  1. ...and the streets will be filled with the blood of the non-believers. I'm with you. I think a .500 season or even an outside shot at 9-7 is plausible. We need a healthy Bell who is at least as competent as last year. Maybe he makes strides. That would be a bonus. I think we will be better up the middle of the O with Wood anchoring the line. Our run D has to be better given the events of the draft etc. Those two factors alone make us 'better' on paper IMHO. Time will tell.....but there are some real reasons to feel better about the team. In the big picture of my mind, Playoffs are still a longshot but I am certain of one thing.....At 1pm each and every Sunday I will be convinced that a Bills victory is but a mere three hours away.
  2. Along that line....any mention of post Ralph 'plans?' Not that I expect him to offer more than he has in the past. Just curious if Eisen even broached the topic with him.
  3. Because I felt quite strongly that it was a serious photo that could stir some debate about a variety of relevent topics.....
  4. We could get a Modrak vs. Donahoe thing here....in the theme of Alien vs. Predator.
  5. "Listen Jim....a hernia is surgically correctable. I need you to take one for the team and tough it out in the second half."
  6. to borrow from 'benderbender's' signature line.......the Bills sure did "draft a Whitner" when they drafted Maybin.
  7. It's hard to remember ages in the NFL.....

  9. found this and although 'blogish' I think you remembered it correctly. see the fifth comment down the page..... http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2009/7/5/930389/history-of-the-bills-1984-1988
  10. No brain injury here. I also see a lot of similarities and Fitz' performance last year was Kelly-esque in terms of numbers. Anyone can look up the stats for themselves (and I understand it was only one year and I realize Jim Kelly had a decade of excellence etc). My point was simply that I 'recall' us having some attention as being a possible playoff team prior to the 88 season.....this year I think it is fair to say we are a true 'darkhorse.' Surprise is not, however, out of the question. Re: Bruce.......Now that you mention that I do have a vague recollection of the 'horse collar' tackle (called a facemask)....which, of course, was not illegal back then. I can't even be sure though. Burroughs personal foul penalty was certainly in that game and was, unfortunately, the nail in the coffin.
  11. Remember it well....though I think we had a bit more respect heading into the 88 season than you recall. After the Bennett deal in 10/87 we had collected a load of talent on both sides of the ball and had a shot at the playoffs in December that year. We lost our last two at the end and blew it..... but for the first time in a while we had a 'dog' in the race. With the addition of Thurman in the 88 draft (risks acknowledged) we had a an outstanding young team....and some national attention as I recall. Regardless your point is still valid. We can make a leap this year. Maybe not to 12-4..but we can 'surprise' people. Bills and Bengals. That is hard to believe. If I remember correctly, a fairly dumb penalty by Derrick Burroughs sealed our fate in that AFC Championship game.
  12. Wow....this combined with your avatar photo (and comment) just about made me soil myself.
  13. winner. especially the closing line.
  14. Marv picked you at eight. Game changer you said you'd be. Sad fools a twitter....
  15. I think you had it correct. He put himself in good position and certainly was not burned (which is typically when DB's stand out). However, considering his rookie status and this early in camp, he seems to be doing all the right things. He was a bit physical with receivers as well which is a welcome sight. Not sure if he'll start day one given our secondary being one of our 'strengths' (gasp). With McGee, Florence, Corner, McKelvin et al he has some 'capable' players in front. I hope you're right though.....if he's better its an upgrade...and it means we are doing good things in the draft.
  16. I was there as well. The long TD was over McKelvin. I remember as I couldn't figure out why CJ Spiller was covering Evans.....until I remembered the number switch.
  17. that line summed it up for me. At this point in the season, and with this team....you HAVE to hope he is 'great' again. If not....go home. I may be disappointed ultimately but, as they say, better to have loved and lost than to have simply pissed away the entire season moaning.
  18. That crazy Andy Dufresne....he crawled through 500 yards of &%$t smelling foulness.... GREAT movie.
  19. If being a model doesn't pan out.....he could always fall back on this line of work.
  20. that's the point.....I'd be shocked if Maybin offered any glimpses of play....let alone being a 'sleeper' with a good/great year.
  21. very, very funny. If he produces even a few positive plays it would be a pleasant surprise/gift. Any sort of significant impact would be completely shocking. IMHO, he'll be lucky to be on the team. If he is....I'll be rooting for him.
  22. or Eddie Murphy on the train in Trading Places...... think Cameroon. .........
  23. get a grip........ http://www.nateludens.com/2011/01/do-you-have-internet-muscles/
  24. reading this caused major simpsons flashback. Homer as King Kong. Marge as the 'blue haired lady.' .....the tribal people speak: "Mosi Tatupu....Mosi Tatupu." great episode.
