  1. And their division is tougher now too.
  2. Well said. This is also made worse by an increasing demand for content and the fact that negative online articles are proven to get more clicks. Journalism takes a back seat and the negative opinion columns rule the day. Felser rolling over in his grave....
  3. Millionaire twenty-somethings having fun? This is an outrage. I see lots of clicks on this topic..... lets run with it boys...
  4. and yet his defense this year was very mediocre. the guy is another Dave Wannstedt, sure he's had great defenses but he's also had lousy ones. he's by no means doing anything special or tricky or exceptional as a coach. frankly i thought Pettine had a better feel for when to blitz, what packages to have in, etc.
  5. Here's what I see happening: Lynn stays put as OC and continues to learn. The jump from running backs coach to head coach is too much. The guy hasn't even installed his own offense yet and has a lot to learn about everything outside of the running game. Coughlin gets the nod for HC. I call him TC 2.0 now because he seemed to soften a little bit over the years and isn't such a sour puss anymore. His Giants players loved him and we would too. Upstate NY roots and ties with Terry already. He brings in a 4-3 D.C., a young physical strong safety, Ragland and Shaq both win starting jobs in the new defense and we get this defense nasty again. Tyrod re-negotiates a $12M deal with incentives. Gets a new blue chip WR to add to the Sammy, Woods mix. And the best part is I sign off this message board for 2 months until we get closer to the draft so I can avoid all the negativity which is completely out of hand.
  6. Me too. And help sell seats for everyone because travel distance decreases. This is such a logical move, it would take about half a season and everyone would love it. Bengals 5 year playoff team until this year. Did you have more fun at the patriots game or browns game this year?
  7. I would leave LB alone this year. Retain Zach and get us a young tough strong safety that can cover TE's and be physical against the run. Safety and WR first priority. Kicker and a special teams return guy who can also play corner. And draft a few hot college cheerleaders, some of ours are gettin long in the tooth....
  8. Wait an actual positive post with FACTS, some insight and even a clarification for the fools that keep saying he cost us two 1st round picks (hint: 2 picks minus 1 sammy = 1 pick) Good post. Watkins was the best wr in the NFL for 2nd half of the season last year, and we got to see him warm up a little here at the end of this season. He's great and a solid teammate too. Wait til he gets another stud WR and another year healthy with TT.
  9. Regardless of scheme, you still need guys that can beat OT's with some level of consistency and apply qb pressure. His special teams play, leadership and motor put him back on this team for sure next year.
  10. Every OC under Brady is going to look great. Judge him during Brady's injuries and during his time in Denver. I'll pass.
  11. I think Kyle could leverage his possibility of retirement with Marcel and get the big dummy to agree to take his offseason seriously, stay clean and show up at camp in the best shape of his life so Kyle doesnt have to carry the load by himself again. I think Douzable would win a starting spot if they play a 4-3. He really came on this year. Listed 6'4 305 but seemed quicker than that to me.
  12. We could have had the best coach in league history yesterday and still would have lost.
  13. We would have been tied w miami at 9-7 and won the tiebreaker there, would that have been enough if we beat the Jets yesterday?
  14. I cant think of a better move, both in p.r. value and adding a hard working, classy, tough, intelligent football veteran to your coaching staff.
  15. Well said. I think the one thing that has saved Sully's job in recent years is that most of the articles today are read online, and therefore can be tracked by clicks. And the sad truth is that negative headlines draw far greater clicks and views, which loosely translates to better advertising revenues. So despite his lack of quality writing, guys like Sully can still eek out a living by hacking their way through their jobs. The ones that suffer most are those of us who aren't negative and know the team as well as he does. Most fans aren't as dialed in as the readers of this board so they can't see Sully for what he really is.
  16. And the last one I'll remember of him was the simple tackle he decided to not use his arms on. You know, those two muscular things that grab opponents that your pop warner coach showed you how to use? Seymour starting at corner has been the plan all along, this will be great training for the rook. He's got very good potential.
  17. This would change the parameters for sure. I'm assuming we are in reasonably good shape cap wise and could handle a 15m allocation for the qb. I suppose the other way is retain everyone within reason and go for a big name free agent or two in other areas of need. Any good safeties or kickers hitting the market?
  18. If another Bills fan tells me they shouldn't pay Tyrod $27 million I'm going to whack them. Its like they're actually writing the check and it's stressing them out. There has to be some sort of clinical term for this phenomena, but in case there isn't, here are few things to keep in mind to ease your stress: 1. Tyrod's base salary next year would only be $3M more than we paid him this year. He'd go from $9M to $12M. The remaining $15M is option bonus money and would be spread out over the length of the deal. So we add another $3M which puts his total cap hit is around $15M. This puts him in the lower half of the NFL qb cap hit, probably around 20th. 2. We aren't signing a franchise qb in the offseason. In case you haven't noticed, with the exception of the super rare Drew Brees scenario (the best F.A. signing of all time) or the rare Payton Manning/Brett Favre end of career moves, that just doesn't happen, and if it did, you'd very likely see them go to a larger market. So we either keep TT, draft a new qb, grab some backup guy or injury prone old timer off the waiver wire, or start Cardale Jones or EJ. 3. Our offense scores a lot of points with Tyrod in there, and that's with a coordinator change mid-season. We rank 6th overall in the NFL. More than Big Ben, Luck, Cousins, Rivers, Dak, Cam etc. OUR OFFENSE SCORES POINTS! At the end of the game, the points matter, there isn't a place on the scoreboard that shows the passing ranking of your qb. Plus it's fun to watch, which for me is equally important. So paying the guy who leads this 26ppg offense below average money is what Terry is going to do. Don't worry it won't cost you a penny.
  19. If I were HC I'd keep Lynn as OC and bring in Pettine for a lengthy DC interview with game film and detailed analysis of how he would change things, and what parts of the system he would keep. Pettine is a great game caller as we all remember.
  20. Tasker always says you never call timeout when the other team has to rush out and kick a big field goal in a hurry. It gives them more time to set up, assess the wind, footing, etc. The timeout thing is meaningless in the big picture anyway. I've been defending Rex but he lost me yesterday. Wasted 2 timeouts in the first half on stupidity, let Lynn get too fancy with the Reggie Bush call, punting away with 4 min left was such a joke when a tie eliminates you from playoffs. He says every coach punts there, but not when you're getting gashed all day on defense. It was like he forgot we couldn't stop them all day.
  21. I agree 100% Yes you have the right to. It's called playing for your teammates and the school you love and bleed for. Jalen had insurance and is set for life by the way, so there goes your money argument. I find it funny that so many people think that this is the right thing to do: sit out the biggest game of your life and screw everyone else. Pussies. When GM's look at these guys, they'll know what kind of character they're getting: jay cutler types. Good luck with that.
  22. Whaley picked up 2 LB's off the waiver wire that will both be in the pro bowl this year. Shady and TD Mike a top notch duo. Hughes pick up was excellent GM work. Got Tyrod for nothing, got Richie for nothing. With the exception of safety and RT I think I'd grade Whaley at an A. I think the OP is confused on Mike Evans, he was gone by the time we took Sammy no? You have to admit that Watkins was dominant and durable in college, and was probably the best WR in the league for the 2nd half of last year. I liked the pick even though it cost us ONE pick the following year. Can't pin Sammy's injuries on Whaley, he had no way of predicting this. Shaq is still a baby we don't know anything about what kind of pro he will be until next season. Oh and the Patriots don't draft well at all. Look it up.
  23. Jerry's already taking credit for the pick even though they tried hard to get Paxton Lynch and couldn't work a trade up so they "settled" for Dak. Lucky ducks. They got the best running back and qb in the nation in one draft. If that linebacker pans out for them its an all time best draft
  24. So we could crush them again like last year and kill their playoff shot after a 10 win season? Yeah ok.
  25. So it turns out Tyrod ISNT the franchise qb but we're firing Rex because he didn't make the playoffs with a 32nd ranked passer and half the season with Goodwin as the #1 wr and our #1 and #2 draft picks essentially missing the season? Ok.
