2 players that concern you the most & why.....
ChasBB replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+ 1 What the hell has Reed ever done to deserve this post? The guy has really become a stable force. I've not heard any complaints from him whatsoever. Total team player. -
We spike their Gatorade with laxatives ... maybe we have a chance.

Another Bills preview Real GM, Jeff Risdon
ChasBB replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One thing that always gets overlooked from year-to-year is the development of existing players. Too much focus is spent on incoming players and outgoing players, but Buffalo was a relatively young team last year -- the 6th youngest in the league. Each returning player now has another valuable year of NFL experience and that can only be a good thing. -
I was at the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium today!

Computer forensic folks are tracking down your IP address and identity right this moment and will be charging you with vandalism shortly. But, good job! I hope it was the gooey kind that ripped the finish off the door when removed. -
The '09 Bills will be the FIRST team...
ChasBB replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've got mixed feelings about this. I agree -- great to see the team getting to an early start and so on. I just hate to see pre-season injuries and starting the work early statistically increases the odds of additional injuries. Not that that will necessarily happen, but it does increase the odds. But, injuries are part of the game and the silver lining to any injury is that the team develops depth, but it really sucks when a bright prospect goes down for the entire season in some stupid play in practice. I guess that's just part of the game, though. -
What if Maybin just goes banana's & sacks everything that move
ChasBB replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he'll have a rookie type of season -- he'll make some great eye-opening plays, but he'll make some rookie mistakes and probably get caught thinking too much at times and not reacting. On obvious passing plays I think he'll shine, but in other situations, he'll need to learn and develop. -
I've been ridiculed for this reason, but I stand by it as at least a contributing factor -- doing deals during the season. It was right around the time that Evans got his HUGE deal that things tanked. This is *not* a commentary on whether or not he deserved it or not. It's about team FOCUS. Suddenly, players start looking at THEIR paychecks and thinking to themselves how hard THEY work week-in and week-out instead of focusing on their next opponent. The FO got it right this year doing the Fred Jackson deal in the offseason. The offseason is the time to do contracts. The season is the time to play football. It's not complicated. When you go messing around with contracts in mid-season, the team tends to lose focus. Plus, I think Jason Peters wasn't giving it his all. Here you have a guy who sits out and still starts. What message is that to the other players who worked their asses off all summer long? Plus, chicken-sh-- coaching. Plus, Edwards nearly getting killed in Arizona. All of the above.

Well, I can tell you what is NOT an option -- 3 pts. -- not unless they can get down to the 28-yard line for a 45-yard kick to get within Lindell's range. You have to add 17 yards to the line of scrimmage to determine the length of the kick. It's kind of sad that kicking is not even an option unless we get to the 28-yard line. Imagine if we only needed to get to the 35-yard line and we had a kicker capable of routinely hitting 52-yard field goals?! What a difference that would make. The Bills cannot continue to dismiss the importance of the kicking game.

Who is your favorite BILLS backup QB of all time?
ChasBB replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What about Hamden? I like this guy. He's got good height, strong arm, accurate, team-first type of guy, totally supports Edwards much as Reich supported Kelly and only wants to see the team win games whether he is playing or not. True, we need to see more of what he can really do on the field when it counts, but all indications are that the guy can play. -
I live in the Gainesville area and I was initially annoyed at the complete lovefest for Tebow. Even when the Gators won the National Championship in 2006 under Chris Leak, a large number of fans were clamoring to have Tebow start even though Leak was having a very solid year. However, Tebow has really impressed me. He's not let all the attention go to his head. The guy is totally grounded. He definitely has leadership qualities and pushes the people around him to succeed. That said, I just question if he can compete in the NFL. I'm not saying he can't, but I'm just saying it's not a slam dunk by a long shot. I think he would be more of a project and not a guy who will step in his rookie season to lead a team.

I like this scenario better -- Jauron thanks TO for helping to get the team over the hump as they stand together holding the Lombardi Trophy.

deferred ball receipt on kick-off
ChasBB replied to oregonbbfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you're playing to win instead of playing "not to lose", then you don't defer. You take the ball and try to take it to the opponent early and get a jump. -
Cop that busted Bruce for DUI, gets busted for DUI
ChasBB replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. -
Your title could have and should have been more descriptive. Given Ferguson's health issues, a post like this is sort of alarming with a simple title like that. I suggest you alter your subject title. That said, yes, why not? If he were in his prime today, I think he could compete in today's game.

Cop that busted Bruce for DUI, gets busted for DUI
ChasBB replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, VOR, Classic case of "Do as I say, not as I do". It's somewhat miraculous the cop even got busted as they tend to protect their own. Maybe Bruce was really hit with a DWB, instead. -
Why TO was really cut by the Cowboys

So, Romo is a wuss who can't lead unless everything is just so. That's what I take from this. -
Playing NE 1st game gives us best shot of beating them
ChasBB replied to BillZerk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How many games have we lost in a row to NE? I'll take ANY victory over this team -- Brady or no Brady. -
Playing NE 1st game gives us best shot of beating them
ChasBB replied to BillZerk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I say we defeat NE once this year and it will come later in the season at Buffalo. The talent is present on this Bills squad, but they will need some wins to develop enough swagger and confidence to defeat a team like NE and that won't be there week #1 IMO. I hope I'm wrong, but unless Maybin sends Brady off with a concussion (please, please, please let that happen), then I see a NE win week #1. -
Flutie should have been allowed to see at least that one season through to completion. He earned that much.

Lots of weather references. My problem with the weather in Buffalo is that it is not harsh enough. By that, I mean it's not really cold enough to be guaranteed a good ski season, a white Christmas, or outdoor ice skating. Hamburg used to freeze a field for skating every year, but the cold is not sustained long enough for it to remain, so you get maybe two weeks of skating/ice hockey in (if you're lucky) and then the ice melts. And then, to top it off, the weather just stays crappy until about mid-May. You get that tease in late March or early April with some nice warm weather and you think winter is over, then BAM -- 12 inches of snow on April 30th or something like that. It's like the worst of all worlds weather-wise -- not really cold enough to be a reliable outdoor winter wonderland and yet, at the same time, the winter just goes on and on and on and on.

I guess this means the Bills are #11: http://espn.go.com/page2/s/list/readers/bestNFLoffense.html

Marchibroda=most underrated coach in Bills history. He was the genius behind the Super Bowl runs. Marv was more of a figurehead -- did his job well -- kept the team focused, etc., but Marchibroda was the reason for the offensive success. I hated to see him leave, but I think he was tired of existing in Marv's shadow and not getting the full credit deserved.

Kicker Dan Urrego - Anyone know how he has performed in OTA's?
ChasBB replied to ChasBB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True! Either that or no one really gives a hoot about it. I can understand that. I'd be watching the offense and the defense, too, if I were present instead of watching the kickers. I just don't share the opinion that we are all set at the Kicker position. If we need a 55-yarder to win a key game against the Patriots and we don't have a guy who even has a chance, then I think the position needs to be upgraded. I'm not saying the guy is a bum. He's been very consistent over the years, but he has missed some very, very clutch kicks over the past 3 seasons and he cannot be relied upon for the long kick, so I'm just saying I think some serious competition needs to be brought in and not just annual "camp fodder". Whatever -- I know -- the topic is a big YAWN. -
Tim, you've attended some practices -- what can you tell us about Dan Urrego -- the kicker brought in to compete with Lindell? Does he have a stronger leg than Lindell? Does he have a legitimate chance to win a spot or is he merely camp fodder as some have suggested? Thanks.
