  1. Playoffs isn't the only measure that matters. Some teams make the playoffs with losing records like the Seahawks in 2010 and Carolina a few years ago. So you're saying those teams who lost more than they won are better than the teams with 10 wins that didn't get in because of their tougher divisions? Nah. Just because everyone else in your division sucks doesn't make you a good team. The measures that matter are wins and losses, points for and against, performance against common opponents etc.
  2. It all starts with this Sunday, then we'll be favored for the last three games unless Miami somehow goes on a 2 week crush. I feel like we have a great Oline, great linebackers and two stud runners but it ends there. We need a few turnovers to beat Pitt, but they're not that good defensively this year and we should be able to hammer the ground game. One game at a time baby
  3. That's the issue. Takes lots of investment in time and coaching to develop a qb to the point where you have enough info to make the decision to keep or cut. Years, really.....
  4. In keeping with the Dareus and Karlos inspired tradition of trying to perform while out of shape and overweight, I give you Axl Rose... Presale tix coming in a few days.
  5. 24 points on the road is a reasonable goal for an NFL offense. Gotta see the All-22 yet, but it seemed like we tried everything to crack that Raiders O-line and we just couldn't collapse the pocket until 4 seconds or so went by. They tried overloading a side, stunts, delayed blitz, safety and corner blitz. That freakin O-line is seriously impressive. We didn't lose because the Ryans forgot how to coach or Dennis Thurman didn't have the team prepared with a good game plan, we lost because we had a rookie corner in his first start, Mack forcing two turnovers, Sammy still rusty, TT with poor accuracy overall, and a lack of adequate pressure on Carr. Strange because we have a really good front 7 that has rotational depth and solid nfl experience. This reminded me of the Jets game: wr's running free FAR too often.
  6. I tend to agree with this simply because of how godawful our O-line was with EJ for most of his starts. Its strange how people expected EJ to step in against Jacksonville and be red hot from the first snap. He actually settled down and played well for the majority of that game, which we ended up losing because of a ridiculous P.I. call. If Lynn keeps calling designed runs for TT and option plays, we're gonna see EJ sooner than later because Tyrod is gonna get a shoulder or collarbone im tellin ya.... he's too small to take this many hits.
  7. Exactly. Load her up on the vitamin P and yank that little Clay soldier outta there already. By the way, did anyone ever think about how nice and smooth a scheduled C-section would have gone for everyone involved here. Certainly nicer on the baby, my daughter barely knew she was born. Great way to enter the world and if it helps us beat Oakland, well.......
  8. Despite any injuries, the Raiders will do exactly what Jville did--stack the box and stop Shady. Irvin and Mack are fast enough set the edges and force him inside, or to change direction and run backwards (yikes) But 8 in the box only means 3 db's. Our qb completed just a dozen passes last week, he's gonna have to sling it a lot more than that to keep up with Carr. Shady can't win us this game if they're keying on him every play. No rb can. Would like to see Lynn show the same inventiveness he displayed in the Seattle game and keep the D on their heels.
  9. It sucks that this has to be an injury related thing, but I agree with the OP this is very good for the development of our team. The fact is all cb's get torched in this league, the goal is to have a pair that get burned less often than most. Its all about reps, putting down film on yourself in real game situations and getting coached up to learn, refine his technique and start locking down receivers. He hits better than most too.
  10. We do worse against teams that have the run stuffers like the Jets, Miami and even Jacksonville. Better against the teams built to pass rush which is why we'll beat Oakland but lose to the Jets again
  11. After somehow getting 3 killer Linebackers in Hughes, Zach and Lorax without burning a single draft pick, I'm starting to think Whaley's magic touch is moves like this and not the draft. Wondering why he wasn't cracking the lineup when Ebron was out half of this season though....
  12. Henderson was a pothead his whole life, got him in trouble multiple times throughout college, well before his Crohns issue. See ya.
  13. Yup. As we've learned having a deep ball thrower like TT, there is a lot more to the long ball than just straight speed. Reacting to the ball, body positioning, leverage, fading in slightly on the go routes so you have space between you and the sideline to use in making the catch (sammy's last bomb he did it perfectly). Frankly I'm still amazed Goodwin was able to come into the camp so late this year and claim the wr3 spot. He's a nice kid but I look forward to the day he's replaced.
  14. After watching Miami fail to get the ball inside the Rams red zone ONCE until the last 5 minutes of the game last week, and Seattle scoring a whopping 5 points in Tampa yesterday, and the Steelers defense looking very old and slow and the Patriots stinking up the joint against the Jets I'm convinced that the Any Given Sunday Rule is more true today than ever in this league: We have a legitimate shot to beat any team in this league.
  15. Total attempts to Int is a much more meaningful stat. Some teams are better equipped to run more in the red zone. Better backs, Oline, etc.
  16. I just love how big 99 tackles people, it's unlike any other player we have, even Kyle. The ball carrier just stops progress and gets trainwrecked in the opposite direction, doesn't matter if it's 250lb Legarette Blount or a qb, it's fun to watch. Wilfork and Suh are the other 2 in that class of beast.
  17. Gotta see the All 22 film before you criticize the qb's decisions on where to go with the ball. Was nice to see #14 back out there. Very exciting! 80 yards is a great showing after being out 2 months.
  18. Remember last year near the end of the season when Roman called Tyrod runs more frequently? I was surprised to see Lynn starting up that trend again last game. TT has taken some major hits these past few weeks, and Lynn needs to back off on the option and designed runs or we're going to lose our qb. His style of play guarantees he'll be taking hits regardless, and we'll still get plenty of first downs with his legs. If I were Lynn I'd push Tyrod to stay in the pocket ONE second longer and learn to step up and throw with the proper footing instead of the usual, one read and i'm scrambling then throwing on the run in space. He has solid pocket presence and a good enough line to give him time. The other added bonus for staying in the pocket is the Drew Brees factor--if you slide up in the pocket you usually have less people to see over and clearer look downfield. Either way he's taking hits, I'd rather see him do it hanging in the pocket and slinging it than running college style option plays that no NFL qb can sustain.
  19. Not for me man. Success is if I have fun watching my team on Sunday for 16 games. If they're interesting enough to keep looking forward to the games, and enjoyable to follow on sites like this. Playoffs are great, but icing on the cake. Bengals make it every year and lose first game for 5 years straight now. It's about the RIDE man....
  20. If we let Gilmore go I think it helps the team. He's not that good people. If he wasn't a 1st rounder this wouldn't be a conversation. Take the money and sign Robert, plus another solid free agent wideout or tight end. Put Seymour in Gilmore's spot and watch the kid do just as well.
  21. Kyle, Shady, not sure about O linemen because I never watch the other team's individual line players, hard to compare to what we have. Hughes is marginal but 7 penalties already this year, including three 15 yarders make me inclined to keep him off the list. It's great to have skills, but playing football also involves discipline, a team-first approach and the ability to play within the rules of the game. Everybody gets a few penalties, but Jerry is too loose for my liking. Probably doesn't help with a chilled out HC like Rex. Not sure about Felton, there aren't many fullbacks left and he's sure had some killer plays this year. He's been to the pro bowl before in Minny. oops I forgot Lorax. duh
  22. I still like watching them play on Sunday, thats all that matters to me. Playoffs or not, this is a fun team. Tyrod has his shortcomings but he's the most elusive scrambler in the game right now. Lynn seems to call far less long balls than Roman did. It's one of Tyrod's strengths, and Goodwin/Harvin can both fly. Let's see some more of that next week and blow out the Jags.
  23. Interesting how we havent thrown many longballs in recent weeks. Its one of Tyrod's strengths, and Percy n Goodwin are both burners, yet it seems like Lynn is more hesitant to throw deep than Roman was. Wondering if we'll start to see more of that soon, especially if Sammy comes back in good form.
  24. If he can't re-injure himself, as the trainers say, why don't they just give him a numbing shot before he plays and get him out there.
