Who's the greatest Bills Rb of all-time?
sfladave replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The slasher, I mean the Juice was the best pure RB the Bills ever had. In fact you could probably argue top 3-5 of all time. That being said, if I had to choose 1 that I want for my team, Thurman hands down. !@#$ the psycho killer! edit: Willis "I'm the greatest" McGahee doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in this thread. -
There is a VERY good chance that as the OC of the fish he is making as much if not more than he made as the HC of the Bills ($1.1M). Greg Williams also made more money his 1st year with the Redskins as their DC than he made as HC of the Bills. If Mularkey felt as though he would be in an uncomfortable situation in Buffalo he may have decided the grass was greener on the other side. He may have even taken a pay cut from the $1.1 million he was due to receive here to look for a more comfortable work environment.

What was impressive about it? The fact that it was a SB record for airtime for a 40 yard pass? Please stop the Big Ben man-love. Pittsburgh won despite Ben's play not because of his play. He had the worst performance I have ever seen by a QB in the SB. He made a great run in the playoffs to help Pittsburgh get to the SB, but he SUCKED in the SB.

Imagine the gall of an owner wanting to be involved with his own team! If I was the owner of the Bills and I am ultimately the one who is responsible for the success or failure of it I would have been sending notes during the games too, except mine would have been pink slips!

Where is this Ben was average thing coming from? Ben sucked big time. At least 3-4 of his passes looked like bad punts. He never got it together for this game. That being said he did have a heck of a run in the playoffs to help get the Steelers to the Super Bowl.

You want something to worry about?
sfladave replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem is owners like Snyder, Kraft and Jones probably could care less if some of these teams don't survive. -
Isn't this the same thing they said about Josh Reed before he was drafted? You just never know what you'll get until they actually start playing. Therefore I don't think that you can say he is a good replacement for Moulds. Besides if the Bills were to draft a WR in the 2nd they would have a mutiny by the fan base.

Even if his cap hit was $100,000 do you think he'd be going anywhere? Jeez some people are very quick to judgment here. Here are 2 sets of stats to use as an example of misjudging a QB too early. G GS Att Comp Pct Yards YPA Lg TD Int Tkld 20+ 40+ Rate 16 16 575 326 56.7 3739 6.50 78 26 28 22/109 42 8 71.2 G GS Att Comp Pct Yards YPA Lg TD Int Tkld 20+ 40+ Rate 9 8 228 113 49.6 1340 5.88 58 8 8 26/197 15 6 64.9 The 2nd set of numbers are JP's first year as a starter, the 1st set are Peyton's first year as a starter. JP was 12% below Peyton in completion %, in a game where each threw 30 passes JP would have completed 15 to Peyton's 17. JP's QB rating was 6.3% behind Peyton in QB rating. There is not a huge difference in numbers here. I'm glad my reviews for work are not done on this forum.

Get San Diego's GM AJ Smith on the phone...
sfladave replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Scraps I was just countering your thought that you lost confidence in JP as the season wore on. With the exception of a few hot pocket coaster riders, most people here know that our priority is fixing our lines. I am by no means sold on JPs future success either. He needs to come into camp and win the starting job. Then he has to show that he has the ability to read defenses and have the ability to lead this team. Then and only then can people start talking with confidence about his ability to be the real deal. Will that happen? I hope so but I do not know. He already has the skill players around him, if we give him a good OL I think he has a better than 50% chance to prove he can be successful. -

I actually gained confidence in him as the season wore on. He seemed to gain confidence, especially after he started to loosen up and stopped worrying about making mistakes. What bothered me was that in every game that JP played well in the first half, Houston, Miami and KC, his numbers plummeted in the 2nd half. I do not know if it was the play calling or adjustments made by the other teams, but he simply was not as effective in the 2nd half. JP is surely not a shoe in as the savior of the Bills, but predicting his ultimate demise is also premature. We have so many needs to address that dramatic moves at the QB position simply will not happen. Hopefully we will be able to dramatically upgrade our OL and DL. The QB play will have an impact on our record but not nearly as much as the play of our lines and our play calling will have. I will say it again, put the horse back in front of the cart! -
Are Nate Clements days numbered as a Bill
sfladave replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not in the magical cover 2. I'm sure we can just pick someone up in the 6th or 7 round and just plug them in. -

Actually you need a solid and physical CB, which Nate is. Nate is a young and very good CB. We should do everything within reason to sign him long term. -

I've spent the last 10 years waiting for these other positions to be worked out. Get back to basics, give us solid lines. It's time to put the horse back in front of the cart! I hate when people try to do things ass backwards. -

If you are going to solidify anything it had better be our lines. We can probably get an excellent DL with the 8th pick. We will hopefully pick up 2 OL FAs and another DL FA. QB is not our biggest need. Is it a perfect situation yet? NO, but it is far outweighed by our needs on the lines. Add to that the fact that it is not known if Brees will be 100% by training camp and you've got yourself a novel but totally impractical and unrealistic idea. -

Is Cover 2 the end of Milloy?
sfladave replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have ZERO faith in Coy Wire's pass coverage ability. It would be a huge step backwards if Wire were to take over Milloys spot on the roster. IMHO! -
I don't remember ever hearing that. You wouldn't happen to have a link on that would you? It would be ridiculous to not have a salary cap. I can't believe that even the NFLPA would be that short sighted.

sfladave replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Vincent would thrive in a cover 2. It is perfectly suited for a ball hawk like Vincent. He was basically playing as the only deep DB all last year. If we weren't blitzing Malloy we were playing him at the LOS for 90% of plays. I think we can play the cover 2 effectively with the DBs we have now. That is if we beef up our DL, otherwise we will be torched by the run again this year. -
Even if we didn't have Willis I wouldn't want Lewis. Before the year began he was crying about his pay and that without an extension he would have to be careful to not get hurt. That was double talk for he wouldn't be playing all out. Nope we don't need a guy like that here.

Wow those 2-5 yard dink passes from Holcomb to Moulds really bring down Moulds average yards per catch. Moulds 10.07 yards per catch. Ward 14.13 yards per catch.

Nope we'd save $9.4 million, and we'd have $12.9 million in dead cap.
