What I don't get is how he really plans to save money. Any revenue from the hockey team will remain taxable in NYS. Any income from his business will remain taxable -- unless he brings his business with him. So long as his income is derived from NYS, he'll have to pay NYS taxes on it no matter where he lives.

Yes, I was also going to re-phrase my earlier argument about the gov't being inefficient because any military example is a bad one. The military is one function that MUST be funded by our government.

The main reason the Bills will leave the Buffalo area....
ChasBB replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bottom line is football is a product. Ralph puts a quality product on the field, people will pay for that product. People will pay top dollar to watch a winning football team. -
Hey, why not. Good guys finish last, right?! So, now that our team roster reads like a police blotter, may as well just give into it and embrace it as you say.

Any organization that has an endless well of money printed up fresh by the Federal Reserve and subsidized by taxpayers ought to be able to offer services more cheaply than a private organization, which does not have limitless resources in the form of taxpayers to subsidize its projects. Also, it's not the cost to the end consumer of said service that is necessarily the issue, but rather the cost to deliver this service. I'm going to make a generalization here, but if you ask the government to produce a service and then ask the private sector to produce the same service, the private sector will deliver the same service at lesser cost than the government will. That said, the government, because of its special powers, can still deliver the more costly service to the end user at a reduced rate because they can -- because apparently the gov't. doesn't give a hoot about balancing its checkbook while the rest of us must do so.

What, a guy makes some intelligent financial decisions in his life, builds a successful payroll business from nothing, and is generally respected in the community should be penalized? The truth is that income tax is unconstitutional. Fortunately, a few states recognize this and don't permit it, but only a small handful -- not nearly enough. I'd also like to see the Fed. income tax replaced with a national sales tax. Personal income tax penalizes effort. I'm all for corporate income tax, but 100% against personal income tax.

Fred Jackson, the modern day mature athlete....
ChasBB replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Mr. Weo's comment was a shot at the Bills leadership among the players -- there is none. -
For continuity sake (and because I think he would be very good), Bobby April. If I *must* select from the 4 choices only, then I would rank them 1. Cowher, 2. Shanahan, 3. Holmgren, 4. Gruden

I have to agree with you. I think the glass is a little more than half full. This team has some talent, for sure. Could they use some upgrades at a few positions? Of course, but they really don't have any GLARING weaknesses. Sure, there are some big question marks as to how some newly-acquired talent will perform, but they are more experienced on the whole. Yes, there will be some rookies starting and they WILL make rookie mistakes, but this team has the talent to overcome that. If they remain reasonably healthy this season and go at least .500 against division opponents, there's no good reason we won't be watching this team play football in January. I think the real question is can the coaches utilize the talent appropriately and out-gameplan the opposing coaches. That's my biggest concern. Imagine what a guy like Lou Saban could have done with this team!

Bills and Freddie Jackson agree on an extension
ChasBB replied to jrfife22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Way to go FO!! I have new respect for you Russ for getting this done!! Not only was this the right thing to do, it was also the SMART thing to do. This team is heading for the playoffs and the FO has made some great moves in recent months to better this team and keeping Jackson under contract and happy is one of the best moves you've made. Way to go!! -
who did us worse, TDonohue or Marv 2nd incarnation?
ChasBB replied to zazie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see Lindell as a positive in the Donahoe score column. He's got a weak leg relative to other kickers in the league. He's not a guy you want out there to nail a critical 55-yard field goal. True, not many kickers can consistently be depended upon to make a kick like that, but with Lindell, the option is not even on the table. Also, while generally consistent, he has missed at least a couple of huge (and very makable) kicks which have literally been season-busters. If Lindell is not on the roster opening day, I for one will be glad about that. -
If you having a bad day.... Here is something to enjoy!

Ted Marchibroda -- don't hear that name much, but he was the OC then. Brilliant coach. -
That was one pathetic effort. That kind of effort isn't going to win many games.

If the Bills Fire Jauron mid season?
ChasBB replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Has Ralph ever pulled the trigger in mid-season? I don't recall. Seems maybe he did once, tops (maybe it was Bullough), but if they get off to a weak start, then he needs to pull the trigger to try to salvage the season. -
Take a few minutes and watch this....
ChasBB replied to The Tomcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have to agree with you. The blocking really stands out when watching that video. Great run-blocking, great pass-blocking. It makes all the difference in the world. Not to diminish the talents of Kelly and Thurman, but they absolutely did benefit from some great blocking. -
Take a few minutes and watch this....
ChasBB replied to The Tomcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. A few things stand out for me: 1. Was that blocking I saw? When you see real blocking like that, you realize what we have not had in recent years. 2. Davis was a real spark plug for the team even though Thurman was the go-to guy in run game. Fred Jackson is the new Ken Davis. We've got to keep Jackson even if Lynch is our #1 guy. Jackson is vital to team's success. Let's lock him up for 3-4 years and make him happy and make the offense successful. 3. What a confident team! They EXPECTED to win. I don't know about anyone else, but I feel better about our OL than I have in YEARS (even with the loss of Peters). One thing that 1990 team had was INTELLIGENT linemen who knew their assignments. I think the Bills will have that again this season finally. This is a playoff team. But they MUST get nasty with the division opponents. They have to at LEAST go .500 in the division, and preferably, even better. That's the key right there. -
yes, I like that even better.

"I’ve done a bit of smuggling, I’ve run my share of grass I made enough money to buy Miami, but I pissed it away so fast Never meant to last, never meant to last" Guess he's not pissing his money away any longer -- he *is* buying Miami.

So, if both Bells happen to somehow earning starting positions, do we name the offensive line the "Bell Ringers"? Sorry, had to say it.

Bills Think Nelson Can Become A Great Blocker
ChasBB replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, no matter how hard we get punched in the gut by this team, every year brings new hope! We are gluttons for punishment. But maybe, just maybe, this will be the year of the return to significance -- a playoff team. -
I hear ya! The guy was getting tossed around like a frickin' rag doll the entire game and just kept getting up. The guy was indestructible that day.

Team: 1972 Dolphins -- Mercury Morris fumbled, but ruled down -- cost Bills the game and handed the Dolphins their perfect season. Also, Shula was on the Rules Committee at the time -- refs always seemed to come down on his side. That said, the '72 Dolphins really were a fantastic team, so I give them credit, but perfect? I think they got some help there. Coach: Hank Bullough Player: Larry Czonka -- only because I wish he played for the Bills instead.

Anyone else concerned about the DT position?
ChasBB replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Bills are OK at DT. Sure, we could be a little better and/or have more depth, but the DE position absolutely needed to be addressed even more.
