Sabres & NHL 2016-17 - Victor Antipin Signs One Year Deal

Well, at least it's over! I would have been happy with the signing, but it's not a big loss. Ennis should put up better numbers than Vesey if he can stay on the ice, so that's a good addition to add to last years team. It was a low risk, high reward move by GMTM. They had 4 third round picks and I think a lot of people don't realize an NHL organization can only have 50 players under contract at one time, so the odds of all 4 of those picks making it long term are slim. Burke sums it up pretty well...http://thehockeywriters.com/vesey-gamble-doesnt-pay-off-for-sabres-but-thats-alright/ -
This probably won't make him very happy either...

Maybe Boston...But other than that, when he signs, it's just a line in the transaction section... -

Sorry, but I'm still going to miss Hogan

Fantasy projections for Hogan. IMO he's worth drafting in case JE gets hurt, otherwise he's a risky start, but probably will have a couple really nice stat games... ESPN's fantasy value:ESPN Fantasy Projection: The Patriots badly needed to upgrade their talent at wide receiver, so they snatched Hogan away from the Bills with a three-year, $12 million contract. Hogan's hands don't always cooperate. He dropped 8.5 percent of his targets last season, which was the worst rate among the 85 wide receivers who saw at least 50 passes. Still, if Hogan earns an every-down role in the Patriots' offense, he'll be a lock for fantasy relevance. He is well worth the cost of a late-round pick. Pro FB focus: Since he plays a similar role to Edelman, it’s fair to think the Patriots brought him in to be Edelman insurance; the offense was woefully inefficient at times while Edelman was out of the lineup last season. But Hogan could still see the field even if Edelman stays healthy. The Patriots got rid of Brandon LaFell after the 2015 season, and while they re-signed Keshawn Martin, he’s far from a lock in the lineup. And with Amendola’s status with the team still not set in stone, Hogan’s path to playing time could be traversable. With that said, even if he does see the field a fair amount, he would be, at best, Tom Brady’s third option behind Edelman and Rob Gronkowski — and maybe even his fourth option if Dion Lewis or James White are heavily utilized again. If Hogan is able to win a healthy amount of snaps with New England, he has flex potential in PPR leagues. But that’s the best case scenario. The more likely scenario is that Hogan doesn’t see enough targets — at least consistently — to warrant immediate fantasy consideration. Knowing the Patriots, he could see 10 targets one week and just three over the next two weeks combined. Rotoworld: Chris Hogan caught 4-of-5 targets for 53 yards in Thursday's preseason game. He also caught a two-point conversion. Hogan was New England's most targeted pass catcher while Week 1 starter Jimmy Garoppolo was in the game. Hogan could be an important chain mover on the boundary for the Pats, but in a crowded targets landscape, he's just a WR5 for fantasy purposes. -

He's a good receiver, but good receivers can be easily replaced, it's the great ones you need to keep... -
I was just a pup when the Stadium was built and found some of this interesting. it's a wiki page, anyone remember this? An original franchise of the American Football League in 1960, the Buffalo Bills played their first thirteen seasons at War Memorial Stadium, a multi-use WPA project stadium that opened in 1938, located on Buffalo's East Side. While suitable for AFL play in the 1960s, the "Rockpile" (as the stadium came to be nicknamed), was in disrepair, in a neighborhood increasingly subject to white flight and urban decay, and, with a capacity of under 47,000, undersized for a National Football League team. The league mandate instituted after the AFL–NFL merger of 1970 dictated a minimum of 50,000 seats. In early 1971, owner Ralph Wilson was exploring options to relocate the team, possibly to Seattle, with other cities such as Memphis and Tampa soon expressing interest as well. The potential loss of the team hastened the stadium project and Rich Stadium opened in 1973. The location and construction of the stadium in Erie County were the source of years of litigation, which ended with a financial settlement for a developer who had planned to erect a domed stadium in Lancaster. However, plans changed because it was not wanted to be close to Lancaster High School. The stadium was ultimately built by Frank Schoenle and his construction company. Stadium bonds were approved by the county legislature in September 1971. Naming rights Rich Products, a Buffalo-based food products company, signed a 25-year, $1.5 million deal ($60,000 per year), by which the venue would be called "Rich Stadium"; one of the earliest examples of the sale of naming rights in North American sports. (The name was somewhat of a compromise, after Bills owner and founder Ralph Wilson rejected the name Rich wanted to use, "Coffee Rich Park.") By a vote of 16 to 4, the county legislature approved the name in November 1972, despite a matching offer from Wilson to name it "Buffalo Bills Stadium." When the Bills organization regularly referred to the stadium without the "Rich" name, Rich Products brought a $7.5 million lawsuit against the team in 1976. After the original deal expired after a quarter century in 1998, the stadium was renamed in honor of Wilson. Rich Products balked at paying a greatly increased rights fee, which would have brought the price up to par with other NFL stadiums. I agree. There are plenty of ways to honor Ralph besides keeping the name of the Stadium, the ones you mentioned, plus the wall of fame comes immediately to mind. It's not like the stadium was named in memory of Ralph, that would be different. It's been named the Ralph for 17 years, it's a new regime, time for a change...

I think that's why they named it Field and not Stadium. A field can be moved, a stadium, not so much... -

Who missed their drug test? -
MD is a great player, he makes plays and occupies offensive linemen. He's someone the offense always has to account for and it will hurt without him in the lineup. That being said, Bryant is an excellent backup. Washington is still learning, but looks good and comes from a pro-like college. Add the improved ILBs as mentioned earlier in this thread and I think we're ok, we're losing something, let's not kid ourselves, but we're not doomed by any stretch...GO Bills!

Yes, it's refreshing having a GM that's willing to take chances. He will fail at times for sure and will take a lot of heat, but I would imagine there are NHL rules prohibiting that type of thing, we don't have all the details, so it's tough to just say they simply could have given other teams permission to talk. Or maybe GMTM was trying to trade his rights this whole time to another team, or waiting for another team to make an offer, not likely, but possible. Regardless, it was a good move to trade for his right whether they get him or not. He could have declined an offer to speak with the Sabres after the 15th, at least now he has something to think about. -

His employer wished him a Happy Birthday! He's in legal trouble, but hasn't been proven guilty of anything but poor judgement to this point. Big freaking deal, and yes, it's most likely automated. But so what if it wasn't, it was his birthday! The only bad timing would have been if they posted it a day later, hence missing his freaking birthday. Shown the door for tweeting happy birthday? come on...So ridiculous... -
