2015 NFL Free Agent Class May Be the Best Ever
Webster Guy replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
this doesnt list the most important FA that we are going to sign Lupati the guard for 49'ers. I say let Hughes walk and put the money into getting Lupati. Instantly our offense will be improved with a pro bowl mauler in there between Wood and Glenn It will ease the pain of not having a first round draft pick and give us a chance to develop a qb that actually has time to throw the ball -
So Hackett is gone for sure now?
Webster Guy replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wondering what happens to Hackett now. I'd be surprised if our new head coach will be impressed when he watches the film on Hacketts offense. -

The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same
Webster Guy replied to KRT88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the trade down two years ago and subsequent "free" pick of Kiko was a fine piece of work by Whaley. sammy trade still way to early to assess. we don't even know what players we gave up for him yet. i like Whaley, hope he stays -
Current situation makes little sense. Where is this going?
Webster Guy replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You seem pretty sure of yourself. Are you basing this on TD's, receptions per target, their qb passer rating, blocking on run plays, average yards per reception, 3rd down conversions, playing with injuries, total yardage, YAC? -
the fact that they didnt take him in the 4th round means Whaley feels the guy simply has no shot at being a good NFL qb. Gruden felt he was the most NFL ready of all the qb's that year, I was shocked at how far he fell. He can sling it. Must be an accuracy issue or maybe he showed an inability to know where to go with the ball.

Exactly. This is what I was trying to say from the beginning. I guess I'm assuming we are still going to give EJ another chance, if not then of course we want the win, even if its a scrub win. Is the goal to get 9 wins or to win a superbowl? If its the latter then the preseason for next year starts the second you're mathematically eliminated. My hatred of the Pats isnt as strong as my desire to win a ring. I also believe EJ would have won the game for us, but I guess I'm more optimistic than most.

good post. its pretty much the same teams again this year in the playoffs, and they all have good qb's. i would add 2 qb's a year (draft one, get a free agent/trade) until I found one that could do the job. qb's make everybody look good, from the scouts to the Wr's, even the defense. Gotta get lucky to get one, we need some luck man.

Should The Bills Retain CJ Spiller?
Webster Guy replied to PolishDave's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the guy has a 5 yard per carry career average in the nfl thats ahead of a lot of great runners including demarco murray. i hope they keep him, maybe an incentive oriented contract if he'll go that way. -
Wrong. The "loser mentality" is when you get excited over winning a meaningless game against a backup rookie qb instead of being smart and using real game situations to develop your players so you can climb out of this playoff drought. I have a few thousand posts, and 99% of them are very optimistic. I just think we need to use every precious minute of regular season games to our advantage for the future when we're out of playoff contention. I see what some people mean by saying EJ hasn't practiced with the first team in months so it would be a waste of time.

Dropped further down the draft board, and watched our arch rival get valuable NFL experience for their bench QB while ours sat on the sideline the entire game. Our Oline did a pretty good job today in protection, it wouldn't have been like we were throwing EJ to the wolves. Did Orton need more playing time so we can evaluate him, or did EJ? Moves like this are so painfully shortsighted its laughable.

Buffalo Bills Challenge- Shave Their Heads Until Playoffs
Webster Guy replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i would become a jags fan if they did this. jags. -
Henderson needs to have a monster offseason. if he takes his job seriously, busts his butt on strength and conditioning, studies technique and his game film from this season, he could come back and be a force next year.
-
weve been pretty bad against the run for many games now. it wasnt just Dareus getting hurt. sully said we should cut him at the beginning of the year. surprising because sully's usually such a great sports visionary. marcel should be extended mid season next year, with a few behavior and off aeason conditioning clauses in there. he's so good now, it would be like letting pat williams go all over again.

This week is going to be very telling about the kind of organization we have. Brandon and Whaley say all that matters is winning a championship. Here we are with no playoff shot, our best chances of winning a championship in the future is to develop our young players for the future. If Orton starts instead of EJ, it's a blatant attempt to win a game for the coaches sake while ignoring the goal of developing young players to win playoff games down the road. Exactly like starting Van Pelt in meaningless games down the stretch when we should have had our young guys in there learning and gaining experience. My pet peeve with this club. Say one thing, do another.

draft O line and qb's next year. Nothing else. I want two new qb's, Orton gone, EJ competing in camp to win his job back from the rookies. All free agent qb's are garbage, it's why they're free agents. Cutler is no good anymore, he's really bad and has a ****ty locker room vibe. Our only hope now is to draft a few qb's and hope we get a mid round steal like NE and Seattle did.

Things are looking up for the Bills
Webster Guy replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
going for his 9th win this sunday on a team with weak qb play all year. Not a situation where you fire the coach. -
Anyone else sick of Eric Wood?
Webster Guy replied to GrizzlyAdams's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would be interested to see how he grades out this year. He played better with Levitre next to him. So did whoever we had at LT while Andy was here. Maybe having good guards will bring him back to his true form as a 1st round talent. -
Our running backs are all very good. All four of them. To call Bryce a waste of roster space when he's your 4th guy in the rotation is way off base. It wouldn't have mattered who was running, we had the awful combo of predictable play calling and poor line play. Nobody will do well in that situation. As far as Marrone goes, the guy is going for his ninth win of the year this Sunday with Orton and EJ at the helm. That's a significant improvement from last year, and better than a lot of HC's would be able to pull off. Its hard to tell how technical his offensive expertise goes because he's not a great speaker and he doesn't articulate the specifics of the gameplan in interviews, nor does he seem to think his OC is the problem. Either way I think Marrone should stay as head coach, and the new football guy Pegula brings in needs to closely evaluate Hackett's two seasons as an NFL OC and determine if he's the best dude we can hire for the job next year. I disagree with your assessment of Spikes, I think he was a letdown and will be used only on 3rd and short 8 in the box package next year if he's around at all. Love his character and leadership, but he's a full step too slow. Kiko, Preston, Nigel next year. Hughes goes elsewhere for the big money, we plug in Wynn and Lawson and they get 5 sacks each. We take the money we didn't blow on Byrd (thank god) and Hughes, and sign Dareus and the best FA guard money can buy. I still believe in CJ, especially if we get a new OC. The guy can shred teams if he gets better blocking.

Brandon is a Big part of the problem
Webster Guy replied to Toledo Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pegula is bringing in a football guy this offseason. If he brings in the right guy, Brandon won't be able to hurt us (if thats what he's doing). We need better scouting personnel and a professional proven NFL OC. Cant afford more Kujo picks, and we certainly can't afford poor gameplanning like yesterday. -
Doug Marrone and Offensive line
Webster Guy replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
we added 3 Olinemen in the draft, (one a 2nd rounder) and two more in free agency. only one panned out as good enough to crack the Starting lineup. They like him so much they put him alone against the defensive rookie of the year yesterday with zero help in the biggest game of the year to protect an immobile qb with zero pocket awareness. Blame whaley for the lack of talent, but our HC is to blame for lack of effective game planning. Sparano was ready, we werent. -
that and the field was re-sodded grass. it was coming out in chunks before the 1st quarter was over. not exactly the best for quick cut guys like CJ. he will do well on a turf field with a good OC and decent blocking. bills wont re- sign him.

Hackett leaving Henderson out to dry
Webster Guy replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
noticed that too. we were all clamoring for some more play action when freddy started getting some runs, but they never came. EJ does a nice job at play action but Orton isn't smooth enough for it. Like he can't get set and have his timing right. Frustrating. -
Deconstructing Marrone: Hackett Not To Blame
Webster Guy replied to Rivermont Mike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The OC's are hired and fired by the head coach in almost all situations. If Marrone insisted on keeping Hackett he would be able to convince Whaley and Pegula that the offensive ineptitude is a result of weak Oline and qb execution. He might be right. Hackett called a great game against Denver. It hurts me to say that but it's true.
