John Ross... the best potential talent in this draft
Webster Guy replied to Stud37's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If there is any good lesson to be gained from the T.J Graham and Goodwin experience, it's that burner receivers are impressive in college and in training camp, but spend way too much time off the field in the NFL. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but very few. Way too risky. There is zero chance Whaley would go for a little dude receiver with his job on the line here. Tyreek Hill is helping guys like Ross in the same way that Zeke Elliot is helping college running backs get higher draft pick consideration. They're exceptional game changers. -
Bills decline to match Gillislee offer sheet
Webster Guy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he was worth $2.76 million thats for sure. McDermott cannot be happy with Overdorf and Whaley for this gaffe. It worked with Groy, but we lost with TD Mike. The only way to mitigate this poor management move is to hit on the patriots 5th round pick, which is now ours. -
Are the Bills back to being the NFL's farm team?
Webster Guy replied to BuffBillsForLife's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They've lost as much talent to FA as anyone else. Average team with great QB. It's all you need. -
One NFL team called Browns to trade for #1 to draft a QB.
Webster Guy replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup. Possibly not QB of choice but certainly the top 1 or 2 QB's on their board. I honestly don't think there will be any trades in the first 12. -
Official schedule released
Webster Guy replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
my god there are so many negative people here. i've never been able to relate that kind of mindset, hopefully i never will. here's a fact: every year some teams emerge and win more games than expected, and some teams lose more. and every year there are key players that get hurt starting in week one that completely changes the landscape of the league. your chances of predicting who we will beat and who we won't are just as slim as you predicting who we will draft-- you have no clue, so why not be excited for your team and pull for them? -
Sullivan: One GM gone, one to go.
Webster Guy replied to JM2009's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Other than his miss on EJ, I think Whaley has done a pretty good job. Lot of excellent free agent pickups, we have a pretty good roster, especially if Lawson and Ragland emerge this year and we hit on some draft picks. Flame away if you must, but I see us as doing the best we possibly can without a franchise qb. If we can stop the run and have a solid kicking game this year, we can get 10 wins. I'm bummed about the TD Mike tender, but I think that was Overdorfs call. It worked with Groy. Maybe they'd rather trust Williams as the #2 back and get another 5th round pick. Gotta wait and see. -
Kevon Seymour's potential in McDermott scheme
Webster Guy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was a good interview on the Murph show last year at the end of camp. Very humble, focused and driven. One thing about him I remember from the interview is his reach. He's got long arms and said he could dunk a basketball in 8th grade. If he has a camp like last year he will be a solid #2. You know we're taking 2 more corners in this draft somewhere to compete for slot/nickel. -
I'd go one offensive stud and one defensive. Moulds and big Pat Williams would be my choice

Haason Reddick Equals Thomas Davis?
Webster Guy replied to Jamie Muellers Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
According to collinsworths mock, Adams will be there at 10 because Cleveland is trading up their 12th with Tennessee to grab a QB before the Jets do. If Adams is there, McDermott is a happy guy -
They owe Shanahan a trophy for his ridiculously arrogant play calling. Throw one to Pete Carroll too for handing the Pats a trophy. These coaches overthinking play calls and getting cute have given the Pats their past 2 championships when simple run plays in the end of the game was all Seattle and Atlanta needed. Dopes.

We seem to always destroy strength
Webster Guy replied to Niagara Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well for starters he's the best yard per carry running back in the NFL, and the best #2 guy for sure. Secondly, almost every starting RB gets hurt and Shady is no exception. He's not a kid anymore either. Jonathan Williams hasn't shown much yet. If he becomes our starting runner this season it's a big dropoff for us unless the kid really progresses this year. Go watch the 2nd Miami game and see how TD Mike kept us in that game and basically won it for us if we had a decent kicker. He was so fast and explosive out there, huge runs when we needed them. He's worth 2.75 million per year. Whaley won on Groy, lost on Mike G with these low tenders. Maybe it was Overdorf, either way our offense got worse. McDermott has to be pissed. -
Not a failure, but a poor strategist in this case. TD Mike was worth $2.76m to this team all day. Doug found him and signed him, maybe this one's on Overdorf. McDermott has to be pissed off, they just lost the best #2 back in the league trying to be cute. .

Pats sign Gillislee to offer sheet
Webster Guy replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure any player we have is winning us a Superbowl, that's not the way I look at it. The running game was a big part of our scoring system, and TD Mike was a significant part of that. The best #2 back in the league. Shady needs breathers and we never lost a beat with Mike. Watch the 2nd Miami game this year he was the reason we were even in it. Fastest man on the field by far. McDermott said he's a believer in running the ball, yet we just let a very good value guy walk for a million bucks per year. Do you think Jonathan Williams will be half the producer Mike was? -
No the game was lost because we could not set the edge against Willie Parker. The were just handing off repeatedly and we couldn't man up. It was Ajayi all over again.

Pats sign Gillislee to offer sheet
Webster Guy replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Paltry is right. For the NFL's leading rusher in ypc, they didn't think he was worth a 2nd rnd tender? Tried to save an extra mil now we have a much larger upfront cap hit or we get Jonathan "the jumper" Williams as our platoon guy. Lose/lose scenario. Foolish play by Whaley, he got burned. -
The State of the Bills - 2017 Version
Webster Guy replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe he was hurt, but Zach just didn't have a great second half of the season last year. Seemed to slow down from what I saw rewatching the games. It was enough for McDermott to be OK with us letting him walk. That's the reason I think we will be going LB and corner in round 1 and 2. -
Bills doing homework on 2017 QBs
Webster Guy replied to blacklabel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we want to trade down, maybe more than once even. Cleveland is the whale this year, and they don't offer us anything if they think we're drafting a LB or Dback for need. There are also a few teams that may want QB ahead of Cleveland at 12 so that helps us too. Evaluating qb's like we have for this draft isn't just a smokescreen, it's legitimate due diligence on the most important position in the game. Some of these dudes will be there in the second round as well. What excites me is there are a big handful of future pro bowlers on the defensive side in this draft and we have the opportunity to get a few of them next week. And of course the fact that nobody ever gets mock drafts even close to what actually happens. Tons of predictions but less than 20% historical accuracy in the first round and far less than that in later rounds. Remember we got slashed by Ajayi twice last year and Bell once, in record setting numbers. That wasn't just scheme, it was against an 8 man front when we knew it was coming. To me that means we need another defensive heavy draft. -
Todd Heap accidentally kills 3 year old daughter.
Webster Guy replied to Yo no se's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They need to keep going with these sensors all the way around and under cars. The self driving technology has really pushed this capability to where it's here now, and it works. This stuff has to end. One death is too many. I hope Todd uses his celebrity like JK did with Hunter and pushes for new legislation. Name the bill after his little daughter and turn this tragedy into something with meaning. -
Gunner's FINAL Mock 2017 - v.3.0 now posted (see page 4)!
Webster Guy replied to GunnerBill's topic in College Football
We lost most of our games last year on the defensive side of the ball. It's the first order of business. This draft is another Geno, EJ, Glennon QB crop. Look what Leveon and Ajayi did to us last year. We could have Brady at QB and still lose with that kind of defense. LB and SS picks 1 and 2 this year. Guaranteed. -
5.7 ypc average, best in the NFL last year. Go watch our home Miami game, fastest man on the field. He and Zeke Elliot are the only two guys that consistently get around the outside and up the sidelines. Maybe Jamaal Charles. That sets up the cutback nicely. Whaley's low tender was a ballsy move, he used it to set a benchmark for negotiations like he did with Groy. They'll work it out to $2m per year with incentives.

Is it okay to have a second team to root for?
Webster Guy replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's so much easier now with internet and Sunday ticket to follow a team. It's a great idea, I usually like to draft a handful of fantasy players from one team and watch all their games, maybe bet a little cash on em, learn the whole team. It helps ease the pain on the bad weeks for the Bills. I've gotta say though, when our offense is fully healthy and clicking we have a very exciting QB, running backs and an elite WR. We don't win em all but there are some serious athletes on our roster. Even some of the big uglies. -
Possible QB run could work in Bills favor.
Webster Guy replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
None are elite? If you know anything about player evaluation you know enough not to say things like that. You have no clue and neither does anyone until the bullets fly. -
Jarvis Landry guarantees a sweep of the Pats next year
Webster Guy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well said..... I will always remember that hit in my mind, his decision to headhunt like a coward instead of staying pad level like a decent human being. Either way he would have taken Aaron out of the play, but he chose the kind of cheap shot that puts guys in wheelchairs for the rest of their lives. Now that you've mentioned it, I think I'll root for the Pats against them too. -
When you say you hit the bills 1st 3 picks last year, did you envision the Ragland trade up? If so thats impressive.
