  1. That's what I'm hoping for. In fact I hope we have an OT game. Pittsburgh wins with a FG in OT.
  2. What a refreshing idea. I can't believe no one has brought this up already!
  3. Nope not the case, according to the NFLPA web site he only had a salary of $1.6 million in 2004. edit: It may have been paid to him in the form of a roster bonus instead of a signing bonus, which has an affect of how it counts against the cap.
  4. What a sneeky back door way for Buffalo to be able to host the SB! I like it, except that it gives a team who is on a roll, ie. the Patriots an advantage if they make it the following year. It's bad enough they get the officating on their side already. Perhaps the loser of the SB should be able to host it. That may have affected the outcome of several of our SB losses.
  5. I did a quick search of the QB ratings of 12 current QBs in the first year that they played in at least 4 games: JP 64.9 Eli 55.4 Bledsoe 65 McNabb 60.1 Holcomb 44.3 Brad Johnson 68.5 Brees 76.9 Leftowich 73 Plummer 73.1 Hasselbeck 70.9 Peyton 71.2 Palmer 77.3 This tells me that not all QBs start out like Marino or Roethlisberger. They all had growing pains that only went away with real game experience. Does this mean that I think JP is going to be good much less great? HELL NO! I would never claim that, just like I would never claim he is definitely going to be a bust. I will hold back from he must go until I do see him get to play more than 8 games however, especially since he did improve so much over the last 4 games compared to the first 4.
  6. I keep reading about fast DT in this topic, is that possible? Losing Pat obviously cost us dearly, more so than I thought it would. I remember after last season at either the SB or the PB TKO, Sam and one other Bill were getting interviewed and they begged TD to do anything he could to bring back Pat. I guess they knew what they were talking about. I think DT is as big a priority for us in the off season as OL help is. I wouldn't mind getting Ngata and keeping Adams. Adams is a great gap man and Ngata can tie up the line like Pat did. Also the thought of Ted Washington coming back for a year to rotate with the other guys sounds interesting to me.
  7. I'm sorry but when you post, "Which reason do you think JP will attribute his, failure for not succeeding in Buffalo?", you are begging to be ridiculed and barbed. Your post implies that JP will blame someone other than himself for his inevitable downfall. This is outrageous 2 reasons: 1. JP has never blamed anyone except himself for any of his short comings. 2. Your statement implies/assumes that no matter what JPs failure is written in stone. Now get off your high horse and deal with criticism of your post by making valid and compelling arguments. Just don't expect people not to call you on a post title like yours. BTW I understand your logic when you mention that if people are sick of a topic they would simply stop reading, replying and ganging up against those who insist on crusading. However we live in the real world and some people just can't let go of a crusade, regardless of which side they are on, especially in the off season.
  8. I think that any salary, roster bonus or signing bonus counts. That's why Winfield counted over $10 million on the figures last year.
  9. For sure, that would be like totally radical ya know. This topic makes as much sense to me as the Janikowski or Lindell one does.
  10. Who do you suggest we plug in there? Do you really think we can afford to get cheap in this position? Nate didn't have a pro bowl year but he is still one of the top CBs in the league (top 10). He got burned a few times, but so did Woodson, Bailey and every other top CB in the league. In fact someone had posted a stat that showed both Bailey and Woodson have been burned more than Nate for the last 3 years. If we upgrade our DL you'll immediately see an improvement in our whole secondary. We won't have the safeties coming up closer to the box or worse constantly blitzing.
  11. True, but they stand to make billions more over the long term. They can sell their own advertising for the NFL network. On the short term they will almost certainly increase the number of households that they are available to. They are currently available in about 40 million households, and I believe their are approximately 100 to 120 million households in the US. Viewers will demand access to the NFL network from their cable/satellite providers who are currently not offering it. This will also raise their revenues that they collect from their current advertisers.
  12. With respect to bars, Saturday nights are already selling balls out. They will make more by having it on Sunday. While I understand that many people will have to leave early to drive the kids home, you are probably the exception, not the rule. Most people that I know who have young children are watching it at home. Believe me if advertisers thought they were missing out on significant viewership by having it on Sundays instead of Saturdays it would be on Saturday.
  13. Well I'm a little confused. I couldn't decide if your friend does or doesn't like Cutler. Perhaps it is because I just read nuklz2594's "It ain't rocket surgery" post. I think I got lost trying to figure out what "I wondered how many lottery picks one team needed not to lose to Wisconsin-Green Bay in the first round of the NCAA tournament." meant.
  14. In my humble opinion we shouldn't take a QB in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th rounds. A 6th or 7th fine. We must draft for our lines on both sides of the ball and our secondary.
  15. I beg to differ. The 2 teams in the Super Bowl have a combined 5 players picked in the 1st round. In other words 50% of the starting OLs in the SB are 1st round picks. Pittsburgh has 3 1st, 1 2nd, and a 3rd round pick on their OL. Average of 1.6 Seatle had 2 1st, 1 3rd, 1 5th and an undrafted on their OL. Average of 3.6(assuming an 8th for the undrafted) The Bills had a 3rd, 5th, 7th and 2 undrafted for an average of 5. If you include Williams instead of Peters you'd have an average of 3.2.
  16. I was thinking that if there are any country music writers who visit this site they would have a plethora of ideas for their song writing. Here’s one I whipped up from the post topics currently on page 1. I’ll call it Starving for Bills News/A depressing thing. Gray is not a good coach. Some would say it is A depressing thing. Please stop the QB insantity!!!! Some would say it is A depressing thing. Have you calmed down yet? Some would say it is A depressing thing. Randy Cross is a moron Some would say it is A depressing thing. Which Bills Player Would You Want To Bring To A fight Some would say it is A depressing thing. Starving for Bills News Some would say it is A depressing thing. Thank God Levy's doing the hiring not US Some would say it is A depressing thing. A depressing question Some would say it is A depressing thing. These coaching moves are a little strange Some would say it is A depressing thing. Our o-line is so bad........ Some would say it is A depressing thing.
  17. I'm not defending this as a tell all stat, but he did reach 2000 yards in less games than OJ or Travis. Take it for what it is worth. I would rather have OJ(without the baggage) than Willis, but I would also rather have Willis than Travis. All of this "he doesn't deserve to get more money so he can kiss my ass" is irrelevant. The KFFL story was just pure speculation on their part, just like the other blurbs they had in the same story. They mentioned Fletcher, Milloy, Vincent and others may not be worth their salaries compared to what they bring to the team in the same story. Wait for either the Bills, McGahee or Rosenhaus to make a public statement about this before all of you get crazy over this "story". If Willis was going to look for more money he would be better served to wait until after this upcoming year. That is not to say he won't ask this year, but let's wait for the real deal before breaking a sweat about something that may never come.
  18. I think the stat goes on active games, not years in service.
  19. I'm with you on that obsevation. I was thinking how does this guy wind up with a hottie like that. Money can buy happiness.
  20. If that were the strategy then I would pick Mike Williams, he'd be a lot easier to outrun than Parrish.
  21. I hope that Levy is sharp enough to see the worth of Clements staying on this team and signed to a long term contract. That is one position we should work very hard to maintain status quo. Who would you suggest we put in his place?
  22. The offensive line has to be fixed before upgrading any other offensive position PERIOD. Some of that will be addressed in free agency and some will be done on day 1 in the draft. We might take a QB in the late rounds(6-7) on day 2. Until the Bills significantly upgrade both the OL and DL there will be no winning now or in the future. I think that we will have JP and Kelly battling for the number 1 and number 2 spots, meanwhile we'll have a couple of players battling for the number 3 spot. I doubt the Bills will address the QB position in free agency by picking up a Culpepper or Collins type of player. We may grab a young kid or two off waivers to battle for 3rd on the depth chart. Our available cap dollars have to be spent on other positions. OL, DL and maybe the secondary. We need to build a solid foundation with the OL so then we can properly evaluate what we have in JP. I think we pretty much know what we have with Holcomb, a good back up. All of this JP is "definitely not the answer" is extremely premature. He has only started 8 games, and he vastly improved over those games. Will he definitely be the answer? I do not know, but I'm leaning on the side of he could be given his improvement through the year. Bottom line is that I would be jaw dropping to the floor surprised if the Bills pick a QB on day 1 much less in the 1st round. When Levy coached here we always had very good or excellent lines, I expect that to be the case now to.
  23. Maybe.... Thanks, I fixed it.
  24. You're right I heard McNally used to be able to water into wine. Why culdn't he do that here? Anyone could have gotten our OL to the pro bowl last year.
  25. I really think the Jets are going the QB route. They may trade down if they think they can get Cutler later in round 1. At least that is what my dog told me and he is usually right about these things.
