They finally scored on their 6th chance to win the shootout, Sabres hit a post on one of those as well. They came up big when they needed to though, Vanek, Ennis, and Gerbe, were clutch...1st time an NHL team has come back from a 2-0 game defecit and 2-0 SO defecit...6 game home stand begins tonight, GO SABRES!!!

Bills reviewed on Mike & Mike this am
ricojes replied to VirginiaMike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They'll still be tough, but they have 17 free agents, including several key defensive players. So, we shall see. -
The current contract between the Bills and Erie County calls for Erie County/tax payers to implement 3 million dollars of improvements into the Stadium every year.

Correct, if you have a digital scale and are over 350, you weigh ERR...So, your goal should be to at least see numbers!

You're welcome for starting Trent Edwards against the Pack early in the season, turned out to be a huge win....

Yep, all the schools shut down the day before because of a forecasted devistating storm. Could you imagine cancelling a football game on the threat of bad weather, talk about wussies... We only got about 6-8 inches of snow here in Amherst, although it was very heavy! Across the country they'll have a cute little name for this winter storm that swept through the nation. In Buffalo, we call it Wednesday in January...

For Sabre fans: Pegula to purchase Sabres
ricojes replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to agree, it's basically the last year they had a chance. Butler put all his eggs in one basket for that season. He knew the Bills would get crushed by the cap the following year and would have to make many moves and difficult decisions, but he went for it. It was a forward lateral, but a very poor special teams play by Buffalo... As far as Pegula, I cannot wait! This is really the best thing to happen to Buffalo in a really long time. An owner not just fighting to keep their sports teams in town, but willing to spend money, allegedly, to win. This is going to be an exciting era in Buffalo Sabres history. Get rid of some of the dead weight, Connolly and others, and build a champion!!! -
Modrak gets endorsement from RW & Buddy Nix
ricojes replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pat Williams was probably the biggest (no pun intended) non-draft mistake, the guy was solid and wanted to stay in Buffalo. And Winfield would have been nice to keep as well. But I still can't blame the Bills for getting rid of Peters, they way he/his agent handled the situation was wrong, although they probably should have got more for him. As for the coaches, they had no say in Lebeau leaving. He had a chance to go back to Pittsburgh, where he and his family reside, it was a no brainer. He was great with the Bills and a huge loss, but the Bills had zero chance of keeping him. They had zero chance of keeping April after he was not named interim head coach, he was fuming about that. But that's what happens when you fire a HC mid-season, chances are the rest of the staff gone at seasons end as well. So, I can't blame them for that either. The draft and FA is another story. This is where the front office, including Ralph, get 100% of the blame. IMO Marv Levy set this team back 5 years alone, I love the guy, but he was no GM. Look at the Stillers roster and see how many of their draft picks over the last 5 years made that team great. The draft can make or break a team and Bills are broke when it comes to that. But for some reason I have faith in Nix and Gaily. I liked last years draft picks. Spiller at #9, while not a need, is going to be a good player for the Bills. I think this season was not a good gauge of his true talents. This year was more like one long training camp in which Gaily evaluated talent. A good draft this year and a couple FA's and this team can compete. They are, at least, a couple years away from competing with the Patsies and Jests, but I think they can turn it around with this staff. For this first time in a while, I have some optimism. GO BILLS! -
Got a nice letter from Ralph the other day

Basically lowest ticket prices in the league, they're not going to raise the prices. You get what you pay for....Got it! -
I went to Excelsior for PT last year, not for my elbow, and was very impressed. Nice facility and staff, pretty good array of equipment. It's on sheridan drive, behind Ethan Allen. But if you hurt your elbow playing golf, this place may be helpful. Really haven't heard much about it, but was going to check it out myself, just haven't got around to it yet.

I'm not taking anything away from the Canadian team, they are very very good 'junior' team. I was really impressed with their D, they have 2 guys back on every opportunity and very rarely give up an odd man rush. It's not sour grapes, it's just the truth, I don't get upset if the US loses in the Little League World Series either. They're kids and it's just not that important to most people in the states...

Hate to say it, but I'm glad Canada won. Only for the fact that it keeps all those Canadians in Buffalo spending mad money! What a huge boost this tournament has to be economically for the City of Buffalo. The juniors really only matter to a hand full of Americans, but it's so much more for Canada, especially with the USA winning last year. It's their national sport, from a USA perspective, it's probably equivalent to baseball. And Canada beating the USA in baseball just shouldn't happen much. They showed some absurd stat during the game comparing the number of hockey arenas in Canada compared to the USA and it was about 20 to 1 if not more. I half watched the game as it was my bowling night, but really could care less about a bunch of 17 & 18 year olds, although it was great to watch a couple of Sabres prospects. I would have been happy if the USA won, mainly because it was Canada and Canada cheered loudly against the USA in the previous games, but it didn't bother me at all that they lost. It's just not that big of a deal I guess, but it was cool that it was held in Buffalo. Also, Canada travels well for this tournament wherever it's played. Would have been more Canadians in the stands in Michigan or Minnesota, it means more to them...

Buffalo is a ghost town - the worst city ever...
ricojes replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Knowing where to go is the key for most cities. Just about any city can look like a ghost town in certain areas. I was in Charlotte for the Bills game last year and stayed to party at a couple bars after the game. We walked back to the hotel room and there was absolutely no one around. Even when we went out Saturday night, there really was only a few strips that were really rocking. Knowing where to go is true in Buffalo, especially on a holiday weekend. He'll get a chance to see the city during the day and it will be a 180 from what he witnessed previously. The problem is most people go into the city to work and then back to the suburbs to live. Buffalo has been trying to attract more people to live downtown. They have remodeled old building and made them into very nice lofts which are starting to attract more young people to live in the city. But they still have a long way to go. -

Most people stay home on Christmas Eve and Christmas. Not much open. Dude should concentrate on Hockey and not partying anyway... -
Brohm should start last 2 games
ricojes replied to I hate the Bills !'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's pretty much what Washington is doing by benching McNabb in favor of Grossman. They are intentiaonally losing for a better draft pick, but trying to disguise it, even though it's pretty transparent. I agree with it though. Fitz gives the Bills a better chance to win, but put Brohm in to see if he is worthy of a roster spot as well as please the "guy on the bench is always better" fans... -
Buffalo didn't even make this top 10 list

My Mock Offseason and draft

Definitely Owens. Not saying it was a great move, but TO was a big name and created a crazy buzz in the City after the signing... -
Recenly I told TW I was considering a switch to FIOS, but would renew my subscription if they lowered the price or even threw in free Showtime for a year. They said bye....So I have FIOS and called after 2 months to try and lower my price and they took $20 off for a year.

In an Entertainment magazine he eludes to the same, stating that comic readers may not have the insider knowledge they think they have. Also the article explains why it's going to take time to release the second season: "Before he begins hashing out next season, Darabont says he's like to figure out how the series will ultimately end. That's an ironic concern, considering The Waling Dead was conceived as the never-ending zombie saga. That may work in comics, but not so much in the category of serialized television." While a lot will come from the books, it will not be exact. For example a couple characters from the comic are rumored to make an appearance next season, but how the characters play out will be unique. At any rate, I have confidence that the show will continue to be intriguing to say the least. I have enjoyed the first season and really looking forward to the next!

Peyton Hillis in the snow against our run defense?
ricojes replied to beatlebum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see Hillis going crazy this game. The Bills seem to have trouble with the smaller speed backs, but I think they will hold Hillis in check. His statline will be about 20 rushes for 82 yards and maybe a TD. Now that's stricly rushing, I know he can catch the ball and that scares more than the ground game... -
I think the whole allegation is bogus. The person that actually views the scans are in a different room and does not see the person in line or anything like that. They are not given a before and after picture, just the sci-fi'ish image on the screen. If there's an issue, they radio to stop that person. If not, the person passes through and image is deleted. If that is truly how the system works, which is what we are told, then I have no issues with it at all. I am not even sure the security at the check point, knows who is monitoring the scans at that particular time, so singling a hot chick in line out wouldn't matter. I know I am in the minority, but I am all for the extra security. But if I am at the airport and some [insert sterio type here] gets through the regular screening and some grandma gets scanned, then it's no better than what they already have in place...
