What if Trent completely chokes the first couple games?
ricojes replied to marioc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was thrown as well, at least we now know it's the drugs talking....GO BILLS -
If a QB goes down in pre-season, I think JP becomes a warm commodity. His trade value maybe goes up to a 4 or conditional 3, depending on how desperate the team may be. Once Pennington is cut, I would bring him into camp. With Pennington in camp the Bills could make a deal in this scenario and have a veteran backup.

Most? Didn't he come back during the season? Look...the bottom line is, if JP holds out the season, the Bills have to treat it as if he did get hurt in training camp and is on IR. I think this team learned a thing or 2 about injuries last season. I would love to see JP back, but if not you have to do the best with what you got. Unfortunately it's no where near the talent of JP, but how many backups are. That being said, please come back Jason... -
will Favre on Jets help the Bills

Good point, this year we win easy....GO BILLS!!!! -
My theory on this whole situation is that the Bills want to talk to Peters without Parker. I think the Bills would tell JP that he is a very important part of this team and they want him around for a long time, unfortunately due to trying to extend Evans and Crowell, he would have to wait until next season to renegotiate. Then see what JP thinks about that and go from there. But Parker doesn't want any part of that. He wants his client to get a raise now and doesn't care about anything else. Parker will absolutely not, under any circumstance, let JP talk to the Bills directly. Because I really think JP is a team player and would trust that he would get his money the following year. Dockery stated he had talked to JP a couple times, probably against Parkers wishes, and JP is itching to get back and can't wait to join his teammates. Best case scenario....fire Parker! GO BILLS!!!!

let's flash back to 2007, where the topic was: What if JP completely chokes the first couple games? Quarterback controversy? Sound familiar? Any team with a young unproven QB will be asking the what if questions? If the Bills believe TE is the QB of the future, they stick with him. Since they didn't bring a veteran QB into camp, I have to believe they are confident in his abilities. He will not get pulled for poor play this year... -
If a QB goes down in a pre-season game around the league, I think JP would be prime trade bait. But the only way they have that luxury would be if they had a reliable backup. I think Pennington would give them that luxury. Of course it's all speculation, like the Bills/Parker talks. But I like the scenario, even if we only got a 4th round pick for him...

Let's take a sobering look at reality

Good point. The 12/14 game could be important and flexed... -
That was mine from last year, but it wasn't the throw back helmet. Got boring after a while, too much green. But I do like it...

Pennington is getting cut, I really don't see how they can keep him. I was just talking about it earlier today with some co-workers and I would love to bring him in for a look. While I don't like his arm strength, I think the Bills really need a veteran QB on the sidelines.

I still don't buy it. Moss was a great player coming off a couple down years with a really bad team. He went to a great team with arguably the best QB in the league. Favre is a still a very good QB at the tail end of his career going to a team coming off a horrible season. If Moss failed in NE, they still would be SB contenders. Favre needs to be great in NY for the Jets to be considered SB contenders. I think there is a lot more pressure on Favre than Moss and really the 2 situations are completely different. The Jets need Favre to be great in NY, NE could afford to take a risk... -
Exactly...Pooj, I remember you posting when you were hot for someone in your office, but too scared to say anything. Sometime's you really just have to say "what the !@#$" and go for it. While you're methodically circling around and taking your time, there may be another seagull swooping in for that french fry.

Ok, as my avatar suggests this topic is getting very old... We can continue to speculate until this is resolved, but it's all a guessing game at this point. My guess is that Parker is a busy man and represents many NFL players. He probably told the Bills brass to call when they were serious about negotiating. The Bills do not want to renegotiate the contract this year, hence the hold out. Best case scenario is that Peters either fires Parker or goes against his advice and reports to camp. But with the Bills trying to get Evans and Crowell signed, it's a very long shot that they renew his deal this year whether he is in camp or not.

The Official @#$% Peters and Favre Thread

Yeah, but this an official one... One note on the whole Favre saga. Once Favre is finally traded, I think Rodgers should change his number to 4, just to rub some salt in the wound. That would just be awesome.... -
Well said...

And from the Bills point of view... Pay him before he gets to camp. Why? So he can blow out his knee because he's out of shape? F that And a cut in pay for a poor season... LOL...

Exactly! Buffalo in July and August is much better than Jax, in December and January....not so much.

The RCA dome was very loud, my ears were ringing afterwards. The new stadium looks a little larger, so they'll probably lose a little of the noise factor. Cleveland can get pretty loud, but they only really chear loud at key points in the game. Baltimore is loud, and they are loud from the start. Tampa can get loud, but they, for the most part, are pretty laid back and really don't understand the game well. Been to Chicago, but can't remember how loud that was. It was a while back. As far as college, the only major staduum I have attended is Ohio State and that was during spring break so a lot of the students were gone. I thought overall it was pretty weak considering there were 90,000 fans there. But again it may have been the reduced size of the student body.

He definitely will not help a team win games at SS, that was a disaster. He is definitely more suited for LB, which he is now a backup in Atl. But if he makes the roster, he will make the team on ST play alone, he is a great asset on ST's. Unfortunately the Bills learned a tough lesson last season with all the injuries, you can't have a bunch of roster spots for ST's alone. Hagan, Stamer, and Wire were all great ST'ers, but below average LB's. The lack of depth is the main reason for placing Poz on IR, when he in fact was not out for the season. This season they were looking to add players to the roster than can do both, which is why the drafted Bowen. And unfortunately the injury bug strikes again...

Sadly, that's probably true. Even if they are not worth the money, the players respect the fact that they were able to get more than they're worth...
