  1. Glad to hear that. As much as Eichel is the future, Reinhart is a big piece of it as well and could accelerate the rebuild process if he develops quickly. The scrimmage Friday will be sold out and the prospects game as well (rumors are just 2 games against the same team as they did not enter the tournament this year). Sabres looking to host the prospect tournament next year too, lot's of buzz around the FNC. Freaking awesome stuff...
  2. Looks like we'll be seeing Kassian a bit more this season... http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=773393
  3. NHL denying Las Vegas rumors...I would be a nice road trip should they ever get a team http://www.tsn.ca/talent/nhl-issues-stern-denial-on-coyotes-relocation-report-1.322432
  4. Gord Downie & Jeff Martin....2 lead singers for bands that I have seen many many times...
  5. Kassian is pretty much the same as he was in Buffalo. He shows flashes of being really good, but is not consistent. He is terrible on D, he is big and physical, but commits a lot of dumb penalties. He is the topic of trade rumors every year, including this article in which they thought he might be dealt for picks before or during the entry draft: http://canucksarmy.com/2015/5/19/are-the-canucks-going-to-trade-zack-kassian He was also out half of last season with a back injury...
  6. From what I understand Irbe wasn't looking for a coaching job before he was brought on by the Sabres. He and Ted Nolan were good friends, and he joined to staff as a favor to Nolan. So maybe he just didn't want to be an assistant for someone else, or maybe he doesn't want to coach at all. But if true, it looks like he wasn't staying with the Sabres even if they wanted him.
  7. Couldn't agree more Promo... What a great day! This roster is really coming together nicely. GMTM is picking up 23 and 24 year olds that already have have 4 or 5 years of NHL experience, someone else has already taken the time to develop them and GMTM plucks them in what should be their prime years. I love these moves. They're risky, and bold, but on paper are great. Anything can happen on ice, but it's been a great off season. Can't remember the last time I was excited about both the Bills and the Sabres upcoming seasons, great stuff....
  8. Even if he's wrong about him, it really doesn't set the Sabres back at all. They are not expected to do much this season, and if he's horrible, they make a move for a better goalie at the trade deadline or next off season. Maybe Legwand has some value at the trade deadline. A "deep draft" in hockey is probably 10-15 solid prospects, in which only a hand full will succeed. That's why I think it's a risk worth taking...
  9. this should shed some light on the subject, 21st pick through the years: 2014 21 St. Louis Robby Fabbri C Guelph Storm [OHL] 2013 21 Toronto Frederik Gauthier C Rimouski Oceanic [QMJHL] 2012 21 Calgary Mark Jankowski C Stanstead College (Quebec) 2011 21 Ottawa Stefan Noesen R Plymouth Whalers [OHL] 2010 21 Detroit Riley Sheahan C Notre Dame [CCHA] 2009 21 Columbus John Moore D Chicago Steel [uSHL] 2008 21 Washington Anton Gustafsson C Frolunda Jrs (Sweden) 2007 21 Edmonton Riley Nash C Salmon Arm Silverbacks [bCHL] 2006 21 NY Rangers Bob Sanguinetti D Owen Sound Attack [OHL]
  10. Yes, they do and they spent years near and in the cellar to get those prospects. Now it's time to get NHL ready players and hope the prospects develop, that's how you become a winning team in this league. it's so much different than the NFL draft, a 21 in hockey is a long shot, usually a very young player with potential, and you have just as good a chance of getting lucky in the second round...Their next pick is 31, so they still can get a good prospect.
  11. Fair enough, I like it, you don't, time will tell...I like it because we have an quality NHL ready goalie now. Instead of waiting years to see if a late draft pick pans out. for example, in 2011 they selected Joel Armia with the 16th pick. He might be a good NHL player, but he's still not ready...
  12. This is a good deal for hockey, would be a bad deal in football...
  13. Ottowa's Murray made the statement, not Buffalo's...
  14. I like Lehner, I like this move. We'll see down the road, but IMO The 21st pick is usually at least a couple years away from being NHL ready. The Sabres have a lot of young talent that is still developing, it's time to get players that are NHL ready. I love GMTM's boldness, it's such a refreshing change from the Darcy years....
  15. Those wacky Korean's...they just love their hockey...
  16. Terry Murray and Dave Barr join the Sabres coaching staff and other news: http://sabres.buffalonews.com/2015/06/18/bylsma-adds-veterans-murray-barr-to-coaching-staff/
  17. Sometimes you're so stupid it defies the word.
  18. Damn this would be awesome in the streets of Buffalo, one of these years (please).... What if LA were to win the cup next year? Dynasty? Can there be overlapping dynasties? I guess there would have to be, if 3 out of 5 or 6 is the criteria. I think 1 more in the within the next 5 years and it's a dynasty for sure, right now it's a great run...IMO...
  19. Actually the decline is supposed to hit next season, because most had already bought their season tickets before the announcement was made...
  20. Exactly, that's why I asked...
