Does the Wang injury force a move?
ChasBB replied to BuffaloBlood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You may be correct, but I pulled this information directly from BuffaloBills.com roster. -
What if Ralph had chosen Miami?
ChasBB replied to grammer_police's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a different source, I saw Buffalo was once the 6th (not 8th) largest city in the entire nation in 1900. -
+1 -- great post by San Jose

Well, if you're going to have a goal line specialist, the main prerequisite is that you are AT the goal line! That sure hasn't happened much the past few seasons. Seriously, I think the key to goal line situations is to have MULTIPLE weapons so that the defense cannot key on one guy. I think the Bills may have more of that this year provided Lynch shows up and starts taking his career seriously. And even if he doesn't I think Nix/Gailey are going to find (and may have already) guys who can replace Lynch. Until the pads go on, we just won't know what they have back there other than Spiller & Jackson.

Does the Wang injury force a move?

No, I did not say it was a good thing. I just didn't realize HOW young we were across-the-board on the OL until I looked over the entire OL roster. -

Disagree. Even though they are not in pads, you've got guys flying around all over the place. Collisions still happen. There are going to be injuries and that's just a fact. Let's just hope that the injury numbers drop significantly from last year. -
Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear that Brown had a rough outing, and worse -- that he apparently let it get him down -- if your reads on his body english were accurate. It seems like accuracy is something he was generally known for in college, so surprising to hear he was so off. He probably just put to much pressure on himself to perform well in front of Bills fans for the first time. Here's hoping it was only a bad day.

Only time will tell, but definitely got to like what you see in this video. The guy definitely makes his presence felt. Oh, and yet another fine audio selection to accompany the video.

Points taken. DW does indeed seem like a great teammate. I don't think the fans should be trashing him. I think he is a decent player who will benefit from the coaching changes and be put in positions to better utilize his talents. Let's just say I hope he avoids making any guarantees. I just want to see him have a great year.

I'm not negative. I've been following this team for 40+ years now and I STILL have not given up hope of a Super Bowl championship. Just saying it has required a certain level of dedication to follow this team as they've had some very long stretches of lean years over the years. I'd say I'm anything but negative. -

LOL -- yep, that pretty much sums up the attitude you have to have when you follow this team. -

SWEET!!! I was so afraid the news was going to be ACL. While this is not good, it is a helluva lot better than it could have been. -
I have to agree. Had the Bills not been interested, there would have been no comments from OBD whatsoever. Ralph definitely sounded like someone who had just been stung. In any event, I'm glad it worked out the way it did. The downside for me (being in the Gainesville, FL area now) is that I could have routinely gotten Bills news from the Gator Gazette (errr, I mean the Gainesville Sun) had Tebow been taken by the Bills instead of the Broncos.

Agree. I think Chris Brown does a good job of walking the line. BuffaloBills.com is not supposed to be objective. Is any other corporation going to criticize their own products? Of course not. So I would not expect BuffaloBills.com to criticize their product, either. With Chris Brown, you just kind of have to read between the lines. It is possible to say things without really saying them and Chris Brown does a fine job of doing this IMO. Plus, Brown has a level of access not afforded to all media types, so it is worth it just for that. He does have some interesting information on a fairly routine basis. Not all the time -- sometimes he just regurgitates player's twitter remarks and so on, but oftentimes he really does have some good info.

Agree -- some people are giving Whitner a hard time over some pretty innocuous remarks. However, I think a lot of this stems back to Whitner's "guarantee" of a playoff appearance a couple of season's ago. Whitner's problem is he lacks credibility -- which is why he needs to stop talking and start performing. It would be a lot easier to listen to Whitner run his mouth if he actually delivered on his promises and actually did help lead this team to the playoffs.

Nix/Gailey killed Lynch to the 'hawks for a 3rd
ChasBB replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a ridiculous post. He's had two 1000+ yard seasons and voted to Pro Bowl once. The guy has some issues, but he can still play football. A 2nd rounder might have been nice, but you have to draw the line SOMEWHERE and that is where Nix and Gailey drew the line. I have no problem with that. If you can't see all the positive changes that Nix and Gailey have brought to the organizational culture -- the quality picks, the work ethic, the professionalism, the leadership -- then you are not paying attention. Just keep on throwing mud because that is apparently all you know how to do. Lynch also has incentive to play hard. Even if he wants out of Buffalo, in order to pull in a nice contract with another team down the road, he'll need to appear to be worth it. It is in both Buffalo's best interest and Lynch's best interest for him to play for Buffalo this season. -
Some interesting player observations from OTAs
ChasBB replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree -- talk is cheap this time of year. Also, I'd rather he just shut up and let the quarterbacks play it out to see who starts -- a little early to be backing one guy over another if you ask me. Like Gailey said, all 4 will be given the opportunity to earn the starting job, so kind of which Green would just shut up already. -
Give Levy a chance. I bet he leads this team to the Super Bowl -- you heard it here first!! Oh, and Polian, even though he is just some schmuck from within the organization, he seems to have a head on his shoulders -- give the guy a chance.

Excellent! At least there's no chance of dropping in the rankings. Seriously, this is fine with me. The Bills are going to surprise a lot of people. -

Holy Crap, this team wasn't doing Squats?!?!?!!?
ChasBB replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of my high school football assistant coaches used to say "You're most likely to get injured when your not going 100%". I think that makes sense. If you're on the field and not giving it your all, then you become the target rather than the arrow. You're getting hit instead of doing the hitting. Of course, not giving 100% on the field really ties back in with poor S & C. There may be some players who are just lazy and lack a competitive spirit on game day, but I think guys like that are the exception. I don't think you make it to the NFL without some degree of competitive spirit. However, I think most cases of not giving 100% on the field relate back to poor S & C. I'm looking forward to watching this team this year. They may or may not succeed, but if they don't succeed I don't think it will be due to a lack of effort if what Whitner and other players say is true. -
To be so badly out-coached, out-conditioned, out-worked, etc. and to STILL win 6 games last year and 7 the prior years is really amazing. That hints that the team HAS some genuine talent -- at least in areas.

Every year at least one team GETS it.
ChasBB replied to grammer_police's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are some big differences between then and now. This time our HC is an offensive mind and not a defensive mind. Additionally, Gailey HAS made it to the playoffs as the HC of an NFL club. Greggo had not. Our new GM understands the physical attributes players must have and doesn't reach for a Parrish (and I really do hope Roscoe has a great year this year, but just sayin'). There ARE concerns with this team -- the QB position, the OL, but I trust Gailey's track record in developing average QB's and the fact that he is a genuine offensive mind who truly will utilize his talent effectively and not just say that he will. Truth is that NONE of us KNOWS what will happen this year. Just gotta play the games and find out.
