Mangini has been with Belichek for over ten years...ten years. He is Belichek's child prodigy. I'm all in on him. -

Potential good news in the draft for the Bills?
N.Y. Orangeman replied to N.Y. Orangeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I may be wrong, but I believe both he and Najeh Davenport are UFAs. -
"LAMBEAU LENDALE? A Packers source told The Post that the club is already enamored with USC running back LenDale White and that he would certainly not make it past Green Bay, which has the fifth pick in the upcoming draft. Following a 124-yard, three-TD title tilt performance, White has impressed league scouts enough that it appears almost certain that he'll be the second running back taken behind teammate Reggie Bush. " Caveat emptor...it is the NYP afterall

ESPN Mock draft - updated today
N.Y. Orangeman replied to VABills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The kid from BC is no slouch either. Williams had Lawson on the bookend his whole career, while Kiwi consistently faced double teams. I wouldn't be disapointed with either of them. The guy that broke my heart was Joe Thomas. This was our guy IMO. He would have been our LT for the next 10 years and was only scratching the surface. He looked better and better every game I saw him. -
ESPN Mock draft - updated today

I could very well be in the minority, but I think a mix of Anderson (who looks like he is emerging), Adams, Edwards and a 2nd or 3rd rounder (like Gabe Watson or Kyle Williams) as a nice mix. Pickett or Damione Lewis would be great. The other guy to look at, though his price went up dramatically, is Rocky Bernard. The other angle on this to watch (sorry if posted already) is what defense we run next year. Depending on the DC, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 3-4 put in place. -
I think the Packers are one of the model organizations in the NFL. Great stability, a decent talent base, etc. Also, I'm not certain Favre will base his career on a HC.

My take: 1. Kansas City – Carl Petersen, Great Fans and a contending team 2. Houston–Best facilities in the league and willing to spend money 3. Green Bay – 4. Buffalo– 5. St. Louis – 6. Minnesota – 7. Oakland – Who would really want this job? 8. Detroit – Millen is a huge knock against, but it has many pieces in place 9. New Orleans –Too many distractions in ownership and in the community

Which Asst. Coaches are headed out?
N.Y. Orangeman replied to N.Y. Orangeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. My take: Offense: Tom Clements, OC: Gone Sam Wyche, QB Coach: Promoted to OC Eric Studesville, RB Coach: Sticks Tyke Tolbert, WR Coach: 50-50, I'll say he sticks Jim McNally, OL Coach: Sticks Mike Miller, TE Coach: Sticks Defense: Jerry Gray, DC: Gone Tim Krumrie, DL Coach: Sticks Don Blackmon, LB Coach: Sticks Steve Szabo, DB Coach: Gone, though it is a close call. ST/Misc. Bobby April: Sticks Brad Roll: Gone -
I'm having a difficult time believing that MM would risk his job solely over a strength and conditioning coach? Which other coaches are at risk? Obviously, Clements has been dead man walking since October, who else should be ticketed out.

Poor kid..at least he has one more year to go.

I like him better than Ferguson, though I'd take either. If he is there at #8, he is tough to pass up.

OK....back to the positive
N.Y. Orangeman replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice post. The one guy no one is talking about as far as I've seen at least is the LT from Wisconsin, Joe Thomas. If he comes out, there is a good chance he'll make it to us at #8 (though I think Ferguson is overrated and he is actually the better player). -
FYI-Strength of schedule is calculated using the entire scheduled, regardless of the week a team is played, as opposed to opponents to date.

I don't see us getting a shot at Hutchinson or Bentley. For the guard spot, I'd love to take a look at Terrance Metcalf from the Bears, Stephen Neal from the Pats, and RFA Vincent Manuwai from Jacksonville. At the tackle spot, Backus is the only real FA who excites me and he will cost a bundle.

CNN "X" over Cheney during speech.
N.Y. Orangeman replied to OnTheRocks's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
News gathering activities are protected by the 1st Amendment. Unless there is a compelling state interest in blocking access, which I'd argue isn't the case here, this would go against case law on the issue. Also, in similar instances, retaliation against a news organization has also been held to be unlawful.' By the way, I miss the monkey avatar. -

Great idea. Let's impinge on the First Amendment over a glitch/sophmoric prank. Why stop there; maybe you should pull the FCC license or, better yet, have them jailed. -
House GOP Seeks Quick Vote on Iraq
N.Y. Orangeman replied to erynthered's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I agree completely about the troop levels. My position is and has been that we should now either put enough troops to finish the job or work on plan to leave immediately. If I'm not mistaken, responsible people have put this forward on both sides of the aisle. We all know how that was received: shrugs of indignation from DR, spin from the White House and cat calls questioning the patriotism of those who raised their voices. However, I disagree completely with you on the administration. It was the Vulcans/Chicken Hawks who decided to turn our military into the largest police force ever assembled. Why did this happen? Because, after having virtually the entire civilized world behind us in the wake of 9/11, GB and the Chicken Hawks squandered every bit of capital we'd built up over the last 50 years, leaving us with Great Britain, Micronesia and the almighty Mongolians (sp?) with the rest of the Coalition of the Willing to keep the peace, instead of NATO (my choice) or, at the very least, the UN. Even then, they had an opportunity to use the lower ranks of the Iraqi army as a base for a new army (albeiit under close supervision). Instead, we disbanded them and turned some of them into insurgents. For Christ Sakes, our military deserves nothing less than a well-thought out plan. This administration failed them miserably. -

Yeah, it is right up there with going to war without a plan on how to return power to the Iraqis or how to remove ourselves from the situation. I could go on, but we all know the punchline. Both are equally asinine, but right below this administration's failure to support the troops with proper equipment and proper deployment levels. We love our troops, tax cuts are a special kind of love. The fact is, the Republican party, with its failures in planning and support (not to mention what led up to it), has lost the right to wrap itself in a flag on this one and cite long-term national interest on this (and I am a Republican), seeing as this administration created the current situation. -
Exactly..
