  1. According to the Washington Post and Stats.com, Owens tied for fourth in the league with 9 Passes dropped. NINE! Ahead of him on the list were washed up players like Dallas Clark and Santonio Holmes. Calvin Johnson and Marques Colston each had eight drops and Andre Johnson, Brandon Marshall and Randy Moss had 7 -- I guess those guys all suck too? Some of you hammer heads really need to stop believing the garbage that the so-called "analysts" spew during their T.O. rants. IMO Owens was the best receiver on the Bills in '09 -- Evans can not get open like he can. Sure Owens had his share of drops -- but more than a few were the result of the piss-poor throws by Buffalo's all-star laden QB's. NFL drops in '09
  2. Since we have been busy this off-season raiding the Georgia Tech coaching staff, I'm wondering which GT player they might land? Out of the top four, I doubt Morgan makes it to Buffalo's slot. I like Dwyer (replacement for Lynch?) but wouldn't want him in round 1-2 with our other need areas. I really like Morgan Burnett and would absolutely love him in the third round if he's there. Anybody think we get a GT prospect? 1. DE Derrick Morgan, Georgia Tech 2. RB Jonathan Dwyer, Georgia Tech 3. S Morgan Burnett, Georgia Tech - my choice, would love him in the third (would think about him in the second) 4. WR Demaryius Thomas, Georgia Tech
  3. Quick -- someone get the number for Mike Williams. Our pitch can be, "Forget that #4 Pick bust label, this time around you can eat as much as you want and we won't complain. Just squat in the middle of the defensive line and become a big blob"
  4. I'm willing to give him a shot -- and if past quotes are any indication he could be a nice fit... Gators name DC
  5. I really disagree with your assessment on these 2 QB's. First, I don't think you can label a kid from Oklahoma a "warm weather QB." Warmer than Buffalo - maybe -- but if you were going by that measuring stick we would only be able to draft Qb's from Minnesota and Canada. Second, Bradford is 1 inch and 1 pound bigger than Clausen (so if you're saying Bradford has a thin frame then Clausen has a thinner frame). Third, this year was the first injury that Bradford had -- and other QB's who've had the same injury have come back stronger (Drew Brees). I think Bradford is going to be working that much harder to prove people wrong about the injury label (see Thurman Thomas). I get you are a ND fan -- but let's not be too big a homer. I would take Bradford in a split second at #9 if he was there (don't think he will be). Clausen might not even go in Rd. #1.
  6. I watched most of this game, here are my observations FWIW: 1. I don't think you can take much from this game (the more important evaluations are in the practice sessions during the week to see how they adjust to the speed of the NFL tempo/coaching. 2. QB-Lefevour was the best QB on the field today (threw a long TD pass to Gilyard that was right on the money over the shoulder), but that said none of them were 1st rounders IMO. Lefevour was the closest -- but he struggled with the out pass and his accuracy was up and down (he threw to the wrong shoulder more than once). He does have some good wheels (better than Tebow) but I don't think he will be much different from Trent Edwards (3rd rounder). 3. QB-Tebow does not appear to be headed for the pro bowl. He looks like backup material that could be utilized in a gimmick role. He may be a solid leader and have great character but his decision making (doesn't throw into tight windows and seems to have difficulty reading defenses -- checked off ALOT today) along with his escape-ability (will not outrun speedy NFL defenders -- tries to bowl them over instead) do not translate to the pro level. 3. QB-Pike doesn't look like anything special. He looks like he needs about another 25-30 pounds added on and doesn't have a very strong arm based on his out throws. 4. RB/WR - McCluster is small but will have an impact in the NFL. He is speedy quick and makes people miss. I doubt he can be an everydown back -- but will have a role on some team (KR,Change of Pace/Darren Sproles type). 5. RB Blount (Oregon) looks like Jerome Bettis. This guy is big, nasty and a load on the goal line. I think he would look good in Buffalo - really impressed with him (though he does have the whole fight club drama to overcome). 6. RB Ben Tate was the other running back that stood out to me. I think this kid will be a sleeper and has some quicks to him. 7. I wasn't overly impressed with any of the WR's (aside from McCLuster) but the two that stood out were Gilyard (Cincinnatti) and Jacoby Ford (Clemson). 8. OL - Tackle Vladimir Ducasse impressed me the most. The guy is big and looked really strong as well as had quick feet. I thought he did a great job while playing LT (not sure where else they put him). He was able to shuffle his feet and keep his base while taking on edge pass rushers. 9. OL - Guard Mike Iupati -- he looked very physical (Eric Wood-like), but was called for a penalty that negated a touchdown pass. He looked solid as the LG (paired with Ducasse) and a little out of place when lined up at RG. 10. OL - Tackle Ciron Black (LSU)-- just say no to him in any round. This guy is a huge presence that is slow as hell. Couldn't stop edge rushers to save his life. 11. DL - DE/LB Brandon Graham (Michigan) - spent most of the game terrorizing opposing QB's in their backfield. This kid has a great motor and is very quick around the corner. He is listed at 6-2 262, and some have questioned if he can put his hand on the ground as rusher or if he fits better as a 3-4 OLB. Reallly liked what I saw from him. 12. DL Tyson Aluala -- quick, tough Samoan. Kid wrecked havoc whenever he was in the game. Liked him alot. 13. DL Mount Cody (Alabama) -- assuming he has his head screwed on right and doesn't eat his way out of the league (Mike Williams flashback) I would definitely want this guy to be the center of my 3-4 line. He took up 2 blockers every play. He did rotate out alot (probably not a 3 don player, but DAMN that kid is a big presence. Pat Williams-ish. 14. DL George Selvie -- the next aaron Maybin. Definitely say no. He is not an NFL DLineman. 15. LB -Sean Weatherspoon - very impressive player. Will contend for Defensive rookie of the year. He's always around the ball and looks for contact. 16. LB - Koa Misi - see write-up for Sean Weatherspoon. These two were the best looking linebackers on the field. 17. LB Daryl Washington - he was the third best looking LB. Quick to read and react but looked a little more finesse and less physical. 18. 2 Best DB's were 1. Patrick Robinson (FSU) and 2. Kyle Wilson (Boise State).
  7. While I would ideally like to get a legit LT with the #9 pick, I think Bradford is the best QB in the draft and wouldn't mind a bit if we took him (I am not concerned with the shoulder -- it is similar to the Drew Brees injury and we all know how that turned out). Bradford is crazy accurate and has a big arm. Would look good in BLO (but so would McLain).
  8. The best part of this article for me was We definitely need someone who can make adjustments during the game -- besides just curling up in a little ball and letting Belicheat run over us at will in the second half.
  9. I vote that we draft the best PLAYER available. In my opinion there isn't one position that the Bills couldn't use an impact player whether that is OL, DL, LB ---whatever. I just want the best player left at #9.
  10. Trent Edwards isn't going anywhere -- $550,000 = cheap backup with starting experience. Fitzpatrick is likely out with a $1.8 million dollar salary. Buffalo's 2010 QB's: _________ - starter Trent Edwards - backup Brian Brohm/Camp Fodder - 3rd String
  11. Wow - Santa will need a bigger stocking for your wishlist. You had also better hope that they bring in Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder too -- because that's the only way we could afford all those free agents. We're not going to make a big splash in free agency -- Buddy and Chan told you in their presser that they plan on spending money on their own and building through the draft. MAYBE we land one middle tier free agent -- but the days of TO or Vick are over folks, not gonna happen.
  12. This could really have an affect (perhaps negatively) on player salaries moving forward. Given that the Pro Bowl is the week before the Super Bowl, meaning there will be players from two teams who do not play in the game -- that means alternates will have to be named -- elevating them to "Pro Bowl" status. By my count, there are 6 players from Indianapolis and 3 from the Jets (9 from Minnesota). Being named a "Pro Bowl" player triggers an agent to instantly want more money and raise their player's worth to a team. I wonder how this affects future salaries (and potential holdouts/contract disputes) moving forward. I don't think they have enough alternates to accommodate all the potential empty Pro Bowl spots. Anyone know how many alternates there are (I think Kyle Williams is one)?
  13. I will likely never warm to the Maybin pick, but I don't doubt that a full NFL off-season conditioning program can do wonders for his size/strength. No matter how hard he worked out before he reported to camp last year -- it likely wasn't as good as supervision from a pro NFL team (Bills staff or not).
  14. I hope Nevergive up doesn't take too much offense to the posters defending Tim Graham's story (I think they are a little protective of him). I understand the point TG's defenders are making (that his information was given to him by Marty's camp and that is the only side he has), but clearly nevergiveup has the Bills inside info and I for one would much rather have that perspective. Please keep this type of info coming nevergiveup -- I really value the insight that you have and look forward to reading your posts!
  15. Perhaps that's why Jr. declined our interview request. I'm not disappointed in losing out to Marty Ball though, I think Gailey can get us to the playoffs and promptly lose just as quick as Marty could/did.
  16. Guess Matt didn't waste time with the fact checking on this article. I stopped reading after this part... Romo was an undrafted free agent in the class of 2003 -- 4 seasons AFTER Gailey left the Cowboys. Another great peice of ESPN journalism.
  17. When asked about what defense he had in mind -- his response was "In a perfect world, he'd like to run a 3-4" but said it would depend on who they ultimately bring in as DC. Also reiterated that their staff will likely not include any big name "i've heard of them before" types.
  18. You're right about Troy - they were 1984 Division II National Champions (but it was 1984???) As for the Dolphins -- he is not credited as being the Head Coach. I could have also mentioned 12-7-1 record as Head Coach of the Birmingham Fire (they lost in the playoff semifinals each year) -- but since the league went defunct their is no comparing before and after. Listen -- if you're happy with Gailey's achievements as 1984 Division II National Champions then great -- but I am simply putting his Head Coaching record out there. I think it is not very good. As for context -- sure the Cowboys were coming down for their Super Bowl years -- but they still play the games and his job was to coach what was out there. At each Head Coaching stop -- my point was his teams have been better (statistically) before arrived and after he left.
  19. Since a head coach is judged by their W-L record, why is this terrible? I think his numbers speak volumes, no?
  20. So here is a look at Gailey's Head Coaching records at Georgia Tech, Dallas and Samford. Georgia Tech (2002-2007) Gailey's Record: 44wins, 32 losses (avg/season 7 wins, 5 losses) 5 years prior to Gailey (1997-2001): GT was 41 wins, 18 losses (avg/season 8 wins, 4 losses) 2 years since Gailey (2008-2009): GT was 20 wins, 7 losses (avg/season 10 wins, 3 losses) Dallas Cowboys (1998-1999) Gailey's record: 18 wins, 14 losses (avg/season 9 wins, 7 losses) 5 years prior to Gailey (1993-1998): 52 wins, 28 losses (avg/season 10 wins, 6 losses) 10 years since Gailey (2000-present): 83 wins, 78 losses (avg/season 8 wins, 8 losses) Samford Bulldogs (1993) Gailey's record: 5-6 5 years prior to Gailey (1988-1992): 37 wins, 21 losses, 1 tie (avg/season 7 wins, 4 losses) 5 years after Gailey (1994-1998): 30 wins, 24 losses, 1 tie (avg/season 6 wins, 5 losses) In every case, the team Gailey coached was better before he got there and better after he left (you could argue the Cowboys are better now than when he left -- as there was the Campo mess in between). I hate this move. What do Nix/Ralph/Skippy Brandon see in this guy????
  21. Seriously, WTF!!!! Why not hold onto Jauron and co. for another year and see how the collective bargaining comes out if this is the crap they are going to give us. At lest we could have had a couple more better prospects turn us down after next year. This is total crap. On the positive side -- I am really looking forward to the press conference. I want to see how Buddy can possibly put a good spin on this hire. As I said in another thread -- time to ready the "Nix Buddy" signs. Very, very, very, very disappointed in Chan Gailey.
  22. As much as this pains me to say, the Jets model is what we need in Buffalo. Face it, we have been QB-challenged since JK left and I don't think our track record would indicate we will be landing the real "QB of the future" any time soon. So be that as it may -- we need to build a team that is based on a superb defense and a solid rushing attack. If we have that, we don't need a QB to be successful. The Jets and Ravens are the type of team I would like to see in Buffalo. Especially given our climate and the fact that you can't expect to chuck the ball around the field in Nov/Dec. I really think we should focus on building this type of team. Pass on QB in round 1 -- let's fortify the Defense and Oline. Let's also name a coach that is committed to this.
  23. Don't believe Charlie Casserly -- this is just his opinion. Total bull ****. Case in point -- Tony Dungy (who had no intentions of taking the Seattle job -- but somehow already had his head coach picked out) WTF -- this is just pathetic. I can't believe how these guys make stuff up to look credible. Stop the insanity.
  24. I heard that ____________ met for 6 1/2 hours in a secret meeting with Russ Brandon and told Adam Schefter on his way out the door that there was no way in hell he'd be taking the job and has respectfully rejected the offer. Chris Mortensen apparently has a source who has a source that heard a source speculate that although Leslie Frazier is the clubhouse leader, ___________ really impressed the Bills FO and they would be making an all-out push to land him by flying in Jamie Nails and Carwell Gardner to "sell" Buffalo.
