In a salary cap era, you cant reward players for past accomplishments, it will simply KILL your team. The Pats arent looking to cheat Brady, they are just looking to remain viable and competetive throughout the tenure rather than going for broke for a few years and then sucking up a tremendous cap hit. It makes no sense to give him a huge contract/guaranteed bonus that will either cripple the team or having to cut Brady near the end of his contract because its too high.

And why exactly would San Francisco trade the #1 overall pick in which they could draft a potential franchise QB to a team for an unknown potential franchise QB? Makes no sense on their end and I'm still not sold the Chargers can afford the hit taken if Rivers is traded PLUS locking up Gates PLUS having 3 first round draft picks PLUS locking up Brees long term.... Fuzzy math...fuzzy math.

Getting 3 stud O-Linemen in the draft and bringing them up to speed regarding the Pats D is a tall order especially with a new untested QB stepping in. Can you say 8 in the box?

Bruschi may sit out 05 season

For some players, its about playing where you're comfortable, making good money and ensuring that the team can be competetive by you NOT taking up all the cap room like your idol Peyton Manning and ensuring that you'll see every cent of that contract unlike most NFL players who break the bank and get the big headlines which are long forgotten by year 5 of their deal or later when they're cut for salary cap reasons. Bob Kraft is a man of integrity and I have no doubt Tedy Bruschi will be taken care of. Nice try though. -

A few things for consideration here; While this may indeed be true its too early to speculate. 1. Ron Borges is notorious in this region for his hatred of Belichick and the Pats and writes many of these articles more wishing or hoping it come true than anything. 2. Brad Blank is Ron Borges' agent. You think the Globe would have mentioned that. As always, consider the source is all I'm sayin'. -
Public opinion on Iraq
Thurman's Helmet replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm willing to bet that 50+ years ago there were polls that said lynching negroes and making sure they were fully segregated was a great idea and that if they were to ever integrate that it would be BAD. Good thing there was no "yellow journalism" and subsequent polls after the Normandy invasion or the Battle of the Bulge, Antietam, Iwo Jima, Saipan, Baatan etc.... good thing polls didnt pop up all over the inta-net after we bombed the crap out of Dresden and Tokyo or Hiroshima and Nagasaki huh? ABU GHRAIB!! QUAGMIRE!! OCCUPIERS!! NO BLOOD FOR OIL!! IRAQ HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TERRORISM!! BUSH BAD!!! KERRY HAS A PLAN!! -
Howabout instead of footing thousands of dollars on that risky stomach stapling surgery, why cant doctors put people on feeding tubes for a period of time which only feeds them the nutrients they need? That way within a certain time frame, they're bound to lose the weight. Feeding tubes, they're whats for dinner!

The justice system is a joke
Thurman's Helmet replied to billsfanone's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I dont worry about the programming part. The corrections system wont get overloaded with these perverts if we let them join general population. Frontier justice will take care of that for us. My main concern is with the recidivism rate at about 90%, I'm not concerned with THEIR rehabilitation, I'm concerned with protecting the public FROM them. -

A rape is indeed an act of violence. However, pedophilia is more about sex and more importantly, power and control. Many pedophiles have a prediliction to youngsters much as you or I have innate desires for the opposite sex or as homosexuals for the same sex. Its programmed into the brain and no counterprogramming can undo it unless you go to the source which is basically the testes. I'd be all for child molestation as a capital offense (with the exemption for 18 year olds bangin their 17 year old girlfriends) -
Yup, god forbid when there's a reasonable doubt about her condition we err on the side of life. Convicted murderers on death row would most likely get more compassion and consideration than this woman is getting. How pathetic is that?

But what about their rights? Shouldnt they allowed to operate under the cover of darkness and shrouded in secrecy so they can "rehabilitate"? The ACLU sure thinks so. -

Dont you understand? All he needs is to be rehabilitated and integrated into society not shunned or punished. Maybe a little love wouldnt hurt. Its not his fault. its...its...SOCIETY'S FAULT!!!! I'd like to hear someone argue against the death penalty for this p.o.s -

They arent as stupid as many of these other teams. But have no fear, they cant keep this level of dominance up forever. The only direction they can go in is down. Frankly, its a nice position to be in. -

It'll be comedy gold when Eli is doing the hereditary Manning unstrapping of the chinstrap in frustration and Burress is flapping his gums worrying more about his stats than whether or not they won or loss. The train is heading off the tracks and it will be great fun to watch.
