  1. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/jared-cook-packers-only-in-green-bay/ I wish more players could write like this, so much better than the alternative...... I also wonder what Kyle Williams would say if he read this, as Cook portrays 7 years without the playoffs as an eternity.
  2. is that why they had a lower ranked defense than Rex had this year?
  3. Our LB's are perfect size, but I agree with you on WR's. No more Goodwin or TJ Graham types ever, it's a nightmare and always ends up burning us. I want guys that are tough like Robert Woods, but make sure they're thick, solid dudes. Enough of the Hunters and Dez types too. Draft bodies like Josh Reed, Hines Ward, Edelman, Golden Tate, Steve Smith etc. I think we will take best safety available at 10 and best WR available at 42.
  4. Translation: I'm broke and I'm getting on this sue the NFL train. Meanwhile, I'll get a Go Fund Me page working and pickup some scratch for an extra doctor in the Carribean this winter.
  5. Big Cat you always steal my exact lines before I get to the end of thread. I'm putting you on probation.
  6. correction. 8-8 under marrone. The Patriots put the rookie in for the 2nd half, they would have smoked us. Hackett was hired more for his enthusiasm and youth than anything. That's worth something, but the kid wasn't ready. He might be now, I hope he does well down there in the land of empty seats. The best thing Marrone did was hire Pettine. He ran a fun defense and seemed to have a perfect sense of when to bring 5 or 6 guys. I was hoping Pegula would have given Rex another year and demanded he bring in Pettine to organize the defense and call the games.
  7. Great guys for sure. I loved Rex's personality and positive attitude. It got him hired and kept things entertaining in a sport that has a relatively short season with lots of slow downtime. His two shortcomings were attention to detail in organizing the squads/sub packages, and slow adjustments/counters on defense during some of the games. Otherwise I loved the guy and will miss his enthusiasm and sense of humor. McDermott already puts me to sleep after 2 minutes.
  8. Good post. I disagree with the EJ thing being stupid at the time, because they saw some big upside to a hard working, intelligent leader. A McNair type of guy maybe. I'll never blame a GM reaching a bit for a qb when they don't have one. Its funny how a lot of posters think there some sort of definitive way to judge who is the best player available. There isn't such a thing. Is the best kicker in the draft better than the best punter available? Yes if you're the Bills, but no if you're the Ravens or Packers. You can't feed uncertain variables into an equation and get certain answers. The draft is a ton of guesswork and luck, with gut instincts and last minute coin flips everywhere. The only certainty is nobody gets the trophy without a stud qb. Keep drafting them until you hit a homer....
  9. Throw in a kicker and return specialist and it would be complete.
  10. Where is Pettine these days? If you want to run the Ryan hybrid defense but in an upgraded form with a great game caller, you get Pettine. He was so good on game day...
  11. Brady looked a lot less sharp than Ben this weekend. It was good to see. Imagine having a home playoff game against Osweiler with 2 weeks rest to get you in the AFC championship game. Total joke. I was so looking forward to Carr and the Raiders pass rush pummeling NE this January instead of the Steelers. A green bay, pitt sb would be cool just because of the real fan base for both squads. Here's hoping....
  12. At least he didn't pull a Maybin and juice in college after the season ended so he could add 25 pounds of muscle and rock the combine. Had to stay clean in the NFL but couldnt juice so he dropped all the weight and couldnt play at all without the 'roids. Harrison might be pushing it to stay in the league but at least he's not a con man.
  13. This has to be correct. There's no other explanation. We wont know officially until KC loses, which I hope they dont, but they would never hire a line coach without input from the OC. Nagy then?
  14. I assume you all saw the video of Kyle and his family at home. I got the impression that it was in Buffalo, but yet he always talks about the long drive "home" after the season to Louisiana or somewhere that he does every offseason. If his family is in Buffalo I think he plays for sure next year. What else can a rolling ball of butcher knives do for fun?
  15. I've said all along no team in their right mind would hire a guy as head coach that was a running backs coach 4 months ago and has yet to install and run his own offense for a full NFL season. In fact, he's not getting any offers for OC anywhere either until he shows a mastery of the passing game as well. The absolute best place for that guy is right back here in Buffalo for a few more years to prove he can at least be a good OC, assuming he even gets that opportunity and doesn't just go back to managing the running game for us. He's not going anywhere and I think we'd be smart to keep some continuity with the ALynn staying on board, maybe as a RB coach and assistant OC or something.
  16. On how many targets? Wait I looked it up. 274 to 458 So Sammy is 8.9 yards per target and beckham is 9 yards. Wow. Huge difference.
  17. The guy was a running backs coach 4 months ago and has yet to install and a run a pro offense for a single season. He's way too green for HC and personally I don't think he'll ever be one. If he was a white guy he gets zero interviews for HC elsewhere.
  18. He screwed up big time on that screen play grabbing the ball in front of the rb instead of looking to get downfield and block for him. Could have cost them the play of the game. Lets never draft a TE or RB in the 1st round. I liked that mike williams kid. Tough bastard too.
  19. Pass rusher school for sure, which he will finally get a chance to do this offseason. One thing we know about the pro game is the dedicated and disciplined ones survive and the guys that got by on talent in college but don't have the work ethic won't make it. Luckily he got to get some real game time in this season and has a lot of video to review. Wish we could have got Seymour some more time at Gilmore's spot too. I see Shaq topping out as a Chris Kelsay type player. Never a pro bowler but averaging 7 or 8 sacks a year and plays hard to the whistle, good against the run. You can go a long way with a motor, good coaching, the right attitude and youth.
  20. On one hand, I agree with the OP. I have a buddy who is a diehard Bengals fan and he went 5 straight years making the playoffs only to lose big every time in the first round. He said he'd much rather not make it in unless they have a legit shot. Look at Houston, a weak ass team who backed into the playoffs with no qb, about to go lose by 25 points and get embarassed next week. They only beat the Raiders because Carr was out and they know it. On the other hand, anything can happen in the playoffs with turnovers, weather, injuries to other teams, etc. Remember the Giants with a .500 record squeaking out a wildcard spot and then (with a lot of luck) won it all. So you always want to make it, but its not as fun at it seemed like it would be once you lose.
  21. From my observation, our defensive schemes werent the problem. Ajayi and Bell were running through 8 and even 9 man fronts with ease. That has zero to do with coaching and everything to do with poor tackling and gap control. Players were at fault, just like they were in both Jets games. Bring in any coach you want, we need better players or we'll still get shredded.
  22. No character. Average cover skills, weak tackler, afraid of big runners. Antoine Winfield throws up every time he watches Gilmore play. Jarius Byrd 2.0 See Ya. Bring on Seymour and use the Gimore money to sign a stud WR or safety
  23. Elway before Peyton Manning, less than .500, Elway after Manning, more of the same. He's nothing special as a gm. Dumervil screw up, waiting on Von til year 5, weak drafts, no running game.
  24. He's carrying the whole team. Its working great for them actually. The guy is still elite. Without him they're cleveland
