Do you really want to see this franchise become successful?
ChasBB replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, it's all about what we DO with our draft picks. Good players can be had in ANY round of the draft. Our Super Bowl years are largely attributable to outstanding scouting and outstanding drafting -- getting good players and lots of them. We need to do that again. We don't need to have a top-ten pick every single year to be successful (though I do think it helps to have that every now & again to land a real difference maker -- e.g. a Cornelius Bennett or a Bruce Smith), but it's what a team does AFTER they make their high-profile 1st-round pick that will greatly determine the success of the franchise because you've got to have a strong supporting cast all around or success just won't happen. -
A proposal for league realignment
ChasBB replied to keepthefaith's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was saying something like this all along back during the last re-alignment, but Ralph stupidly wanted to hang onto the dead Miami rivalry. The new rivalries would have been so much better -- AND fans could reasonably drive to away games. My only change to the above (at least for the Bills' division) would be to take Detroit out and replace with Pittsburgh. -
Marshawn Lynch press conference at 4pm
ChasBB replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear what you're saying, but I think it's too early to pin the "serial" label on him. He wasn't seeking out trouble, but rather he made poor decisions and put himself in compromising situations. He made poor judgments for sure and I'm not suggesting that his past behavior is defensible, but I also don't think the guy is going to be the next Pacman, either. -
Marshawn Lynch press conference at 4pm

Yes, his sincerity struck me, too. I think the most telling remark was how Goodell's words were still reverberating in his head -- I think this has shaken him up some. -
Marshawn Lynch press conference at 4pm
ChasBB replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think that's what he said or meant. He said he had a target on his back because of his previous two incidents and that people will be watching him extra closely now. He did say that players, generally, are under a microscope because of their high profiles, but the target remark I think was more about him, personally -- that he knows he has to make better judgments in the future. I thought he handled himself very well. As Lori says, he finally GETS IT now -- this is serious stuff. -

It's up on Buffalobills.com now: http://www.buffalobills.com/media-lounge/v...1e-14e000beaf1f He comes across as very humble and changed. Time will tell, of course, but I like what he's saying and it's how he should have handled the matter last year. Go Marshawn!! -
Why is Chris Mortensen such a douche?
ChasBB replied to Major Mud's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, if you were him and you visited this board, how would you feel after reading that 99% of the posts about you refer to you as a douche? It's little wonder. Bottom line is who cares? He can't get over that his buddy Tom Donahoe was run out of town, so screw him -- his opinion is meaningless as it is a biased opinion. Guys with biased opinions in the media are worthless. -
I Googled this -- honestly! It wasn't in my bookmarks. I can hear a collective "yeah, right".

[closed]Former player confirms Bills interest in Cutler....
ChasBB replied to IRIGHTI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just won't believe it unless it really happens. Edwards is the guy. -

Cutler formally asks to be traded
ChasBB replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
GREAT POST!!! The facts ought to shut people up, but some people like to ignore facts. I like Edwards. I like his development. He'll continue to improve. -
ummm, the Pats just have to show up to sweep the Bills. Jauron cannot defeat Bilichick -- end of story.

I don't want that puss-y either. What a big crybaby. We don't need that kind of leadership. I'll take Edwards. -
Kelsay ... Ed Block Courage Award ... What?
ChasBB replied to ChasBB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I, for one, appreciate The Dean's comments. I find them generally insightful and thoughtful. Even though you attacked me on this point -- maybe justifiably, maybe not -- not concerned about it, that's what the board is all about -- give and take. I'm cool with it. -
Kelsay ... Ed Block Courage Award ... What?
ChasBB replied to ChasBB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry all. No, I don't get great satisfaction out of ripping players/people. I just miss having a Bruce Smith type of DE. It's a serious need and Bills can forget about any kind of serious run in the playoffs until they address this need. Maybe I picked the wrong entry point (the Ed Block Award) to bash a player, but Kelsay really is a backup-caliber player and he's way overpaid given his contributions on the field. As for Jim Rome, don't know -- never even listened to the guy before. I'm not a sports addict. I'm not even much of a football fan -- if the Bills are not on TV, I'm not overly interested in watching. I'm just a Buffalo Bills fan and I want them to win a Super Bowl. -
I still don't understand how guys like Schoebel & Kelsay can haul in these enormous contracts -- it just defies logic. They've never been more than adequate and neither is a "complete" player (being both a good pass rusher and a good run stopper).

TBN: Bills / Peters ~$3 M apart - Peters wants over $11.5 M
ChasBB replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whatever the Bills do, I just hope they do it before the season starts. That's what the offseason is for -- to get these deals done. Once the season starts, it becomes a distraction. Once the season is underway, you want the players thinking only about football and not about contracts. I just think it produces better team chemistry and team focus to not be dealing with contracts in week 5 of the season. Look at Evans -- gets his HUGE contract in week 5 and what happens to the Bills? OK, OK, I'm not necessarily saying there is a cause-and-effect here in regards to the Bills sudden downturn last season, but I'm just saying if we're going to keep Peters then get it done before the season starts. -
Kelsay ... Ed Block Courage Award ... What?
ChasBB replied to ChasBB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No disrespect, but we need great PLAYERS. I'm sure Kelsay is a fine person and all of that, but I really want the Bills to win a Super Bowl and the DE position is critical to that happening and we're not in good shape at this position -- not at all. And if Travis Henry won this award (thanks Steve_JOHNSONS_hair for finding that!), what the hell does it really mean? Guys got to produce ON THE FIELD -- that's all I'm saying. Tired of these feel-good BS awards. First job is to be productive on the field, second job is to be an upstanding citizen, blah, blah. Oh, and guys who don't earn what they make cannot be emotional leaders. Oh, they can try, but the best leadership is by example on the field. It's difficult for the guys playing next to him to not compare their relative contributions to the defense and their relative pay to his. Course, this is going to happen no matter what, but guys that earn big bucks like that MUST produce (Dockery, case in point -- he's gone now). Yeah, he's adequate (at times) against the run perhaps, but we've GOT to have guys that get to the opposing QB consistently. -

ChasBB replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, I call holding out until after the season is underway a distraction. TO is leader and a hard-working player. And if the Bills sign Peters to a long-term deal you can COUNT on him holding out again well before it's over. We only have TO for one year anyhow and he's 35 years old. The guy wants to win a Super Bowl -- he'll be there to perform this year. -
TBN: Bills / Peters ~$3 M apart - Peters wants over $11.5 M
ChasBB replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Evans was way overpaid, too. As for Peters, anyone that would hold out with 3 years on his contract is a bad risk. He'll just keep doing it over-and-over again. Trade him while he still has some worth and do something intelligent with the draft picks. I hate to see him go in a way because it's not like we have another guy who can easily step in and perform as well, but he's just too great of a risk and a distraction. -

ChasBB replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's just asking for $1.27 million dollars for each point on his Wonderlic test results. -
What a politician this guy Kelsay must be to be getting awards like this. What the hell *is* the Ed Block Courage Award, anyhow? Well, the article (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/kelsay-receives-ed-block-courage-award/8d1d0474-843f-4be0-ba51-d386f3856d8d) says this: "The Ed Block Courage Award is presented to the Bills player who exemplifies a commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. The recipient symbolizes professionalism, great strength, dedication and serves as a community role model for others." We have NO legit DE's on this team, folks -- NONE. I'm so tired of guys like this winning these types of awards. If you want to give the guy a community service award, then fine -- give him a community service award, but cut the crap about "great strength", "courage", etc. I guess he does have courage to step on the field and know he's going to get steamrolled every Sunday by bigger and better offensive linemen.
-
No Super Bowl until we vastly improve at DE. It's a key component of a championship team and one we don't have (yet).
-
screw the "high-character" thing -- that hasn't worked out so well, has it?
-
At first, I didn't like the idea (plus I didn't think he'd come here anyhow), but this team needs players with a little passion -- someone who can light a fire under his teammates -- someone who will be a leader and demand accountability.
