  1. http://www.shrinegame.com/game_01_11_05.php 1. He can long-snap and play both guard and center 2. NCAA | Preston Impressive - from www.KFFL.com Wed, 12 Jan 2005 09:51:16 -0800 Inside the League reports Illinois C Duke Preston impressed scouts with his footwork and ability to hold up at the point of attack at the East-West Shrine Game's East team practice Tuesday, Jan 11, at City College San Francisco. Versatile, smart, tough, blue collar....slow as molasses in winter...the perfect Buffalo lineman.
  2. Name: Tyrone Calico Position: Wide Receiver Grade: 69 | Key Alert: None Comment: Calico has an outstanding combination of size, strength and speed. Is powerful; drives defensive backs off the line. Shows good vertical speed and consistently gets over the top of cornerbacks. Has excellent leaping ability. Is a threat on fade routes and in the red zone. Is a strong runner after the catch and has some elusiveness. However, his hands are inconsistent. Route-running skills are below average. He needs more reps at the position and has a lot of work to do in terms of his technique and improving at the mental aspect of the game. He lacks suddenness on routes. Lacks upfield burst after the catch. Overall, Calico has the size, athleticism and speed to quickly develop into a playmaking starter in the NFL and could take over the No. 2 job by the end of the season.
  3. Prediction: TH to Tennessee for one of their 4th rounders and a conditional pick next year.
  4. If it is the #77 pick, I won't be disappointed, especially if there is a pick involved on the 2nd day. 55, 77, and 86 wouldn't be bad at all and would give TD flexibilty to move up if something becomes tempting.
  5. Easy street. If you predict snow from October 15 to May 15th, you stand a better than average chance of being right. Seriously though, fascinating stuff. The models you must work with have to be just ridiculous.
  6. In-house counsel for a medical/biotech company.
  7. What good does the #9 pick do in a very average draft, other than opening up a new hole, without adequate compensation to fill it and make the team better? I also don't understand the logic that says there is no way we retain him next year. We have a good amount of cap room and have the franchise tag available. I'd rather keep him this year and keep the #2 defense intact than take a huge risk in a weak draft.
  8. What a great idea...Sure, we'll trade a 26 year old Pro Bowl CB, who will likely be in the top-5 at his position next year for a top-10 pick in a very average draft.
  9. I'm not necessarily directing this at you, Joe, but the Mort reports are suspect in my book. His son, Alex, is a freshman QB at Arkansas (now a redshirt freshman). It seems Mort is a bit too close to the action on this one, as much as I love him.
  10. This isn't a posse; this is an internet-based day program for the challenged, with a leader whose intentions are not benevolent. Take care of that castration thing and proceed to docking with Marshall Applewhite and the others, boys. I'll catch the next comet...
  11. Good luck fron one Buckeye to another.. And if anyone is interested, do a search on the archway coconut macaroons and you'll see that Bob isn't talking out of his..welll..
  12. I would expect that if there is any ambiguity in the questions posed by Congress or the definition of "steroids", most players will take the 5th. While the court of public opinion will be brutal, a charge of perjury is much worse. I think this whole hearing is ridiculous, nothing more than political grandstanding.
  13. I also wouldn't mind seeing MW get some work at LT. While there are several adjustments that need to be made, including in the stance, I believe he is more than capable of filling this role. Also, there are several options for us, albeit they are all not as good as having JJ in the fold: 1. Sign Mike Wahle to play LT if he projects better than JJ. While the cost might be the same, he may be an upgrade if you believe some of the reports. 2. Draft a LT and sign Brad Hopkins for a year. 3. Draft a LT and sign Bob Whitfiled for a yer. 4. Move MW to LT and sign one of the many RTs on the market right now. 5. Move Trey Teague back to the LT and draft a center. I guess my point is that we have 4/5 of a nice line coming back this year and have the best OL coach in the game. We should be able to rebound from this loss. In TD I trust..
  14. Disagree. I'm betting that when he's paired with Dockett in AZ, which seems to be his likely destination, that he is back to the form of two years ago. He's not an All-Pro, but he very solid player IMHO.
  15. I love PW, but this guy will be 33 years old before the 1st half of the season is finished next year. While there are deviations, most defensive lineman are in serious decline at this age. I can't get my arms around $4m+ for this guy. In my opinio, this team is built to really contend in 2006. Will a 34 year old PW be a factor in 2006, warranting a $4m+ contract? I'm don't believe he will. The most I'd be willing to pay for him is a deal averaging $3-3.5m, with a bonus that doesn't string us up in later years. Here's hoping both Pat and TD see what is at stake and reach a workable deal.
  16. Warren would be great any other year IMO. However, without a first round pick and Cleveland likely seeking a first day pick, I'm wary of giving up too much for him. If they'd take a 2006 pick, I'd be more interested.
  17. While I'd hate to lost Pat and assuming Edwards/Anderson arent' ready, I'd love to give Hovan a solid look. Playing next to a space eater and having the opportunity to work with Krumrie would be great for him IMO. While he wouldn't be cheap, he also wouldn't cost $5m and is only 26. Any thoughts?
  18. I couldn't agree with you more. Huge loss... Anyone see his last column on shotgun golf?
