Congratulations to our very own clumping platelets
sfladave replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I noticed how they said check out this "excellent site." For his acceptance speech at the capologist awards Clumpy says, "All of that maddening number crunching was worth it!" -
To all who say 7 games isn't enough to judge JP
sfladave replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is the logic of cutting JP at any time this year? I took a look at Clump's 2006 cap page and it seems to me that we lose out big time cap wise by cutting him. If we cut him he only counts $2,389,000 against our cap this year which, if the Bills decided, they could afford. However the Bills have already paid out his signing bonus and all he is due to receive this year is $448,750($385,000 base pay and $63,750 in other bonuses). The only thing we stand to gain this year by cutting JP is $708,250 in cap space saved for next year. -
Maybe i'm just being negative but....

Now how can you post something like this without sharing the name of unsaid establishment? -

Hold your breath until you turn blue and start seeing stars, or inhale a can of spray paint while you're typing your next post. Then you'll start understanding the logic of some people here. -

Yet they named a guy the starter for the 05 season after seeing Eli go 1-6 in his 2004 starts and 1-7 overall. He had a QB rating of 55.4 and a 48.2 completion%, 6 TDs and 9 INTs. WOW, I can't believe that they didn't write him off! Good thing for the Giants that their front office and coaches don't judge too quickly! -

I'm sorry but 7 games is never enough to evaluate any player you have invested a 1st round pick and millions of dollars in. The Bills new management and coaches have 7 games of NFL experience to evaluate JP on....7 games! Even after the preseason they will not have enough information at their disposal to decide if he is a bust or the real deal. They'll have some indications, but no way can they decide anything with any sort of certainty. -
Now here is a topic I can relate to right now! I had the left over pizza for breakfast, and it was AWESOME!

John Riggins on Sirius Radio about Bills QBs
sfladave replied to kota's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nah!...He's developing a new formula to address this. So John Riggins has an inside scoop on what personnel decisions are being made at OBD. I'm just wondering how in the hell this topic came up in an interview with Riggins on Sirius? -
Should the Wonderlic test be...
sfladave replied to WVUFootball29's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps we should have people take the Idiot Test! My results: I am 7% Idiot. You are not annoying at all. In fact most people come to you for advice. Of course they annoy the hell out of ou. But what can you do? You are smarter than most people -
Well I hope that they have some sort of plan in place at OBD. I'm just worried that "win now" means something different than my interpretation of Marv's comments from when he was first hired. I just can't get a grasp of what it is that they are trying to build here at OBD! The Bills are saying win now, then they release some vets and then don't replace them, or worse, don't upgrade them in FA. We have not or cannot replace our vet losses with our current FA pickups and the draft, at least not at this point. The offensive line has me the most concerned at this point. The thought of Anderson starting at LG scares the bejesus out of me. I have heard some convincing arguments that he was one of our better OL at the end of last year, but I am unconvinced. Vlliarial will be fine at RG if he can avoid injuries. Peter's seems as though he can move into a 16 game starting role at RT. I'm not sure if he can be the mainstay at LT here as some suggest. Gandy played good enough last year that I cannot say, "he has to go", but I'm not convinced that he should be our starting LT. Is Duke Preston our starting C? He seemed to play well last year, but that was at G. Is he ready to call the assignments at the line of scrimmage and be a force up the middle? I do not know! I would have loved getting Bentley here and moving Preston to our LG, but..... So it seems to me that we are up in the air with respect to 3 out of 5 starting OL (LG, C and 1 of our Ts). This has me very worried! That being said I will stick with my usual optimistic outlook when I make my annual LABillzFan season W/L prediction. I have always anticipated and hoped for a 13-3 season, and I see no reason to change that now. We will finish the regular season with a 13-3 record! Because at this time of the year I can!

So Basically, Levy's Done Nothing
sfladave replied to ground_chuck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you sure it was the knee blow out that ended your "football career" or was it the multiple concussions that have obviously received? -
Surely you haven't forgotten about the Miami game!
-
You're not giving this team nearly the credit they're due. It's 4-3 Sabres with 6 minutes left in the 3rd!

"taste the sfladave" - I'll try that line out tonight. "nothing sucks like a sfladave" - I won't be trying that line out tonight! "all you need is sfladave and a dream" "only a fool breaks the sfladave"

Asking price 4 Culpepper is a 2nd round pick
sfladave replied to SnakeOiler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Vikings get a 2nd they will have ripped someone off! I wouldn't take Culpepper if they gave us a 2nd and he would sign for vet minimum! -
Nate Clements cap hit just went up !
sfladave replied to ___JT___'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So we have gotten blindsided by the Clements clause! That is quite an increase as compared to the increase in the salary cap from $94 to $102 million. -
I'm going with the 12 hour nothing big but someone surprising guess. It will be interesting to see Marv's first run at free agency as a GM unfold.

I know I'm asking a homer but who would you compare Buckner to? I didn't see him play at all this year and I am totally ignorant of his ability. -
Does anyone have ANY idea how much these
sfladave replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You also have to consider what the owners are making in unrealized gains in the value of their franchises. According to the above mentioned Forbes article from 2001 to 2004 the Bills franchise value increased from $365 million to $637 million, or $272 million. That means that Ralph made $90 million a year during that period in unrealized income. During that same period NEs Kraft made $112 million per year. -
Ralph Didn't Understand Proposal
sfladave replied to SHOUTBOX MONSTER!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually I was watching a movie when I read this topic, The Devil's Own, when Brad Pitts character mentioned this very saying when questioned about something. edit: It seemed appropriate though! The Devil's Own A New York policeman (Harrison Ford) learns that his Irish houseguest (Brad Pitt) is an IRA terrorist seeking U.S. weapons. -

Makes me think of a saying I once heard, "If you're not confused, you don't know what's going on." -
I did a quick google regarding Indy's turf and here is the first hit I opened up. "The University of Wiscon-sin cornerback could have waited to run the 40-yard dash on the fast track at UW's pro day just after the Combine instead of on the notoriously slow turf at Indianapolis. Many pro-spects, including nearly all of the top ones, pass on the 40 at the Combine."
-
Hasn't one of the complaints about the combine at Indy always been that their turf is infamously slow? I think that is why several players over the years have refused to run the 40 there and insist on doing it on the pro day at their schools.

Since I have seen little of Davis in actual games I am far from an expert, however I do not think I can put much faith into an evaluation by someone who contradicts himself in the first sentences of both his strengths and weaknesses. That being said, unless we go balls to the wall in FA addressing both of our lines, I do not think that Davis is a luxury we can afford.
