2005 under JP?
sfladave replied to HurlyBurly51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I voted yes but if it were a bet I would look for some odds. 8-1 sounds about right. If your friends are patsie fans ask for 20-1. -
(LAMP)Auto care..How much should it run to replace

I just got an estimate for my 94 Buick Regal. For the struts front and rear plus a wheel alignment, it was $580. -
Who is Drew Bledsoe?

I am more inclined to subscribe to this theory. The NHL called the players bluff and I don't see how the players have any remaining leverage. What I want to know is that if some sort of salary cap is implemented what are the teams who are way over the cap going to do? I think the Red Wings were just under $80 million for 2004-05. If there is a $36-40 million cap do they have to restructure everyone or just release players?

All of the quotes I have read by AJ Smith state that he intends to keep both players this year, and may even franchise Brees again next year.

Someone please explain where all of this "JP is so fragile" is coming from. His broken leg was a freak accident. He took a beating behind a bad OL in Tulane and kept ticking.

This Game Is Driving Me Nuts...
sfladave replied to Zamboni Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You don't always need 4. When you shot the rock at the tower if you click on the spear at the right moment it will throw the rock dwn onto the landmine. Therefore you don't need the 1st catapult guy to be shot up to the tower. -
Alex Bannister WR - Free agent
sfladave replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I have to add to this is that I hate having our best cover guy returning punts. I have been pleasently bothered by the fact that both of our returners are our starting corners! I don't know what bothers me more Clements returing a punt that he should be fair catching or the fact that he is in there at all. -

The only question I might have then is why is he still available. I remember the talk about this guy last year, excellent STer, big upside but why didn't we pick him up last year? He sounded good on paper when we didn't have any returners, but now he seems like a coulda been. -
ESPN thinks Jay Fiedler might end up
sfladave replied to BF_in_Indiana's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I now undersatnd where Hollyood and Foxboro were coming from. Fiedler is to the fish what Drew or RJ were to the Bills, a lot of hype and no substance to back up the hype. His winning record was as much to his credit as Drew's was for the last half of 04. No major screw ups and a limited number of passes. Fish fans will laugh at us picking up Jay as much as patsie fans laughed at us picking up Drew. -
OK, after a self-slam Im ready for a pro-JP
sfladave replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I also cannot wait to see what JP can offer us. My hopes are high but my expectations lie somewhere in that muddy middle. I really do not see any sort of significant drop off in QB play for the first 4 games compared to last year. If JP and the Bills can win 2 of those 4, I see ourselves improved already. The question is whether or not JP can help us or hurt us in the BIG games! Drew did not help us, losing 6 of 9 games against .500 or better opponents. If JP can somehow provide some extra spark for us to win more than 50% against stronger teams I'll also say that we have improved. My biggest worry about JP is how long it will take him to develop pocket presence. JP's development could be very similar to McNabb's first couple of years, in that he is very mobile and tends to turn a pass into a run if under too much pressure. We do not need a QB who throws 80-150 yards a game while they run 20-100 yards a game. We have a very capable RB who will get us rushing yardage. The sooner JP is able to able to establish a pocket presence and learn the play action game the better. -
ESPN thinks Jay Fiedler might end up
sfladave replied to BF_in_Indiana's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you walk through Buffalo and ask total strangers, "Do you think Drew could be a capable backup quarterback?" -I would guess that 40-70% of those asked would say yes. If you walk through south Florida and ask total strangers, "Do you think Jay Fiedler could be a capable backup quarterback?" -I would guess that 0-15% of those asked would say yes. Fiedler did have a few good years, of course that was with a top 5 defense the whole time. In addition, he gets hurt every year and misses 2-7 games a year. He also hurt his throwing hand and has not produced well since. I put Fiedler in the same category as Blake, King, Brad Johnson, Rob Johnson, Leaf, Smith, Holcomb and Flutie..."The please don't associate with the Bills in 2005 catagory." -

I like his ears, they make me laugh! It is inability to run an offense without throwing dumb INTs, and an ability to think between those Dumbo flaps that has me worried. Trust me you do not want Jay as the backup or the clip board holder. -

So did Bledsoe and Testaverde. -

Obviously most people on this board have not seen Fiedler play the last 2 years. Picture Drew's capabilities and divide that by 10 and you'll have what Fiedler equals. Fiedler did have a few good seasons, but then he got hurt AGAIN, and has never been the same since. His long pass downfield looks like a slow pitch softball. The fish should have released him last year but Wanny wanted to have a vet as a starter, they then pulled him after the first half of the first game last year. I would be much happier with Kordella, Garcia or Ferrotte, and that isn't saying much. -
Well someone is looking forward to the next few weeks. LOL NJSUE might just go off the deep end...err...further off the deepend!

I think that has to do with the fact that NFL QBs have been told since they were 12 years old that they are football gods. It is hard for a lot of these players to come back to reality when they age and their ability starts to diminish.
-
I never said it was a recipe for 100% success. If you don't have someone who is a capable GM it doesn't matter how much money you throw at a problem. My point was made from the fan perspective. I want a cap for the NHL and MLB for the same reasons I like the one in the NFL. It gives all franchises an equal footing, which is good for the fans. Small market teams can make a good run, but that is the exception, not the rule. How often do the Yanks not make the post season? Compare that to any small market team and tell me this is good for MLB.
-
I thought Marino went his 2nd year, am I wrong?
-
The problem with your logic is that it does not take into account the haves and have nots. The Rangers can afford to outbid 80% of the other teams. Just picture the Yanks and Red Sox compared to the small market teams. Do you want the same thing to continue in hockey? A salary cap brings parity to a league. The NFL realized it, the NBA tried to do it and MLB and the NHL have fallen behind, and now those leagues are suffering for their stupidity.

I promise to be patient with JP

The average for the last 12 games: 178 yds/game 1.25 TDs/game 1.08 INT/game 1.58 sacks/game 75.84 QB rating The average against .500 or better clubs (we went 3-9 in those games): 189.8 yds/game 1TD/game 1.55 INT/game 2.5 sacks/game 69.7 QB rating -

I just don't think we will see a big dropoff in QB play next year with JP instead of Drew. I will consider JP's season next year a success if he is able to surpass Bledsoe's numbers which shouldn't be too hard. Bledsoe's averages for 2004: 181 yds/game 56.9% comp rate 1.25 TDs/game 1 INT/game 2.3 sacks/game 76 QB rating Averages for our wins: 185 yds/game 58% comp rate 1.6 TDs/game .55 INT/game 1.1 sacks/game 89.2 QB rating Averages for our losses: 180 yds/game 55.4% comp rate .71 TDs/game 1.57 INT/game 3.8 sacks/game 60.3 QB rating Someone please explain to me why anyone thinks we are in BIG trouble if JP gets a chance this year. He may not turn into a superstar overnight, but does anyone really think his numbers for 2005 will be a big dropoff from Bledsoe's?
