  1. This goes to show you how the majority of these "insurgents" are in fact foreign fighters who couldnt care less about Iraq or its people. A stable, democratically governed Iraq is bad for their cause and they will do everything in their power to stop it. Which is why our mission is so important and must be seen to the end.
  2. Should be a great series, Cardinals bats will present problems and hopefully the Sox pitchers do to them what they did to A-Rod, Sheffield and Matsui. Will the Cardinals pitching staff be able to handle Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz not to mention Trot Nixon, Johnny Damon and Bill Mueller? This is gonna be good.
  3. So turning cars over, setting them on fire and throwing bottles and burning cardboard at police wasnt getting violent? There were certain scenes from Kenmore Sq that looked like Fallujah for christ's sakes. I'm guessing the troublemakers werent even Sox fans and just hooligans looking for an excuse to cause bedlam. Closing the bars or not selling alcohol on the day of the game will alleviate nothing.
  4. Howabout the Curse of A-Fraud
  5. Worst fans; Philadelphia Oakland New York Detroit
  6. What happened to being concerned about what other people think of us? Or does that only apply to European countries?
  7. Thats Saturday night right? Thats also Game 1 of the World Series. I'll miss it again.
  8. Lowe was done after 69 pitches. He pitched a few days ago and they didnt want to burn him out. He brought Pedro in for just one inning to help save some of the other bullpen arms and he had a 7 run lead. Pedro wasnt loose to start off but finished the inning strong. Say what you want about Francona, he managed Games 4-7 brilliantly. Now our entire pitching staff will be rested and ready to go in the World Series.
  9. I was watching the game last night, can someone summarize the episode for me?
  10. I'll simply accept your congratulations and say that was the single greatest playoff series I've ever seen. The Yankees didnt choke it away, the Red Sox simply grabbed it from them. They are worthy opponents and scare the crap out of me every time we play them. Guys like Derek Jeter, Joe Torre, Bernie Williams, Mariano Rivera are class acts through and through. See you guys next year. Beltran will do an awesome job for you guys in CF, he'll put up MONSTER numbers in that ballpark.
  11. 2005 Yankees payroll = $300 million dollars
  12. I wish my grandfather could see this.
  13. You guys should know every region has its share of bad apples and they tend to stick out and be more noticeable than the good fans.
  14. Greatest comeback ever. Books will be written about this. Be ready to see these games on ESPN Classic for years and years to come.
  15. Dude, thats pretty harsh to characterize an entire region like that.
  16. All that ghost and curse talk is simply nonsense and fodder for people who have nothing else to grasp and are very desperate. As a lifelong Sox fan, I've never believed in any curse. Its always the better team wins, last year the Yankees were the better team plain and simple. This year who knows? The teams are even, Yankees have home field but Sox have momentum and are probably a lot looser than the Yanks. If the Sox lose, people will just say ho hum, just another year to be the bridesmaid. If the Yankees lose, it will be the greatest collapse in baseball history and will live in infamy. you tell me whats worse?
  17. I've heard talk show hosts and the like saying that it would have been less painful for Sox fans if they had been swept rather than taking it to a Game 7 and losing. I wholeheartedly disagree, especially in this instance and in this manner in which this team has come back from the dead to force a winner take all game. No matter what happens tonight, I'll be proud of this team for the way it showed the heart/guts and tenacity that we all knew they had. I think if the Sox win tonight, the momentum and relief will carry them through the World Series. That and a few days of rest would help greatly.
  18. MTV was a music station?
  19. The Defensive replacements (Mientkiewicz, Reese and Kapler) usually come in late in the game. Arroyo was the only "panic" move I could think of but that was because Schilling was fried and the rest of the bullpen had virtually nothing.
  20. My first thought is I'd start Wake too but then again, sinkerball pitchers are typically better when they are somewhat fatigued. Kevin Brown for the Yankees tomorrow? The big advantage for NY however is that Rivera did not pitch tonight and Foulke did, how much will he have in the tank tomorrow?
  21. The Sox have made history tonight. Before tonight, no team had ever gone down 0-3 in the playoffs and forced a Game 7. Tomorrow, more history can be written.
  22. Purposely slapping the ball away is illegal no matter who has the right of way. If ARod were simply in the act of running and the ball was dislodged then he'd be safe. Class all the way from Yankee fans. I'm suprised we didnt see the D cells being tossed out from the upper deck.
  23. Schilling is tiring and his location is starting to go.
  24. Save the congrats, we havent won anything yet.
  25. Lieber now at 100 pitches.
