  1. But they are bright and shiny! Is my hot pocket done yet?
  2. I have heard no direct quotes from either Willis or Drew about wanting a new contract this year. Has anyone else? I am not saying that it may not happen, but right now it sounds like some sportswriter is throwing in his 2 cents. Are people jumping to this conclusion based on the KFFL article? It would be wise not to make assumptions from that.

  4. Super Bowl I was held on January 15th, 1967, the Packers beat the Chiefs. I thought it was time for something other than drafts, HCs, OCs, DCs, LTs, QBs, etc... I'll post the answers in about a half an hour. There were a few surprise answers for me. That probably translates to, “it’s from all the beer I drink on Super Bowl Sunday anomaly.” 1. Bonus Question Most loyal, screwed over, yet steadfast fans in the history of the NFL who haven't seen a playoff game much less a Super Bowl in a long time? a. NY Jets b. New England Patriots c. Miami Dolphins d. Buffalo Bills Super Bowl I was held on January 15th 1967, the Packers beat the Chiefs. The Packers collected $15,000 per man and the Chiefs $7500. These were the largest single game shares for players in the history of team sports at the time. Tickets for Super Bowl 1 were $10 a pop.
  5. I think he was talking about people within the organization that were here last year and are still here now. I'm sure that any coaches including Grey and Mularkey have given him their insight. Modrack and April have probably had their input asked for also.
  6. I have not seen the kid play much at all this year, so I am far from an authority on him. If he winds up being the real deal I hope it is us who gets because franchise LTs do not grow on trees, nor are they readily available in FA. I missed most of the 1st half and earlier threads seemed to indicate he started out well. For some reason I just get nervous when it comes to selecting an OL early in the 1st round now.
  7. D'Brick just missed his block on that TD. edit: That is 2 BIG missed blocks in the last 2 drives. 1 in pass protection, 1 running. His stock is going down.
  8. Dbrick just got toasted. The result was a big sack.
  9. Speed kills, just say no.
  10. I thought you were part of the "silent" majority.
  11. Adams is a great gap DT, he would be a terrible NT in a 3-4. His issues this year with his benchings were a direct result of his not wanting to take up a double team at the line, a prime duty of the NT. We also don't have the DEs to make that work. Small high motor guys don't cut it in 3-4.
  12. In Buffalo we'd still see them on a local channel. What would bother me if I didn't get NFLN (I do) is the Thanksgiving Day game being shown on NFLN, WAS vs DAL. That would suck.
  13. Drafting an OT with the 4th pick? It gives me a little concern.
  14. On Marv's PC anouncing him as GM he brought up this trade. He said he was completely against it, and only after Polian hounded him, including a phone call at 3am, did he give in.
  15. I haven't had a chance to see him play, BUT there seems to be a lot of conflicting reports about his ability to live up to all the hype he has been getting. The fact that most of the downside talked about is his lack of size and his run blocking ability really concerns me! As I mentioned I have not seen much of him, so I am certainly not an expert here. I would feel more comfortable with a DL with our 1st pick
  16. I believe Mularkey made some comments last year that Gates wasn't able to block effectively, especially in picking up the blitz. I would like to have seen some real game experience for this rook last year. Gates is similar in size, power and style to McGahee. Williams is good as a change of pace to McGahee, but I would hate to see Williams carrying the load for 16+ games if McGahee were to get hurt. Hopefully if blitz protection was Gates problem they'll be able to coach him up and we'll get a chance to see him perform this year. That being said I hope McGahee gets the ants out of his pants and stops the dancing around and just hits the holes. Then there will be no more talk of Gates beating out McGahee for the starting spot. A better OL will also help.
  17. You make an excellent point. I really like the way you point out how you came to this conclusion. It was thought provoking and well your insight is something to behold. Keep up the good work, you're an asset to this forum.
  18. Where is this Marv will not make a trade thing coming from? Has Marv come out and said he doesn't believe in trades? I know no one is suggesting that he has shown this tendency in his previous experience as a GM. I'm not busting your balls, I'm seriously wondering were this is coming from.
  19. Great job backing up that opinion. You're basing this on what? Inquiring minds want to know.
  20. QB - I think JP can earn the starting spot here. You could already see that the game slowed down some for JP when he came back from his benching when Holcomb got hurt against KC. I think the game will slow down even more as he gets time under center. Notice I said I "think", not I "know". RB - This was one of the biggest beefs I had with last year, we saw nothing of Gates. I don't think he was even active for most of the games. He looked good in what little I saw of him in camp and pre season. He seems like a viable alternative to McGahee in size, strength and style. I like Williams but not for a replacement to McGahee, but as a compliment. I would hate to see QWilliams take over for an injured McGahee and carry the load for 16+ games. LT - While Gandy is not a future hall of famer here, he did play adequately. The real problem with our OL was our interior. A new LG in FA is a must. Either a FA center or if he proves ready, Preston in C. Villiarial is a good RG when not playing hurt, but he was hurt all of last year and he's getting older. Either Preston here or another draft pick to back up. C - see above 2 DTs - Adams may or may not be here next year. It depends on who our DC is. If they like a DT who loves to shoot the gap they have someone who is the best in the league to do it in Adams. Either way we need a big DT in round 1 like Ngata and a FA vet pick up here. So I'm saying 2 new guys and keep Sam(if he fits a DCs scheme). 1 DE - I was a little disappointed in Kelsays performance last year. It seemed as though he took a step back from 04. I'm not sure if it was him or the way they used him last year. I wouldn't mind seeing a high motor type guy being brought in here for a change. Too bad we can't get Mario and Ngata in the draft. SS/FS - At the end of the 04 season I thought we'd be set at these positions for at least 2-4 years. Well i think I was a little overly optimistic. We need to start grooming some young guys or get a FA. MLB/OLB - These would be a low priority for me. Crowell is a natural MLB and we just extended him. OLB can be had cheap in FA. We also still have Haggen and Stamer, and we really don't know what they're capable of. K - Unless Lindel is a FA this year I wouldn't even consider a move there. I'm not sure if it was because we got the new long snapper or if he made a deal with devil , but Lindel had a really good year last year. I'd be content to sit pat. In conclusion I think we do need a lot of help, particularly on both sides of the line. I just don't think that we are as far away as you seem to think.
  21. That in itself is a scary thought. However you and I disagree on JPs chance to become a very good QB. He showed me improvement last year, especially after he came back from being benched. My reasoning of not picking up a QB and concentrate on our lines in the draft and FA this year is as follows: 1. A good OL will give us an real opportunity to evaluate JP. 2. A good OL will give us a very good running game, leading to a balanced offensive attack. 3. If JP is unable to show any sign that he IS the future of this franchise at QB we will have built a solid offensive unit that a Dilfer, Volek or Holcomb type of QB can come in a play well enough in to take us far. So there is no need to start grooming a young QB now.
  22. You're talking about the 06 phish right?
  23. I cannot understand the "judging a guy on 8 starts mentality". Would we give Cutler only 8 games to prove himself too? Perhaps we can draft 2 QBs a year until we get it right! JP didn't even get to start his games consecutively. I would like to see JP get all off the 2006 snaps behind an improved OL before we start with the back up plan. If he has the tools and is unable to produce next year then start looking for a new plan in 2007. I know everyone wants to win now, but Holcomb and most other vet QBs that will be available will not get us to the promised land in the 2006 season. Our off season priorities have to be on the lines, not QB.
  24. That's true, while Marv was a GM in the past he NEVER made a single trade! Will history repeat itself? Obviously you meant to say that if Polian or Butler were here they wouldn't trade up or down.
  25. I think that it is a tough injury to rehab from and most players do lose a little something. That being said, most players do not have the heart and intensity that TKO has. Will be back to 100% of his old self in terms of speed and lateral abilities? Probably not, but I would take him back in a heart beat even if he was just 90% of what he used to be in terms of his lateral explosiveness and speed. I know he'll still have all of his heart. I think that we will have London in the middle and our outside guys are going to be TKO and Crowell. I think Crowell did an excellent job filing in for TKO and I think he will improve next year. I wouldn't start spending early draft picks on LB this year. Stick to the lineman on day 1 I say.
