I did notice the half empty stadium to start the second half and totally agree they should have stepped it up, maybe even go no huddle. But there is no urgency ever in this offense. We can't snap the ball unless there are less than 3 seconds on the play clock, even late in the 4th quarter. very frustrating....

Just got back from the game, in person observations

I agree with most of your frustration, but just to touch on a couple topics.... It was Rex's replay coach's upstairs that challenged the TD. Rex got word it was a TD and threw the flag, not sure what they were looking at, unless there was another angle it wasn't going to be overturned. Rex will get the blame ultimately, but he was told to challenge. If someone runs up and says it's a TD, you throw that flag. Can only blame Rex for hiring the idiots who thought it was a TD. He's a very good player, but this offense doesn't suit him and they overpaid if this is how they continue to use him. Of course it doesn't help that the line was so bad they had to keep him in to block most of the game. -

Clay was on the field for something like 95% of the offensive plays last season. He really doesn't get enough credit for his blocking ability and I think they'll use him more in the passing game this season as well, should be a good year for Clay. -
UB football embarrassing loss to Albany.
ricojes replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The UB football student section is very small, there's just seems to be no interest in football from the student body. They rock the building for basketball, it's a great atmosphere, but they can't draw students for football. As for the QB, they have to go with Jackson. He is an athletic QB with a big arm, he just needs to play and get better. If he carries the ball like a RB and not one handed and unprotected, they score and take the lead very late in the 4th quarter. He'll learn from this and will continue to get better. Doesn't sound like you know where Albany is located either... -

UB's stadium is terrible. It was built for the World University Games many moons ago, the track around the field makes it seem like your a mile away from the action. they do draw for big time programs, when they can get them on the schedule, but not much for any other game. When they made the Independence Bowl, there were thousands that made the trip to Toronto to see the game, it was awesome. But they can't draw at home and I really think that stadium has a lot to do with it... -
Jim Nance, great voice, terrible insight and overall knowledge of the game. Chis Collinsworth, terrible voice, good insight.

Coller was ok. Although only a few here have posted negative comments about him, so that's a pretty amazing feat. Schopp and White are an acquired taste to say the least. I really used to hate White, I am still not a big fan, but he's come a long way. Schopp can really piss people off, but he also makes the callers justify their complaints by asking questions. Which usually the caller doesn't like as it feels like an attack, but really he's just looking for some reasoning. I think Bulldog is like many posted on TBD. He's a big Bills fan and has been beaten down to the point of either no hope or the all too famous cautious optimism. I think they're ok and listen while in the car, but that's about it. I do like Murphy, even though he gets a ton of flack for being a company line guy. The truth is, he's always been that way, going back to his local news day. He's not a Sullivan asking questions just to fire a guy up type interviewer. But he's good and I love the fact they moved his show to the noon time slot. And i'll give DJ a chance, it's too early to tell.

The Bills are Going to the Playoffs This Year (Part 1)
ricojes replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So sad, but true. Bills fans have been hopeful too many times only to have their hopes crushed as the season progresses. So we approach every season "cautiously optimistic" or in other words, hope for the best, but not surprised when the wheels fall off the cart... It's a tough mentality to shake. That's the reason so many here are just impossible to reason with, they have lost all hope. They expect the absolute worst case scenario, are pleasantly surprised when the team plays well, and knew it all along when the team falls apart. A playoff drought of this magnitude will do that to the best of us! I appreciate your optimism and I am cautiously optimistic about this season well....GO BILLS!!!! -

Sabres & NHL 2016-17 - Victor Antipin Signs One Year Deal
ricojes replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
They're restricted free agents because they completed their entry level contract and have less than 4 years in the league. I am not 100% sure on arbitration, but I would imagine it's a similar situation. edit-- Found this: Most players must have four years of NHL experience before they are eligible for salary arbitration (the term is reduced for those who signed their first NHL contract after the age of 20). The process is used by restricted free agents, because it is one of the few bargaining options available to them. also this for RFA's: December 1 DeadlineRestricted free agents must sign NHL contracts by December 1, or they are not eligible to play in the NHL for the rest of the season. -

No worries for Risto, they will get it worked out. I think Risto will get 6 years for around 32 mil. His agent probably started with a longer term deal and they are negotiating from there. As for Zemgus, that's up in the air. He had supposedly talked about going to the KHL, maybe using that as leverage in his negotiations or maybe just a bad rumor. But he didn't play well in Bylsma's system last season, so I don't see a long term deal. It will most likely be a 2 year deal at most, if he's stuck on a long term deal, he could be gone... -
