  1. 1988--I was working for a sporting goods store as a part time job while in high school. I was informed I would be working on Sunday which was very unusual. I informed my boss I would not be working as the Bills were playing the Bucs at 1pm and home field advantage for the Bills was potentially on the line. I was informed I would 'no longer have a job.'

Being a purely psychotic Bills fan, I said 'fair enough' and finished my shift and was 'done' with that job after nearly two years. The boss called the next day and said he would put a TV in the back room and I could 'check' it from time to time if I agreed to come to work. I did return but I probably cost the Bills the super bowl that year. They lost to the Vinnie and the Bucs...Cinci got home field advantage and the rest is history.

If only I had stuck it out for the team. :bag:

  2. I like the Russ Brandon chatter here because there was a 'change' in mentality (at least from the outside looking in). I'm going to have to go with Buddy though. He, and subsequently Whaley, have improved our roster by light years from when they took over. The results aren't there yet but it's fairly difficult to look at our players top to bottom and not recognize they have collected a lot of elite talent.

Having said that, I think Doug Whaley is a superstar for the next quarter of a century. That alone makes Nix a 'genius' in my eyes.

Oh...and that Pegula guy is pretty cool too.

  3. Bigger things to worry about. So no, not bothered at all

Principle? Listen, my principle is "don't sweat the small stuff." I understand you don't care how big this is because you want to, and enjoy being outraged

Outraged? Hardly. It's actually more depressing. People are lazy and shouldn't get/steal freebies from those that work. But...you apparently already know my emotions, motivations and level of enjoyment.

Since you 'asked'.....The frustration stems from the asinine nature of these claims...not the 'volume.' In addition, I was merely responding to your post (below) about how 'numbers' apparently don't matter in issues of ethics. Having said that...I'd wager a guess that all 'big' problems started as 'small' ones.

Wow, they found 218 cases of this happening. Wow! What a national tragedy!

But enough for the right wing circle jerk crowd to...well, have a circle jerk

  4. Whatever, he's very good at his job. e could be the next to go. You can only take dealing with SUNY on athletics for so long. Right or wrong, SUNY just doesn't care about athletics.

Hate to break it to you but AZ is NOT tax-friendly. I live in a tax-friendly state! (NH) My wife was looking at a position in Prescott. You are paying sales tax, state income tax, and double the property taxes we pay in NH, a state that has to have high property taxes because they don't have sales or income taxes.

According to this...AZ is the 6th most 'tax friendly' state.

So this doesn't bother you? If you'd like, you can send a portion of your work check to me every two weeks. There are 6 of us in my family so it's no big deal.

It's the principle here. I don't care if it's 218 or 200,000. If people are abusing this (read: stealing) than it should be corrected. Isn't this why we have 9 layers of supervision for all government jobs?

  6. Disability payments??? I 'might' understand temporary unemployment while they attend English classes (for those in the US. The PR stuff is laughable). I think teaching them the language with temporary funding would be a better alternative to putting them on disability. Even that is a stretch in my mind.

Wow. Think of the people here that don't "speak or write" English. They're disabled!

This is one of the funniest things I've read in a while.

  7. Mario if he finishes career here and maintains all pro level a few more years.

I like your original three in the thread. Kyle, Fred and Moorman. I love the Moorman pick for the reasons the OP outlined. Guy was an athletic freak...a really good punter and what other punter would have bounced off the turf after this?
