  1. Tyrod needs at least a full season to develop. Even though it is his 5th year in the league, he hasnt played much. The dude needs to get a thousand more snaps under center tjis year and a full offseason, training camp, and go into next season as the clearcut starter. Only then can you tell what you have.
  2. I'm not sure what people expect from a backup qb when there are no more than a dozen guys in the world that are consistently good at the position in the first place. All backups have some good moments, and most of them throw at least one pick per game, sometimes more than one (as Cassel did on three back to back possessions tonite, two of them were just awful, embarrassing throws from the one time pro bowl qb) This doesn't mean the GM loses his job or that Rex sucks, it means we don't have a great backup qb like the VAST majority of teams in this league. EJ was not seeing the middle of the field well at all. He wasn't keeping track of where the linebackers and safeties were, he was staring down his guys sometimes (as do a lot of qb's including Tyrod). He doesn't have a great touch on the short stuff. We made some second half adjustments, EJ ended up with 300 yards and a few td's and couple of picks. His biggest mistake of the game was not doing a quick glance to his left to be sure the blitz wasn't coming. A lot of qb's make that mistake, and today it cost us the game. strip sack, and TD in the same play. He should know better. He should know they're going to blitz him and he should know how to be prepared to recognize it and act swiftly and decisively. He didn't look to his left quickly and it cost us 7. Blame the qb coach and Roman and EJ for that because that's fundamental football failure, but not for throwing a few picks on the road as a backup qb. And blame the ref who threw that game changing crap call. I don't care what argument anybody makes, it was a bad call, and if it doesn't happen we win that game.
  3. another reason Rex should have had the fragile Goodwin on WR duties only. Putting him on kick returns was shortsighted. We need a burner out there for certain situations and now we don't have one. Goody gets separation on the long routes, we need the guy even more now than ever.
  4. No story here. Move on people.
  5. Gilmore and colton schmidt are our two pro bowlers this year. Dareus might get in and Clay also but there are some solid TE's in the afc. Underrated: my ralph wilson halloween costume i made last year. Completely awesome but somehow under-appreciated. I changed it to a skeleton this year because thats probably what the ol' cheapster looks like about now. Overrated: this thread, butterfinger candy bars, all my ex girlfriends, belichick, solomon wilcots 6 set dvd program: "correct your speech at home in as little as 30 minutes a day"
  6. Did anyone expect to be any better than 4-3 going into the bye week? I didn't. We've lost to three tough teams, two of which are undefeated, we'll win next week and get some boys healthy over the bye week, which we desperately need. R E L A X
  7. that catch was the backbreaker though. i would have challenged it.
  8. I would take our defense and every player on our team including our coaches over the Pats personnel except for Gronk and Brady. Football comes down to a game of whoever has the better qb will win 90% of the time. Its that simple. I like our qb, he's a little banged up right now but i think you'll see him develop a lot between now and year's end. We need this bye week.
  9. We've got a qb with 70 percent completion percentage in his first 5 career starts who shows a nice touch on long balls and last week proved he can win games on his own. Qb is not the issue. 21 points at home should have won this game.
  10. Stupid to put him on kick returns, especially on a day with Percy inactive. We called the injury before it happened.
  11. If shady plays next week like he did today, we will beat the Jags and go into the bye week 4-3, with our three losses to teams with a combined record of 15-2, two of them undefeated. Thats not grounds for freaking out or declaring this a lost season. Doesn't mean Rex is the wrong guy either. We aren't stopping the run right now even when we know its coming. Not the coaches fault. I cant ever remember any NFL squad being as banged up as we are right now. When Goodwin went down we only had 2 legit receivers left on the team. We need this next win and the bye week to start getting guys healthy, then we'll start winning again.
  12. i just googled satellite spot broadcasting, it doesn't look good for you guys, sorry. Looks like an oval about 250-400 miles. The RV geeks are always posting about it.
  13. Yeah they will do a download and system reset, then you should have full Buff locals. But only if the install address you give them is in Buff. Like I said earlier, make sure you stay on the phone through the install location reset, there are a few times the DTV people don't do it right and you keep seeing your regular local channels JR you would be able to get around the spot broadcast if you're in Pitt because it's in line with the satellite (SW of Buff).
  14. If you have directv and live outside of buffalo but are worried about the streaming nonsense, just do what i've done every year from my rochester home to get every blacked out game for the past 15 years. (I dont mind sharing this now because they finally stopped blacking out games so this technique would normally not be needed anymore, but in this case it will help if you have a sub par streaming situation) Call direct tv and tell them you are going to be staying at your cottage in buffalo for awhile, and you brought your receiver and your dish off your house with you. You'll need to have a buffalo address so go to whitepages and find any address in buffalo. Tell them to keep your billing address the same but they need to switch your INSTALL address to buffalo so you can get the local channels while you are staying there. Rv's and cottagers do this all the time. If they say they need to send a tech out to install your dish just say you already did it, and you are in buffalo standing in front of your tv with a good signal, but you want them to switch on the buffalo local channels. Remember they have no idea where in the world you are, nor do they really care. Be sure to stay on the phone until you actually see the local channels change to buffalo. Now you can watch it in hd and record it like any normal game. Call em up the next day and say you are back home please switch your install address to your normal billing address. All done. I live in roch and used this method to get around all blackouts by calling in a watertown ny address (outside blackout zone but still close enough that they televised bills games). This method might not work if you are hundreds of miles way from Buffalo because im pretty sure dtv spot-broadcasts, meaning they probably wouldnt send a signal for buffalo locals to florida. As long as you are fairly close, like WNY or at least in the line of broadcast (any point from the satellite wedge which probably looks like a pie shape from san diego to maine)
  15. Synch up with murph and kelso on the radio. Just get an hd antenna and you'll be good to go (satellite tv is delayed a bit so you cant synch live radio) Theyre bills biased, know the team personnel in depth, and always tell you what the penalty is way before the tv dolts do.
  16. Leo isnt going to replace our first 3 corners, they're all playing well right now. Rex will probably just phase him in on dime situations and ramp him up for depth if and when gilmore, darby or robey gets hurt. Id rather see rambo at ss and corey playing fs before inserting Leo in a new role.
  17. I guarantee he did not grade out well when Roman watched the film. Eric Wood on WGR made an unsolicited comment about Mulligan around week 1 saying he was a monster blocker with great technique etc. I agree with the posters here, he doesnt seem to be an impact guy. Would rather see kujo or even gragg or marQUis in that spot. They need to try a goal line Block/release as a receiver in the flat play with mulligan, hes definitely under the radar at this point.
  18. Crossman has to be on the hotseat. Schmidt is punting his way to the pro bowl, which is likely the only reason Crossman still has a job. Still can't understand why we're hiring guys off the street to field punts (almost cost us the game yesterday with the fumble) when Percy Harvin is on the team. I understand he's not normally a punt return guy, but how can he not at least be competing for the job these days?
  19. Dixon had the best block on a blitzing linebacker I've ever seen by a back. Not sure which play, it was in the second half. Pancaked the poor guy. Impressive. his running speed is another issue...............
  20. TT is looking like a streaky player. Maybe he got the disease from Flacco. He needs to work on his touch for the short passes, they were pretty awful. Hogans TD pass was low and behind him, nice effort making that grab for the win. Sweet long ball to Hogan, then the trick play with Hogan throwing the ball to Tyrod, then the TD pass. It was an ugly win, but it felt awesome at the end.
  21. I can't even joke about Hughes and his ridiculous inability to control himself. 15 yard penalties can cost teams entire games. The guy is playing good ball but his penalties negate everything we are trying to do on defense. This is where having a players coach like Rex can hurt you. A guy like Coughlin or belichick would take one look at Hughes multiple 15 yard tantrum penalties from last year and put the fear of God in him. The guy has already had 5 stupid penalties this year, it's a joke.
  22. He was college-open most of the day against the Giants. Titans will be focused on him this Sunday but the big boys that can run and catch are hard to handle for any defense. He's gotta be glad he's not in Miami anymore.
  23. I disagree. Left tackle, best WR, your elite runner and starting RG with a qb in his 4th career start is not that easy to overcome for a young offense that played very little together in preseason. you're calling it an excuse, its more of a harsh reality.
