What I don't get is since when is 6'2" good size for an NFL quarterback? With the size of today's linemen, I really think you need a QB who is at least 6'4". Yes, I'm well aware that there are many successful NFL quarterbacks who are not 6'4", but a couple of extra inches really helps.

Tim, what is your take on Hamden being unceremoniously dumped? I always thought that he showed potential during his few preseason opportunities of the past. He certainly has the ideal size and strength for a QB. What gives? Why have the Bills just given up on him?

What do you think of the outcome of the Peters trade?
ChasBB replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The guy does not want to play in Buffalo -- this is a stupid question -- it's irrelevant. -
LOL

Agree. A big name alone is not the answer. It might be the answer, but it is not a given. All successful proven coaches were at one point in their young careers unproven and unknown. Just because Bills FO blew it on last several non-big name coaches does NOT mean that the next non-big name coach to come along won't be the next Belichick. You just don't know. Nobody knows for sure. You have to conduct an extremely thorough search and talk to as many candidates as possible -- both big names and not-so-big names and then choose.

I want A big named coach.........
ChasBB replied to SUNTANBILLSFAN2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I totally agree. I don't know if Fewell can be the long-term answer or not, but at least he gets 7 games to audition. It sure as hell beats having Dick finish out the season -- how depressing. At least this initiates hope again. A big name coach may be what is needed, but if Fewell can produce at least 5 wins, then you have to give him some serious consideration to take over permanently as HC. -
Perfect. He'll fit right into the Buffalo system.

Negative connotations being given by media
ChasBB replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Winning cures all. Buffalo got loads of good press during the Super Bowl years. Everyone loves a winner and that's just how it is. -
I'd have no problem with JJ as HC.

um, 2 pick-sixes -- that's not on the defense.

Fewell making players practice in pads
ChasBB replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just amazing that not practicing in pads. Here's another thing I'm looking forward to when Buffalo wins the coin toss -- Fewell TAKING THE BALL FIRST. -
Time to see if Hamdan Has any skills?
ChasBB replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You beat me to it with that remark! Let's see what Hamden can do. If he can't help, then at least we'll know for sure. At this point, I'd bench anyone who is not expected to be around next year and develop the youth and give guys a chance who otherwise wouldn't have an opportunity to play. That's the only good that can come out of a season like this. -
Good year to draft a QB near the top anyway
ChasBB replied to fairfaxbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing against Tebow. I like the guy. However, Florida is successful largely because of their lights-out defense and because of their running game. Yes, Tebow can throw the ball, but he likes to run when he can. Also, I don't think he is particularly fast when he runs -- he kind of lumbers along -- which is fine at the college level, but isn't going to serve him well at the NFL level. He is serviceable as a passer, but I got to believe there are better arms out there than his in next year's draft. -

Excellent point! He just wants to stay under the radar and not be held accountable for decisions while at the same time playing a large role in the decision-making process. Basically, he wants to have his cake and eat it, too. If he can't step up then he needs to step out completely or be removed.

I'm 100% for natural grass. True, it is expensive to maintain, but it's also pretty damned expensive to pay half of your starting lineup to watch from the sidelines with their injuries. It's stuff like this that shows Ralph is short-sighted. Football is meant to be played on natural grass. It's not easy to maintain in a northern climate like Buffalo's and it's not cheap to maintain, but it is still the best thing going. It's the best investment in maintaining the health of your starting lineup.

This is the WORST and boring offense in Bill's history
ChasBB replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree -- even those dismal 2-14 teams of yesteryear made some big plays (albeit usually nullified by a bonehead penalty), but this team seems almost incapable of the big play. -
This season is NOT over yet, DJ is due for a long win streak
ChasBB replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is truly amazing that he EVER pulled off a 13-3 season. What kind of fluke was that? That one damned winning season is probably the reason he was brought in -- "if he had talent all along like he did that season, he'd have always been a winner" was probably the line of thinking at the time he was hired. Having seen how this guy coaches, he probably would have coached the '85 Bears to mediocrity. That lone 13-3 season was just some sort of fluke is all I can figure. -
T.O. a no go = Hardy starting?
ChasBB replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Evans & Johnson outside receivers, Reed slot receiver. That should be the starting lineup IMO. TO is leaving so why not develop a young receiver like Johnson -- let the guy play. At this point this season serves no other purpose other than to develop young talent. Sure, give Hardy some time, too, but I like Johnson better. -
He does not sound de-concussed: Quote: '"I think we had a good bye week," Edwards said after Wednesday's practice on the grass field outside the team's field house. "I think guys are healthy, and I think changes are being made. I feel the coaches are noticing those changes, I feel like the players are noticing the changes, and that is going to build a lot of confidence. That confidence can change the guys' attitude and allow the offense to break out."' "changes are being made" -- by who? The coaches? "... coaches are noticing those changes". Well, uh, if it was the coaches making the changes, then wouldn't one hope they would notice them, too? It's just more stupid talk -- it means nothing. These guys don't even know what they're saying half the time. Just toss out a few goofy sound bytes, but they are not even coherent.
-
Don't be too sure about that. If I had to listen to DJ day-in and day-out instead of just listening to his press conferences, I would probably suffer migraines, too.
-
So, you're saying if the our defense just keeps telling Trent he is great that Trent will become great? The guy is just speaking his mind -- could use a little more of that around One Bills Drive.

Bills fans' heads would explode...

Yes, nice job Andy -- you only lost by 4 points instead of 7 -- good work. -
MIKE VICK IN BUFFALO.....WHAT???? No, not right now
ChasBB replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He may be a scumbag, but fans want wins and if he can provide wins, he will be given a chance. -
