  1. 27. Terrence Cody/DT/Alabama: Cody played well in spurts last season but, like Dunlap, his motivation toward the little things has been questioned. His physical conditioning during the Senior Bowl has been well documented. Cody is not expected to show up at the combine looking like Adonis, but he still needs to round into better shape over the next few weeks.

    More like Adrian Adonis.

    :P

a late, great wrestling reference......excellent. My older brother about killed me with a 'sleeper hold' a few times.

  2. Ted Washington wasn't exactly fit and trim either, but he worked out just fine. Maybe Stroud could use a little more gut....

Honestly....can you imagine big Ted and Pat Williams shirtless? Those guys were dominant.

Having said that, the photo was a bit disturbing. It's the rare athlete that can be well over 300lbs and truly be fit. See Shaq. Most are carrying a fair amount of extra baggage...errrr....Boobs.

It's absolutely the "bro" that he needs.

  3. You know, trying to be responsible here and see what we would need and what it would cost for a one month playoff extravaganza machine.

    Who knew?

You can throw me under that bus as well. I NEVER envisioned a scenario where Whitner would have been proven incorrect concerning his playoff predicition. Dare I say.... I actually thought briefly about the phrase "home field advantage." THe wheels on the bus have formally come off.

  4. Duke Preston hiking the ball, when JP was in the shotgun position, pretty much sums up this year.

As usual Dean...right on the money. I know center is a tough position but yikes. Is there that much padding back there that you can't determine if another man's hands are in the vicinity? I realize the possibilities for tasteless jokes are endless here but the question is a serious one. That play was a joke.

  5. This is the following scenario that is about to happen:

The University of Buffalo Bulls win the MAC title against an undefeated, #12 ranked team. The Buffalo Bills win out in the regular season and garner a WC spot in the playoffs. Down 35-3 against Denver in the 3rd quarter of a rematch we roll off 35 straight before winning in OT 41-38. We steamroll Pittsburgh. Against Tennessee, we're down five after giving up a TD with 13 seconds left. They kickoff to Roscoe Parrish who runs to the right side of the field, turns and throws the ball back to McKelvin on the other side. McKelvin follows the train of blockers to the endzone giving us a 1 point victory to make the SB. Buffalo is losing to the Giants 19-17 with 37 seconds left. We have the ball on our own 26 with 1 TO. Edwards hits Evans for a 31 yard gain on an out-and-up route. Evans steps out of bounds to stop the clock. 25 seconds remaining. From the "Shotgun" with 4 WR, Lynch gets the ball on a draw play and fights for 13 yards. The Bills call TO with 3 seconds left. Lindell steps onto the field. Here's the snap. The kick is up. It looks to be wide right. The ball draws back in and scrapes just inside of the uprights. BILLS WIN, BILLS WIN!!!! THE BUFFALO BILLS HAVE JUST WON THE SUPER BOWL!!! THE WHOLE CITY OF BUFFALO IS GOING TO DISNEY LAND!!! Christ's second coming takes place as Ralph hoists the Lombardi trophy. All's well that ends well

Sorry, I needed to revise it a little :)

    Nah..leave it alone.

  6. Conversely, every Bills kicker in history that needed a game-winning FG (when the team was desperate) seems to miss it.

Or they make it (see Christie vs. Titans the last time we were in the playoffs) and we still manage to lose (or get hosed depending on your interpretation of home run throw-forward).

  7. McKelvin...McKelvin....this guy is driving me bonkers. I haven't posted in a while but I had to chime in here. The 'great' returners (see #24) catch the ball and generally pick a straight path to try and get through the first wave of defenders. If they make it through, you (the fan) can't wait for the "cut" to occur and he's off to the races. This is especially true on kickoffs. Worst case scenario is you've gone north/south and picked up as much reasonable yardage as you can. McKelvin seems to be "tip-toeing" after he catches the ball waiting for something to open or as if he's running a sweep. It's pretty rare that a guy actually will turn the corner on a kickoff and not get cut off/tackled. You need to bust it upfield and hope you can pop through. He almost seems scared. I know the above "approach" is a generalization and certainly does not fit every return. Just my few pennies.

  8. we have to be worse off because we have lost several established players without clearcut established players to replace them.

As a curveball of sorts, however, you also have to factor in which positions are a premium. We have upgraded our offensive and defensive lines which to me is more important than anything. I firmly believe we can get a decent running back in the draft to go with AT. We don't need man coverage corners though he clearly is a talented guy. LFB is on the wrong side of his career. Spikes is a real question mark. I'd rather spend the cash on the line and have solid skill players as opposed to spending premium funds on wr and corners with no "beef" up front. Having said all that...I concur that it is impossible to "measure" at this point.

  9. For me this award goes to Stevestojan, only because of all the TBD personalities his name gets dropped the most among my brothers and dad (also posters on The Wall).

I would agree here simply because every time I see the word sh*t censored I can't help but fill in stevestojan in my head. Classic. As far as current quality I would put Dean and Sketch at the top of my list. Both sharp and usually on the money.

  10. You know, if you like the old genesis/pinl floyd school of music, you should check out some of the new bands out there.

thanks for the info. I'll check 'em out.

  11. Yeah like he would have done anything if he wasn't in a pass happy offence, with the best QB of all time. He had average hands, no speed and was undersized. Thanks but unless I am running that type of offence have a great RB, RB, good other receiver and the greatest Qb, I'll pass.

I'm guessing that's sarcasm. If not...he had great hands. do you ever recall him dropping a big ball? Their offense was predicated on utilizing the short passing game for ball control. It was imperative he had good hands. His speed was not great; but his separation and route running were impecable. Undersized? Not really. He had great qb's but he managed the same success with both. Steve and Joe probably benefitted more from Jerry than the other way around. Granted he was on talented teams and that will help anyone's stats but he was the biggest reason for their success. Just mho.

EDIT: sorry....just saw your comment on Rice a few posts up.

  12. Since we're back on the topic of cars...

People who buy a used PoS like a '95 Dodge Neon or a '99 Honda Civic, then pay more than the car is worth to paint it Neon green/orange, put a spoiler on the back (that doesn't match), install a sound system with 99% bass, add racing strips, tint the windows, and of course pimp out those spinner rims

I just read six pages of posts only to find you took the words out of my mouth. To add to the thought....I love when they pull up next to you on the highway with their 4cylinder engine and super loud exhaust thinking it will magically make their car fast.

I'd also add Paul Schaffer to the list. I understand he is talented musically. But that voice...."and get your subscription to Ro-o-ling Stone" still burns my ears years later. I anticipate much Canadian fury mentioning him but he just bugs me.

  13. Its like Genesis. "insivible touch" is terrible.

But earlier stuff the same is terrific, like "The Musical Box" or "Dance on a Volcano".

You hear that and can't believe its the same band.

Honestly. Most on this board (not necessarily in this thread) think Phil Collins' career began w/ No Jacket Required. For the record my wife and I danced to 'Follow you, Follow me' at out wedding. That was a little pop cheese s/p Peter Gabriel but at least it was Genesis. Lamb lies down is classic. I concur (despite risk of getting flamed) that styx and supertramp have some validity.

  14. It is like the high jump stick...Everytime you clear it, you go a notch up...However, if the stick falls at the top, it comes crashing all the way down......

Mike Tice went from HC to OL coach for the Jaguars.

Mike Sherman went from HC to OL coach for the Texans

Mike Mularkey went from HC to OC to TE coach for the Dolphins.

Jim Mora Jr went from HC to DB coach for t he Seahawks

Tom Donahoe went from President/GM to NOTHING......

    It happens...

I agree to a point. The difference is the other three you mentioned were canned and took an "available job" with another team. They were agruably upgrades at their new position. Mularky got demoted within. A much bigger smack in the mouth if you ask me.

  15. I told the CEO, when I was asked who was expendable, "Me. If you want your reports and all the things you ask for on a day-to-day basis, then you need all the people in my dept. except me."

Great save for your department and completely altruistic. That's leadership my friend. Good for you!
