  1. What about Mike Miller? Does he stay around or go?
  2. I see Buffalo still does not have a QB coach. Does anyone know of any developments in that area?
  3. Not to mention the airbag -- it would have flattened the baby!
  4. Patience is definitely a factor. Lots of people wanted to run Lindy Ruff out of town (myself included, at times). Now, he's a candidate for coach-of-the-year. Perhaps more patience with Gregg Williams might have paid off -- no way to ever know this. Also, great goal-tending and overall defensive play is a big factor in Sabres' wins. That allows the offense to take more chances and can make average offensive talent more productive -- true in football, as well.
  5. Anyone remember #30 Wayne Patrick? Not to say that there was any greatness about him -- just having a flashback moment here.
  6. I think Raiders would do well to hire Dick LeBeau as their next HC.
  7. I remember that! I've always wondered why the coaches have never tried to utilize his speed on a fake punt at least a LITTLE more often. Obviously, it's not something you can do routinely because it won't fool anyone. However, seems like maybe they cuold pull that off once per season with his speed.
  8. Whatever happened to kids competing in Punt, Pass, & Kick?! That was a helluva lot more entertaining (to me anyhow) than the societal filth that passes for entertainment at halftime now.
  9. In defense of the officials, they have an extremely difficult job. The rule book must be 12 inches thick by now. I have no specific suggestions, but it seems like some type of rules simplification is in order.
  10. Despite Moon's lack of playoff success, the guy was an incredible QB. He deserves to be in the HOF. So does Thomas.
  11. No real reason, but I've never trusted Modrak. I actually would have more trust for him had he sought the open GM position more aggressively. Seems he just likes to operate behind the scenes. I'd actually like to see him gone now.
  12. I didn't use to think so, but not so sure any longer. A terrible call here & there -- maybe one such call in a big game -- makes it difficult to make such an accusation. However, the past few years where you'll see a series of terrible calls in a single game go against the same team makes me wonder. I trust Pete Rozelle more than I do Tagliabue to run an honest league.
  13. So, you're saying that being involved with the stabbing deaths of 2 people is maybe not a good thing? Guess it's okay in Cowher's book. After all, the victims weren't fellow NFL players or anything like that. I didn't see the interview, but if Cowher said this then he has his head up his a$$.
  14. Agreed. It was terrible.
  15. Yes, Seattle's decision making was extremely bizarre. However, McNabb's complete lack of urgency still stands out to me. Hassleback at least had a look of urgency, but he just made some stupid decisions late. McNabb, on the other hand, was playing like it was the 1st quarter or something.
  16. The worst call from an officiating standpoint was the illegal block on Hassleback. Of course, the most damaging was the push-off, but at least that one was a little closer to actually being a push off (though I would not have thrown a flag on that very slight push).
  17. Why not a lineman for MVP? Faneca? No skill players really stood out. Sure, each had a few nice plays here & there, but no skill position player turned in a MVP type of performance.
  18. Super Bowl XXV was a good example of this. Lots of people thought that Thurman Thomas deserved the MVP even while being on the losing team. No one really stood out on the Giants. Sure, Otis Anderson had a very solid game, but not spectacular. But they felt the award had to go to the winning team and so there you go.
  19. I think the whole MVP thing sucks. No one skill player really stood out, but they feel they have to give it to someone in a skill position. Why not give it to Alan Faneca or some other lineman?
  20. Why does everyone assume we won't be able to compete if there is no salary cap? As I recall, there was no salary cap until '93/'94. Seems Buffalo put together quite a formidable team without a salary cap. I'm sure they can do it again.
  21. Anytime I watch that miserable Super Bowl tape, I always see Andre Reed's DROPS -- especially the 3rd-down DRIVE KILLER late in the 2nd quarter that, if it had led to points, would have put the Giants in a hole. Andre was a great Bill, but he didn't bring it to THE GAME. The one drop in particular stands out to me almost as much as Wide Right.
  22. I don't know anything about this guy, but I sure do like that statistic for this past season's Bears' secondary.
  23. The guy is unflappable. I've never seen him run his mouth even once!
  24. Not sure I understand this. As I recall, when Polian was around he was quite active on draft day -- trading up or down as needed. After Polian left, the Bills always seemed to stand pat with their draft position.
