  1. Wasn't there a Greg Bell in the 80's? Edit: never mind -- I see Greg mentioned in orig post.
  2. It would be great to see Brohm light it up with a variety of throws -- down the middle, deep, etc. Someone has got to step up and challenge Edwards.
  3. Until the Bills prove otherwise, they are losers. There's only one way to gain respect in the NFL and that is to WIN football games. Until that happens, we can routinely expect these types of comments from media types.
  4. Very interesting. I think something may be brewing with ownership change, too. No facts or anything. Just makes sense to transfer ownership now rather than later.
  5. I agree, but maybe it's more of a case of what Brohm is not rather than what he is. Brohm is NOT Trent and for some, that is enough justification. I'm not saying I'm for or against Brohm -- I want to see how he performs in pre-season games before making an opinion on him.
  6. I have to agree with you. The same old BS about "a play here or a play there and it's a different ball game" just doesn't play any longer. Then MAKE those plays, dammit. The Redskins outplayed Buffalo, period.
  7. I, too, have been a bit overly optimistic, it appears. I'm not about to write off the season over one pre-season game, but it sure was a disappointing performance. I expected a lot more from the passing game. I didn't expect to see our secondary ripped. I didn't think the team would/could have such a pitiful special teams showing. Yes, new coaches, new system, youth movement, etc., etc., but the excuses are getting tiring. I'm so tired of TE's BS about watching the tape and fixing problems. I'm not giving up, but my expectations for this season got a major reality check last night.
  8. Brohm's absence was by design. Likewise, Fitz will not see action next game while Brohm takes over for Trent. I think what we CAN read into it is that either Brohm or Fitz will be gone before the season starts (unless one of them REALLY stands out and totally out-performs Edwards). I think the final roster will include Edwards, (Brohm or Fitz), and Brown. I'm SOOO sick of TE's post-game interviews -- like a broken record (reminds me of Bledsoe's interviews) -- "blah...blah...Look at the tape...blah...blah...Got to fix that...blah...blah". It's just a bunch of meaningless BS. You don't fix anything by sitting and watching tape. You FIX something ON THE FIELD with winning performance. No, I'm not saying players shouldn't study tape. I'm just saying I'm tiring of TE's BS.
  9. I recall protests many years ago by Native Americans against the Buffalo Bills as William Cody was famous (or infamous) for participating in nearly wiping out the bison population -- the very livelihood of the plains Indians. Well, to William Cody's credit, he also took on a major role in PROTECTING the bison later in his life when he realized how serious the state of the bison population was in. So perhaps Buffalo Bill helped ensure the population wasn't COMPLETELY wiped out.
  10. As per Chris Brown (http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/08/13/w...nators-will-be/) ... "We all know that head coach Chan Gailey will be on the sideline at kickoff in tonight’s preseason opener, but which coordinators will be up in the booth and which will be on the sidelines? "Offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins will be upstairs to be Gailey’s eyes in the sky for the offense. Defensive coordinator George Edwards however, wants to be down on the sidelines. "Gailey will be calling the plays for the offense, which he will relay to quarterbacks coach George Cortez, who will radio the play into the quarterbacks." So, my question is why the middle man? Is it because Gailey will be focused on listening/speaking with Modkins that it would be too much to also radio plays into the QB? I can see that I guess. My concern is delay-of-game penalties. One additional layer to communicate something just delays the play-calling process and could be costly when seconds count. Any thoughts on this? Not a big concern?
  11. Totally agree with bolded statement. He'll wear out his welcome in NYC before too long.
  12. No, I cannot see worse than last year. The OL has a little more experience now (though lost some, too -- Butler), but overall I think will be improved. The defense should be better just on the scheme alone, but I also think we've got some real players on D. Sure, can be stronger in areas, but solid coaching it seems will help put people where they need to be. They may or may not make the playoffs, but think they'll be at least around the .500 mark.
  13. We don't yet know what Gaily fully is yet, but I think we know what he is not: He's not going to stand on the sidelines w/o a headset on (Wade) He's not going to stand motionless on the sidelines during intense moments of the game with that deer-in-the-headlights look in his eyes (Jauron) He's not going to come in as a big talker (Greggo) He'll run fundamentally sound plays and not goofy gimicks (Mularkey) So, based on that, I like him. Seriously, based on all his interviews (and I think I've seen about all of them), the guy seems level-headed, fair-minded, intelligent, motivational, wise, etc. I like him.
  14. What's hard to know is why Huggins didn't get any action last year or two. Was he just not up to it or were the coaches just too conservative to give him a shot when it mattered. One of those questions we'll never have an answer to.
  15. I agree. I thought that he was going to make the 53-man roster this year. He was having a nice OTA/camp by all accounts.
  16. That sucks. While he may not have been a starter, I was confident that he'd earn some tosses part way into the season. Any news on Felton Huggins' shoulder injury? If that turns out to be lengthy, as well, then now down to 8 receivers competing for 5 or 6 roster spots instead of 10. Hope the others can remain healthy.
  17. Well, we simply don't know how things would have played out. Maybe Fuller would have been the next big time QB under Walsh and maybe Montana would have wasted away on some other team's roster. So many dynamics go into comparisons like this to the point where it is really just impossible to say what would have happened under other circumstances.
  18. Great post! Gotta do everything possible to win NOW. The future is NOW.
  19. Oh how sweet it will be if the Bills go to the playoffs and the Patriots sit!
  20. OK, so we get our all-pro QB in the 2011 draft. Then what? We hope to have ANOTHER losing season so we can draft our all-pro LT in the 2012 draft? Of course, by then, any existing stars the team has now have aged and now need replacing. Where does it stop? What a STUPID, FLAWED mentality to actually want to lose games. Any shred of respect I had for Sully is gone with this notion. Go Bills! Edit: the ONLY time I'd want a loss would be if we were 4-11 going into game 16 and we had a chance at the top pick with a loss. However, GOING INTO A BRAND NEW SEASON with this mentality is asinine.
  21. On a similar topic of intuition. It's odd, but most times in the past when I've missed a Bills game and had to get the score later, I always just seem to know whether or not it was a win or a loss before I see the score. Neither here nor there, but just kind of odd is all.
  22. +1 Jauron probably did stunt TE's development badly along with the rest of the inept coaching staff. TE will only improve under Chan.
  23. If Buddy COULD have gotten something for Schobel, he WOULD have. Buddy isn't just being a nice guy here. The bottom line is that there was no way he was going to pull off a deal here. Yes, he could have hung on to Schobel's rights up until September just to see if any interest was going to develop over the next few weeks by other teams (injuries to their existing starters, etc.), but again at Schobel's price tag, a deal was just not going to happen. Under the circumstances, Buddy did the right thing here. Schobel also COULD have collected 2 million, but didn't, so he wasn't trying to hit the Bills for cash or anything like that. This was the best solution. The real idiots are the ones who put this contract together a few years ago.
  24. He has had a rough start to his NFL career with injuries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chad_Jackson Between hamstring injuries and torn ACL, it's little wonder he has not lived up to expectations. Maybe this will be a turning point for him finally.
  25. Who gives a damn about the FAN attitude at training camp? All I care about is the PLAYER attitude. Good grief.
