I have also been a fan for 40 years now, but I find myself more-and-more detached from this team. I honestly hope they don't win another game this season to absolutely ensure that the entire organization gets blown up. Winners get the boot (Polian, Saban). Losers get their contracts extended. It really comes down to Ralph. I truly believe Ralph WANTS to field a winning team, but that he is just incapable of it.

Atleast in previous season we could lie to ourselves
ChasBB replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is true. I don't know who on the current staff could step up and really do a good job. And if we go outside of the organization, then this season is also pretty much lost. Having said that, Jauron still needs to be gone by tomorrow morning. If it is already a given that the season is shot, I'd much rather see how an interim coach fares or even a permanent hire from outside rather than watch Jauron ride out this season. -
"You guys are asking me football-related questions,"

I know the game is about winning, team, etc., but how in the world could Edwards not even KNOW about TO's 185-game streak with at least 1 catch? Did it not come up ONCE in a conversation or an interview at ANY point between TO's signing and last week's game? I just find that incredible. And I'm not saying TO's records SHOULD be Trent's focus because it shouldn't be, but I just find it amazing that he wasn't even aware of the streak. Maybe Trent NEEDS to become a bit more of a football fan. -
Agree. Buffalo may not win another game until a change is made at HC.

It's for 6 points -- of course they have to challenge. Now, DICK might not challenge, but any other coach in the league is intelligent enough to challenge the call. -

I have to say that I hope TO absolutely RIPS whoever needs to be ripped. Go for it TO -- the truth hurts, but SOMEONE has got to say it - may as well be you. -

Hey, where are all the idiots crying about our ESPN power ranking a couple of weeks ago?!! LOL They don't get it that WINNING GAMES actually plays a role in the rankings. -

Oh, come on now - the defense is not getting it done today. Other teams have injuries, too. That is a cop out. Your points are understood, but cannot be an excuse. -

Dear Ralph: It is time to replace the head coach. This team cannot win under Jauron's leadership. The HC must be replaced immediately. Will it save the season? Who can know, but we do know that the status quo isn't going to get it done. Be bold and do what needs to be done. There's still enough talent on this team to be a playoff contender if a fire is lit under them. As is stands now, losing has become an acceptable outcome because the team's HC permits this attitude. Losing time and time again is UNACCEPTABLE. -

ok, good point, but one difference is that Miami is young and improving. I think the Titans may have peaked last season and are on a bit of a decline. -

Last year's division champs to go 0-4? Not going to happen. -
if we lose to miami does jauron get fired?
ChasBB replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree that Buffalo will not beat Miami, but I do believe we'll beat them at home later this season. Miami won the division last year and really turned things around. No way they go 0-4. Buffalo, on the other hand, is feeling shell-shocked and has lost confidence in themselves. The return of the Bickering Bills is about to start. I'm not giving up on this season completely, but Buffalo will not win Sunday. The supposed leaders (e.g. Edwards) need to lead and WIN. Until they do that against a division opponent, the Bills cannot be taken seriously. Also, if the Bills lose Sunday, I wouldn't give Jauron any more than a week. I think it may be time to pull the trigger. -
OK, theoretically, the silver lining to injuries is that you get a chance to develop your depth. Yet, here are the Buffalo Bills -- 3 straight years of ridiculous number of injuries -- where's that depth that has been developed over the past couple of years?
-
Oh, that would be situational thinking -- can't have any of that around here ya know.

39 Games and counting since Buffalo threw for 300 yards....
ChasBB replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jim Kelly had 26 300-yard passing games during the regular season and 3 more in the playoffs. Trent Edwards has not had a single 300-yard passing game. That is pretty telling. I've always liked Edwards, too, and have strongly supported him in the past. I also understand that Edwards is just not the same type of QB that Kelly was and is not just going to sling it out there as much, but nevertheless, this is a pretty sad statistic for Edwards. It's the type of statistic that could easily be overlooked if the Bills were routinely winning football games, but they are not nor have they been for a very long time. With all of the weapons on this team, there is just no excuse for this. Edwards is just not getting the job done. -
Hold on here...time for a Saints reality check.
ChasBB replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you beat me to it, but my post wasn't going to be nearly so lengthy. Fact is the Saints have been gifted many turnovers to rack up the points. I'm sure they are good and deserve attention, but let's not make them out to be world champs just yet because they are not. The Bills should win this game. -
They can put Buffalo at 32 if they want. I don't really care. I like this team. The bottom line is that UNTIL this team beats a few DIVISION opponents, they won't get much respect. Moral victories don't count in this business -- it's about WINS and until Buffalo can prove that it can beat the Patriots, the Jets, or even the Dolphins, respect will not be forthcoming. 0-6 in the division last year says it all. This is a new year and I do not believe that will be repeated, but until Buffalo walks off the field with a win against a division opponent, it's status quo.

A Bills Fan Visits a Psychotherapist
ChasBB replied to BillsNYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem is simply that we are bonded with this team. The bond is so #%$@ tight that when they fail, it literally causes us pain. Pathetic? Yes, but understandable. I think it was probably 1967 and I was 6 years old when my Dad brought me to my first Bills game at War Memorial Stadium. I remember him holding my hand as we walked though the tunnel to the seats and suddenly a whole new world opened up -- it was sunny and the grass was such bright green (must have been an early season game), sharp lines on the field, bright goal posts, colorful uniforms, the smell of cigar smoke, the smell of hot dogs, the crowd -- it was really an awesome experience for a 6-year old. And that's how it starts. It is almost like religion. We are baptized in the spirit of the Buffalo Bills and the bond lives on forever. My Dad died when I was 8 and I don't have a whole lot of childhood memories of him, but this was one of them. Is it foolish to be a die-hard fan of the Buffalo Bills when there are so many more important and useful endeavors in life? Perhaps, but that doesn't make it any less real for us. Go Bills!
