Well Sully said we should cut him a few months ago, so that must mean he's no good. I don't agree that he's constantly doubled, which is the nice thing about that Wide 9 D that Schwartz plays, gives you some flexibility in matchups. Big 99 is in the perfect situation right now. And he's still a young dude.

2014 NFL draft do over (I love this )
Webster Guy replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thought Buff was taking Calvin Benjamin, that would have been a solid pick but it's a fact that Sammy has won us a few games, so that's worth everything in my book. Dude needs to get on the field sunday. I think we will lose if he doesn't play. -
Guards are like a 1st baseman. You don't miss having a great one until you have a bad one, then you really really miss having one. It was unreal how many people had NO issue letting Levitre walk, despite knowing we were gonna start a rookie qb the following season and we had the room to at least tag the guy for last season, then evaluate our new guard talent for this year and decide to sign him or not. One of the most shortsighted calls since the Pat Williams move.

I like Cam, but I think the poor fella is awfully disoriented after last weeks game. I honestly wonder if he got a concussion during the game. He uses "Lack thereof" "per se" and "genetics" all incorrectly in a 23 second clip. I had to rewind it to see if I heard it wrong. http://youtu.be/GnNVAEUzyNc

yeah you're right. ugh. I just get so frustrated with Hackett it clouds my judgement. I've gotta get over it. I know its tough to run ANY play in the nfl without a serviceable Oline, its not all on him, but it's hard to not wonder what we could be like with an elite nfl OC.

If our Mickey Mouse offensive coordinator doesnt add any wrinkles to the run game, we'll be lucky to win 2 more the rest of the year.

What about Eric Wood to guard?
Webster Guy replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if they had tagged Levitre it would have allowed them to groom a few new draftees last year and find out what they had. If a backup guard prospect does well then you let Andy walk in year 2, and if not then you sign him. I am still completely baffled by the number of people that think it was a good idea to let Levitre go, yet have no idea that we had the money to retain a guy that loved Buffalo, knew the divisional opponents well, was durable and had great chemistry with Eric Wood. I rank that move up there with not retaining Pat Williams, and Antoine Winfield. What the hell are you thinking? In Andy's case we had a rookie qb with a turnstile LG protecting his blindside. Genius. -
According to Hackett he loves the criticism. What a joke. He was actually taking credit for scoring all of those points, and ignoring the obvious fact that the offense has drastically underacheived this year. It was like he doesn't think Bills fans understand football, that we would think a high point total must mean the offense is doing great. What a weenie. He reminds me of Kiffin.

What about Eric Wood to guard?
Webster Guy replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
good point. richardson suh are top 2 in the league. -
He's not having a very good season. He's played guard before, wondering if they've considered shaking up the line and moving Eric to the LG spot. We don't have anything to lose, this line can't get much worse. Wait, that's a stupid thing to say. Unpost....unpost....

Anybody see Bradham's taunting penalty?
Webster Guy replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
not if he's averaging 2 stupid penalties a game. its immature and undisciplined. -
Havent Seen Bryce Brown do much...
Webster Guy replied to Braedenstearns's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
bryce needs some reps to get in the groove. same w urbik. bryce missed a few mediocre holes. dixon didnt do much either, as expected against the jets two trench monsters. kc game will offer some better space for our runners. -
My problem with Hackett has nothing to do with how many games we've won or lost. Obviously we're going to win if our defense gets 7 turnovers for us. You don't need an offensive coordinator to win a game handed to you like that. Orton could have just as easily called any play he wanted at the line based on the coverage and we'd have done at least as well, probably better. What you DO need an OC for is to get the most out of the personnel you have. To maximize your points and time of possession, exploit matchups, get the ball to your best talent, and keep the defenses guessing. We're spoiled because we've had Pettine and Schwartz as DC's on the other side of the ball, and we've seen what great coordinators with decades of NFL experience can do with talent. I don't see Hackett as being an outstanding coordinator, I see a guy calling plays who is afraid to lose instead of playing aggressive, and a guy that has shown a tendency to play directly into the strengths of the defenses we face. He'll be gone at the end of the year because Pegula doesn't care about money and coaches don't count against the salary cap. Hackett certainly isn't the best OC money can buy, that's for sure. I'm excited to see a new system in here with our talent. Meanwhile, we'll keep playing great defense and hoping to squeak out wins with our predictable gameplanning, and I'm still loving watching our guys. There's just room for better coaching offensively, and it's pretty obvious by now.

Losing to Houston was GREAT for us
Webster Guy replied to DC Greg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still think Marrone should have brought in Orton at halftime of the Texans game. It was obvious EJ was going nowhere, and bringing in Orton might have salvaged that game. Our coaches have always seemed to coach scared here in Buff. It's too bad. -
I thought the Patriots got rid of Spikes because he was a head case, but then we realized that he's a solid dude, good team guy, leader etc. So what was it? He's a great thumper in the middle, but the knock on him was his coverage skills. Today he looked like he was the slowest guy on the field by a lot. Did anyone else notice it? I understand Vick and Percy can make anyone look slow, but Brandon looked like Ray Lewis in those last few games before he retired, when all he was doing was chasing plays because he was a full step too slow. Even though Spikes is young still, I don't think he is looking very good out there as of late. Next year Kiko, Bradham and Brown will be the guys, and Spikes isn't costing us a ton so they'll likely keep him for depth, but he really is a situational guy and these extra reps they're trying to get him these last few games is a bad idea. I think the film this week is going to be pretty bad for #51.

Can we get some screens, sweeps, counters?
Webster Guy replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One more thing to add--the qb roll out. Orton is a sitting duck back there and Hackett calls the same plays that keep Kyle standing in the exact same spot every play. It's not hard for a defense to know where he's going to be. Roll outs save your qb from getting crushed, and give more time for receivers to get open. Also, I think the reason Marrone isn't calling plays is he doesn't want to associate himself too closely with Hackett, who is going to be let go at the end of the season. The kid is over his head and has been since he came into the NFL. If Marrone survives this season, which I think he will, Pegula will expect some significant changes. A top notch OC will be a high priority, maybe a Chip Kelly clone or someone similar. -
Kraig Urbik appears to have been freed
Webster Guy replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
they will get the stunt thing fixed. thanks to minny exploiting it all game, you can be sure they're all over it this week. if they dont we lose. -
agree w Hammersticks, this one is on Hackett. beat the blitz, you beat the Jets. My pet peeve with Hackett is that he hasnt trained our receivers to check the freaking defense and recognize a blitz BEFORE you run your route. If they bring pressure the routes need to get cut short or Orton's a deadman. Last year when Geno threw for 300 plus down there and we gave up 150plus on the ground it was because our offense was running 3 and outs all game and we couldnt protect. There were some plays when jets would send SIX and all of our receivers were out running go routes and never paying attention to the blitz. Wilkerson and Richardson are at least as good as Fairley and Suh. This is gonna be a dogfight. We need to roll out Orton more, run off tackle more, and use that double TE set like the Pats used against them. Keep our D fresh and frustrate Geno into a pick or two. No squibs against Percy please, and for god's sake get Bryce at least ten touches. we've got this.

Hackett is bad, like very bad
Webster Guy replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This thread has been going on and off since EJ took his first snap here. I'm not a Hackett fan but this needs to be said: Since Levitre walked our offensive line has never been the same. It's hard to get into an offensive rhythm when your qb has 2 seconds to throw the ball and your RB's have very minimal holes to run through. No matter how good you are as an OC, you can't compensate for a weak O line. Well, at least Hackett can't, and most coordinators in the league would probably be in the same boat with our team this year. EJ was better in the pocket but they didn't let him scramble and he isn't accurate. Orton is a statue but is a better passer. Pick your poison, it all starts with the big fellas. DeMarco Murray and Romo didn't just decide to get better this year because they were sick of losing. They have a killer Oline and as a result they're playing lights out. -
Lets look at Bryce Brown highlights
Webster Guy replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he's gonna chew up the Jets which is good because DLinemen wilkerson and richardson are better at collapsing the pocket than the Vikes are, and we all saw what happened yesterday. gonna have to run it well to beat the Jets. -
Yeah he doesn't have great pocket presence and certainly didn't have much of a pocket today at all. I think once in awhile he's going to need to tuck it and scramble for some yards and slide to avoid the hits. The poor guy is getting pummeled, and the worst part about it was that Cordy Glenn had his first bad day in a long time, so not only was he getting the usual pocket collapse like we've had since Levitre left, but he also had the blindside issues as well because we could not handle those twists and stunts from the left side. He never seems to care much though. Tough dude. If we block like that against the Jets, Richardson and Wilkerson will kill poor Orton. We aren't going to fix it in a week, so we'd damn well better be able to run the rock and stay out of 3 and longs or we'll lose in NY.

The Bills have the best Dline in the league
Webster Guy replied to TheBillsWillRiseAgain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, we got shafted on the Lynch trade. They got a top 10, durable running back, we got Hairston and Tank Carder. That sucks. But I agree its pretty unbelievable what an animal Hughes is out there. He's better than Mario in terms of pressure, and he's getting better every week. His spin move is getting lethal, his hands are so fast and he's relentless out there. He might get 15 sacks this year.
