the Legend's one-handed INT in the end zone early this season was pretty awesome though. still glad we did the trade.

Karlos Williams vs Todd Gurley
Webster Guy replied to JPicc2114's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh my god what a lame thing to say. Uh ok, i'll go tell my kids not to like karlos too much. Where are those posters they made up for the game, i'm burning them. -
Nah, that wasn't from someone else's post, it was my observation. if you asked me before the season I'd have put Robey as our best cover guy. He's getting beat more frequently and for some reason hasn't been utilized for blitzing as much as in the past. I think you might see Leodis take over slot corner. Rex isn't exactly a cover 2 guy, especially with Gilmore and Darby tearing it up, not sure how else he would get Leodis in play other than the ocassional dime package. Also wondering if Rambo is going to work his way into SS job for good. Ripping the ball out of Chris Ivorys paws is no simple task. The dude has a knack for the ball thats for sure.

Last week Dareus was really sick and almost didn't play, this week Mario is ill and absent. We need em both for Patriots game, get it together boys. Our offensive line is not great, but this makes 2 consecutive games where they have blasted open some serious holes for the runners against some of the best run stoppers in the league like Suh, Wilkerson etc. Nice job boys, keep it up. Why can't we put Karlos 7 yards deep in the backfield and let him use the momentum to pound instead of lining him up only three yards deep next to TT in the shotgun on every play he's involved in? This season continues to confound us, with Robey struggling and Darby looking like the vet, our front 7 looking lukewarm and Roman doing trick plays in short yardage situations instead of hammering it in there with our awesome rb duo. Leodis looks rusty but catching up. Sammy had Revis completely smoked on a few of those routes, including the double move on the early longball. Evidence of a short week to prepare, otherwise he and TT are in the same page and he puts that throw on the money to open the game with an 80 yarder. Either way Revis is probably feeling lucky he didn't give up too much tonite because he can't handle Sammy very well at all. Forget the low numbers Watkins had, Revis can't be looking forward to coming to Buff in the cold and trying to contain him again.

Bills O poised to make serious noise
Webster Guy replied to Heitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ill take it one step further and say there is no way we move the ball on the ground against the Jets. We just arent going to have the kind of holes we had against Miami, not even close. Hope I'm wrong. The keys will be Clay and Woods, our dbacks getting us at least one pick, and Mario/dareus having their best efforts of the year. -
My pregame thoughts about the Jets
Webster Guy replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont see us running well at all against the jets. They have a front 3 built to dominate against the run. Clay and Woods keys to offense, Dareus and Mario on D. -
A little unrelated, but fitz and the jets with a winning record reminds me of how good a game caller Chan is. The guy is the best OC around, and has been for a long time in my book. So good he got promoted to HC which isnt where he's best. Same with Wade as a DC. Those guys are still among the best coordinators in the game.

Im not a big Preston fan, and I agree that his lateral movement isn't great, but he's been hitting hard this year, I'll give him that. Bradham seems more of a liability to me. Whaley has to have 2 new LB's in camp next year to push these guys.

Stevie Johnson, Same As He Ever Was
Webster Guy replied to thronethinker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, his penalty very well may have cost them the game. 1st and goal at the 2 and he takes em back to passing distance at the 7. He trained at the Jerry Hughes school of discipline and professional conduct. -
When you say he was always a bust, were you watching when he had a 1700 all-purpose yard, 8 touchdown season, averaging SIX YARDS per carry on over 200 touches? That was awesome, every time he touched the ball we were all wondering if he was going to get that hole and blow it open. Fun to watch for sure. Definitely an inconsistent career, multiple injuries and different coaches, but to say he was always a bust implies he never had any success and that's simply not true.
-
Yeah brown and bradham are very inconsistent. Hard hitters, but very mediocre overall this year. Brown is serviceable but I think Nigel will not be re signed unless he gets it together for the 2nd half of the season here.
-
I honestly think he is too. There is no way you can be that undisciplined unless you have a major screw loose. It must be what makes him tough to block because he goes mental once the ball is snapped.

The thing that baffles me is that we're getting stellar play from gilmore and darby, which I understood in preseason to be the only possible reason this defense would not be tops in the league. Instead our challenges have become our penalties, front seven, special teams (except punting), and an exceptionally injury prone offense at the skill positions.

What song best describes the Bills at Mid-Season?
Webster Guy replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rush. I think I'm going bald. -
Theyre both durable, at this point on our offense thats all the seems to matter. We recently had easley as our 3rd receiver and Herron as our best runner, ej our only qb who was in camp. Whaley needs to give more value to durability in his future personnel assessments

Final TD hold against Hughes
Webster Guy replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When we traded up for the Sammy pick, i thought we were going for Khalil Mack. Imagine if we had, and we just let hughes and all his undisciplined play and huge contract go away this past offseason. We would be a totally different defense. -
Bryce Brown signs with Seahawks
Webster Guy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Strange that Whaley kept Bryce on the team for so long, and yet when the time came that all three of our RB's were hurt, he didn't even grab Bryce back from the waiver wire for league minimum, despite the fact that he knew the offense and the team, and has decent NFL starter experience under his belt. My guess is the fumbling killed his chances to be taken seriously as a contributor. -
You cant challenge everything, that's what a lot of posters are missing here. It still stays at 2 challenges, and you can only challenge a penalty, not just contest any play you want. (another thing some people seem to be confused on here) The number of challenges doesn't increase, the league simply gets rid of the rule that you can't challenge certain calls. Hey if the refs review it and aren't sure, then the call stands as usual, but what about those big, game changing calls that replay clearly shows them calling incorrectly? I never said every play reviewable. that would be stupid. every FLAG can be challenged, up to two per game like it is now.

There has been a lot of talk about the NFL replay system and how to make it better. We all know it's a relatively new system that has now become a big part of the NFL game and its here to stay. We also know that there are times when it doesn't work, like a few weeks ago in the Chiefs Bengals game when Mike Carey the referee consultant for the network says Kelce's arm clearly hit the ground before the ball came loose and the play should be overturned, then the refs spend another 60 seconds looking at it and rule the exact opposite, all while looking at the exact same camera angles that Carey was. That kind of stuff is strange, but it's bound to happen and is probably not fixable (two trained officials looking at the same replay but drawing opposite conclusions), but what IS fixable is to allow the coaches to challenge all plays, as Belichick has recently said he supports. The Calvin Johnson fumble a few weeks ago against Seattle at the end of the game should have resulted in Detroit the ball at the 1 yard line. The refs gave the Seahawks the ball by mistake even though they clearly batted the ball out of the endzone intentionally. It cost Detroit the game (by the way, that would put Seattle at 2-5 right now. Wow.) The refs made a mistake, but the Lions couldn't review the play because the NFL says you can only look at some plays but not others, and intentionally batting the ball out of bounds is apparently on that list. Its ridiculous. You have all this time and energy into a system and doesn't work on a crucial play with an obvious mistake (for those who knew the rule, which incredibly wasn't the refs, the announcers, me, or the guy who batted the ball out of the endzone). If we opened up the replay to all calls and THEN Detroit's coach doesn't throw the red flag, it's their fault for not knowing the rules, but if they DID know the rule and can't throw the flag, then the replay system needs tweaking because it's not living up to what it's supposed to do. Murph said in the post game show that each team has a replay designate that tell them to throw the flag or not. They see the replays upstairs immediately, and have access to all the angles they have in New York where the replay officials are looking. Belichick says if you're going to have instant replay, then stop limiting the challenges to only certain plays. To say "well we can't really determine intent on film, that has to be real time" (a common argument against opening replay up to all calls) simply isn't true. Pass interference and illegal contact are much easier to call in HD slow motion, as would a hands to the face or facemask call. Say for example Rex is told by his guy through the headset that Robey was obviously playing the ball and clearly did not interfere illegally with the receiver on that last critical drive, which is what everyone saw except the line ref who wasn't really in position to make the call anyway. Rex throws the flag, they look at it and make the determination. Remember, the system is designed so that the evidence has to be conclusive, if it isn't, the call stands and everyone moves on, not feeling robbed by a ref's mistake. The sames rules would apply as they do now with replays. Lose a timeout if there is no overturn, and only 2 per game allowed. I would also cut down the time allowed to look at the play by 15 seconds, if you can't see it in the time allowed then the play stands. The NFL is averaging 2 minutes per call, that is too long as we all know watching the angles on our own tv's. Usually we can tell from our couches in 15 seconds, the goal would be 90 seconds. They already shaved 30 seconds of the average review in the first 8 years, keep it going. Make it faster and better, but most importantly let's allow all teams the chance to get an honest review on any play they feel was called incorrectly. I care most about getting it right, not having to live with whatever the ref thinks they saw. Sincerely, Robey's mom

Failed Expectations, Rex Ryan is not a leader of men
Webster Guy replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont agree, and I didn't hear "many" former players other than dopey Jace Amaro say Rex lost the locker room or wasnt always accountable. He gets his team to play hard, and we need a coach with a personality like him more today than any other time, going to the bye week and on a losing streak. Im more concerned with the x's and o's right now. Defense is having periodic meltdowns, and Roman seems to be scripting nice opening drives but calling games that put too much pressure on the wrong players and not enough on the right ones (like Shady and Clay yesterday). Miami game is 13 days away, we need to kick some ass and get back on track. This will be a good coaching test.
