Doug Whaley and Russ know about TBD
ChasBB replied to BillsGuru4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not saying front office should be making decisions based on what they read on TBD, but at the same time I believe it's important for management to get a general "pulse" of where the fans are at. And they are only human - many fans come up with some excellent ideas that may not have been considered (if 2 heads are better than 1, then tens of thousands of heads has to amount to something). So, in the end, they have to remain detached to a degree, but would be doing themselves a dis-service if they didn't stop in here every now & then. They are only human, too. -

Players who belong on the Wall of Fame
ChasBB replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 Chandler still my favorite all-time Bills receiver. Would have been a perennial pro-bowler on a better team. -
a bit of caveat emptor regarding Rex's Jets defenses
ChasBB replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This little tidbit is neither here nor there, but was looking over historical team stats and noticed that only 3 teams in NFL/AFL history have ever ranked #1 in all 4 of following categories (points, yards, points allowed, yards allowed). The 3 teams are: 1942 Chicago Bears 1964 Buffalo Bills 1972 Miami Dolphins -
Can we hold onto Schwartz for next year?
ChasBB replied to LA Grant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree - is a win-win if he stays. -
Can we hold onto Schwartz for next year?
ChasBB replied to LA Grant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm a bit concerned, but this has been a good situation for Schwartz, too. In his own best interest, he might just stick it out for another season and boost his value on the market even more after next season. He's has a load of talented players on his side of the ball and it would be great to see him stay on as DC. Salary caps don't apply to coaching staff to best of my knowledge, so having a committed and deep-pocketed owner is a good situation, as well. -
Pack Bills Predicion; Please include score
ChasBB replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's an NFC sweep: Bills 44 Packers 10 -
Orton just needs to not suck for him to help this team with our defense as it is. And, who knows, maybe he's the next Kurt Warner who finally gets it after a decade in the league, but even if he doesn't become the next Kurt Warner, if he can just maintain decent and competent play, he can help take this team to the playoffs.

The extra point was VERY close to being blocked. Need better protection there.

Has CJ Spiller played his last game as a Buffalo Bill?
ChasBB replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt CJ's injury even happens on a grass surface. -
Good grief - how many games has Buffalo lost over the years that they should have won? It's beyond counting. So they finally win one they probably should have lost - so what - enjoy the win - that's all that matters.

I think bringing in Tim Murray will pay big dividends down the road for the Sabres. The only mistake Pegula made was letting Darcy Regier hang around too long, but he figured it out eventually that he needed to bring in some real GM talent and he did so. Sure, the Sabres are off to a rough start this season, but it will take time to infuse the team with talent, but Murray looks like the perfect GM to correct that. I trust that Pegula will make a well-considered decision on the future of football operations with the Bills - even if it means staying with Whaley as GM. At least the Bills roster isn't as bare as the Sabres roster was, so things could turn around more quickly for the Bills than the Sabres.

Angst in New England - Love It
ChasBB replied to Stormin Norman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. They will improve. And the bottom line is that they are 2-1 despite stumbling. -
It is obvious the Bills are not status quo anymore
ChasBB replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very glad - that's the one name I wanted to see on the cut list more than any - way too many dropped passes and his supposed speed never seemed to play much of a factor, either. -
Great question! If the coaching staff is this asleep at the wheel to miss something like this, what other more subtle give-aways are being missed - either by EJ or others on offense?!

A fan did indeed call into the JM show Saturday after the game to make this comment, as per someone I know who listened to the show that evening. Kind of scary. Edit: Actually, upon re-reading my mail, I'm not sure of the timing of the call to the show, but the person who mentioned this to me did their own evaluation of this after hearing this on the JM show and judged it to be true. The JM show when this call was made must have been prior to Saturday's game, I think.

Russ: So, Marrone, if a random fan calling into the John Murphy show can spot the tendency for EJ to put his mouthpiece in on passing plays and leave it out during running plays, would it be asking too much for you or someone on your staff to, you know, maybe pick up on this tendency at some point during camp and, you know, maybe let EJ know that's kind of a problem? Marrone: Oh, don't worry, we always complete a full self-evaluation of our tendencies during the bye week. We'll get those kind of things sorted out by week #10 for sure! Whaley: Why did I leave Pittsburgh, why?

Buffalo's new stadium - will Super Bowl be played in it?
ChasBB replied to WotAGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think a new stadium in Niagara Falls could result in a successful future Super Bowl bid. -
New owner should move the Bills to AFC North
ChasBB replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Buffalo and Miami had split wins and losses somewhat evenly throughout the decade of the 70s, there probably never would have been much of a rivalry between the two teams to begin with. The rivalry was based on Buffalo losing 20 straight games from '70 to '79 to go 0-for the entire decade of the '70s. Geez, if that's what it takes to form a rivalry, then to hell with it. True geographic rivalries would be much better and would eventually become much stronger. I always liked the idea of Buffalo in a division with Pittsburgh and Cleveland - hope it happens one day. -

I don't know anything about him, but I love this quote from the link provided above - "Terrifying power in short yardage to set and re-establish the line of scrimmage." -

Bills to meet with Rogers Communications
ChasBB replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buffalo had no trouble supporting the team in the early 90s when they were winning. There is plenty of support in WNY. Toronto fan base is not needed. Start winning and the fan support will be there. Also, politicians in WNY need to address the root cause of the issue which is population loss -- due to excessive taxes and business regulations, etc. Make Buffalo a business-friendly place and the population will come back. It's all about jobs, plain and simple.
