  1. I want the Buffalo Bills to come clean and say WHO pushed the Whitner pick through? Was it Marv? Was it Modrak? WHO was the genius that decided Ngata was not who we needed? I want a real answer, dammit. No offense intended to Whitner -- you probably couldn't see it coming that you'd be taken at the 8th pick. But I want a NAME -- none of this -- "it was the scouting department" or "Ralph always gets the final say-so" or that BS. I want to know WHO said "No, fellas, we're going to take Whitner". If that individual is not already gone, it's time to make that happen.
  2. Peyton Manning is classiest guy in the NFL, bar none.
  3. Disagree. Modrak joined the Bills in 2001: http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster/Tom-Modrak/1f0d5277-1320-4d0a-8630-22b7eea5d89c However, what I'm not sure about is WHEN in 2001 he joined -- before or after the draft?
  4. I agree that Lynch has stayed clear of trouble and probably has smartened up. However, you just KNOW that Seattle was constantly throwing that up in Buddy's face during negotiations -- "You know, Buddy, we are taking a HUGE risk on Lynch -- one strike and he's gone for the whole year". So, while Lynch may never get in trouble again, the fact is that his past situation factored into negotiations. That said, Buffalo perhaps could have held out a week or two longer -- up until the trade deadline -- to see if Seattle or another team became desperate enough to sweeten the deal. It's a tough situation. Nix just didn't have the leverage he may have had otherwise.
  5. This has been mentioned several times, but it bears repeating: Lynch was (and is) ONE strike away from a FULL SEASON suspension. Seattle is taking a risk, thus Lynch's trade value was a bit diminished under those circumstances.
  6. I would welcome a trade-down. It just makes sense. Unless a clone of Jim Kelly is sitting there at #1, then why take the chance? May as well trade down and load up on needed draft picks and beef up the lines. If Buffalo "earns" the #1 draft pick, I hope they DO trade it away. Many will say it is just Ralph being cheap, but if they do this it will also be to the benefit of the rebuilding plan.
  7. Exactly HOW great were the "seats"? Sideline view, perhaps?
  8. This surprises me. From what I've seen of JW's posts in the past, he dished it out as much as anyone does on this site. He seemed to have a thick skin and seemed to enjoy mixing it up a bit with other posters. I missed what Chimp posted, but I gather it must have really crossed the line. I hate to see good posters go.
  9. I did a "view source" on the page and here is the poster's intended link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inKtdfodCak I also have to agree with this poster. Unless there is a Jim Kelly type of talent out there (and I just don't know honestly -- maybe there is), I'd rather see the lines get beefed up.
  10. If our OP is who I think he is, he played both ways, also.
  11. THANK YOU for posting this. I had this very same thought. Fitz has lost 3 games and being a successful QB is all about winning, so I'm not here to defend Fitz, but his role in the 3 losses he started in is minimal when your defense is giving up 30+ points per game. The team is not 0-5 because of Fitz. I thought it was an idiotic thing for the owner to say. He could have just said something like "we need to improve at nearly all positions" and just leave it at that. He didn't have to say we're out to get a QB next year. Oh, here's a thought, how about improving the LINES first!
  12. Die Hard: Did you ever have a holding penalty nullify a Haven Moses TD against Cincy? Just askin' because I saw a reference to such in Abramoski's book (edit: oops, wrong book -- I mean Rockin the Rockpile) Oh, I should ask a more positive question -- did you help to set up the 1st score against the Broncos by returning a blocked field goal attempt?
  13. People also need to remember that our fans are EVERYWHERE. There are so many displaced Western New Yorker's. Buffalo's fan base is probably just as large as many other NFL teams when you take into account the many fans no longer living in the region. And with television revenues being far more important than filling the stadium and with the blackout rules very likely to be modified or eliminated, there's really no good reason to not keep the Bills in Buffalo.
  14. Given that the Bills are finally openly admitting that we are looking at a 3-year re-building plan, doesn't it make sense to trade Evans for a draft pick at this point? Give the poor guy a shot to play for a contender plus help out our future. Even if you are of the opinion that Evans is a true #1 receiver, will he still be in 2-3 years time? Time to stockpile draft picks.
  15. Agree. No one drafted in the first 3 rounds should be considered a "project". Players drafted that high need to contribute somewhat their first season.
  16. Nitro: I think your post is a well-reasoned one. I agree at this point this season has been reduced to a rebuilding/evaluation year (would have thought Gailey could have used old game film for talent evaluation purposes, but guess he had to see it for himself). At this point, I want to see the young guys get all the action as they are the future. I'll probably be excited again by next April, but ain't feeling it right now for sure.
  17. I've got to admit that I'm losing faith in Nix. I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt all along here, but as GM, he's got to be in contact with the 31 other teams trying to make something happen. If he's not doing that then he's not doing his job properly. I don't know if the report is true or not, but if it is, then this reflects very poorly on Nix. I mean, this is not rocket science. If you are a good evaluator of talent, than you analyze the needs of the 31 other teams to see which teams could use a guy like Lynch. From that list, you shorten it a little more by including only the teams likely to make a serious playoff run (thus will be more motivated to give up a little more to get Lynch). But the lines of communication MUST be open with ALL teams.
  18. "Steve Johnson, the rookie out of Florida" -- geez, the commentators are a joke.
  19. +1 -- Bills simply do not have the studs on defense to win. This is a weak team. I'm not defending Edwards here. For all I know, maybe he should be fired, but the DL and the line backers just aren't capable enough to win in this league.
  20. Freddie!! That's why.
  21. Well, if that penalty on Jones doesn't sum up the Bills' bad luck with penalties. The call on Jackson was BS.
  22. seems like I see a little 4-3 today.
  23. y, he could have got up and kept running I think. Good thing he didn't toss the ball down or something.
  24. Nice pick! Troup created the opportunity.
