Bills should go after Rothlisberger
NY Nole replied to stroud99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly when did he get convicted of anything? Is he a prick - probably. Does he flaunt his celebrity status -- sure sounds like it. However, this sums up about 90% of the NFL. Comparing Michael Vick (convicted of a crime) to Ben (accused by woman who drunk herself into a coma and doesn't remember what exactly happened) is a bit much. If you are someone that is hung up on "high character" crap - I got news for you - when NFL GM's talk about character it is FOOTBALL character they are referring to and not how many boy scout badges they have accumulated. -
Bills should go after Rothlisberger
NY Nole replied to stroud99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that the Bills should have aggressively pursued Big Ben (which I bet they did make an inquiry). I do not believe for a second though that Pittsburgh will let him go within the next 5 years unless he has an injury problem. As for the "he's one strike away" crowd - newsflash - all of these guys are "one strike away" if they f#&@ up bad enough. Give me Roethlisberger for 12 games and it would still produce better results than the sh** we have now. -
Scout Matt Williamson - ESPN chat

I vote the Bills draft Aaron Maybin #1 -- I think he has alot of potential and fits a need. Oh wait, nevermind. -
I think the Dolphins definitely made out in this deal and believe Marshall will be a very good player for them. For those thinking that the Bills are doomed because they didn't trade for either Marshall or Holmes -- there's still the issue of paying these two. Both are going to be signing big-time contracts (Marshall will want something close to $10 mil/per). If you are unwilling to do that - they would simply be playing out their contract-tenders for a year -- and that would amount to nothing more than a T.O. show. People need to step away from the keyboard. Buffalo has bigger problems than finding a top WR (OLine, DLine and QB). Let's see what happens in the draft before we warm up the tar and start plucking the feathers.

Gotta disagree with you Ice. I think the Bills could use a right tackle as much as a left. I remember the last time we brought in a Raider cast-off to shore up the right side and that didn't turn out so well. If Bulaga is there at 9 I would much rather take him over Spiller...and I love Spiller. A starting RT would be on thefield for every offensive snap. A rotational running back would only see 50% at most. Good RB's can be found later (see McCluster and Ben Tate).

UPDATED: Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos
NY Nole replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have alot of faith in Buddy -- but Tebow and #9 would be hard for me to stomach -- especially after last year's first round debacle. -
Agreed - but he knows what to look for in a QB based on these two. As for Cutler -- he turned in his best season under Shanny and had an unbelievable year -- the likes of which Bills fans haven't seen since Kelly (I don't count 1/2 season of Bledsoe).
-
I disagree with your logic. The Redskins could have easily taken Clausen with their pick and plugged him in like Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, Mark Sanchez or Matt Stafford were. If Clausen shows this "franchise-QB" trait that many of his fans think he displays -- why in the world would you bypass him to take an aging QB with a history of injuries? Washington had 5 wins last season and as delusional as Dan Snyder's win-now, overpay-for-player's mindset is -- they hired Shanahan for the long-term not the short term. Also - Shanahan knows a thing or two about QB's (Elway,Cutler) and if he doesn't think Clausen warrants a pick that high -- why would he be an attractive option 5 picks later?
-
Washington told you all you need to know about Clausen. He's not a viable top 10 QB prospect. If he was - they wouldn't have just traded for McArrogant (who's lifespan is probably only 2-3 more years). There are much better options to draft at #9 over a player that won't be good enough to beat out Edwards, Fitzpatrick or even Brohm next year. I want a top 10 pick to contribute in a meaningful way next year, not collect millions for nothing (ala May-Suck).

Wood is confident he'll be ready by TC
NY Nole replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is simply amazing. Wood has been my favorite Bill since he was drafted and this only increases his legend in my book. That was one of the most horrific injuries I have seen in a long time and his recovery is simply mind-blowing. I can't believe the Bills managed to make this pick last year. I guess a blind squirrel does find an acorn once in a while. -
Aaron Maybin hanging with McGahee in Miami
NY Nole replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buddy Nix would be my hero if he shipped this loser out of Buffalo via trade. -
I really like Ben Tate -- would absolutely love to see Buffalo land him.
-
Seriously, you can count on one of these threads at least once a week re: why Buffalo sucks and noone wants to play or coach for our team...blah blah blah. I really don't know how each year the only teams staffed with real players are Miami, Dallas, San Diego, New York and Boston? Yet, somehow we persevere and field a team with actual professional football players and coaches.

McNabb to be traded soon? Only Reid stands in the way
NY Nole replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McNabb is/has been/will forever be an over-rated QB. He is also a whiner and choker. And, because he is not white, Rush Limbaugh was labeled a racist for stating the obvious. Let Philly keep their own trash in McNabb and no Vick, we don't need it hauled to BLO. -
Bills have made it clear they are not bringing in "The Names" -- we'll land a few guys that you have to google, but I have a hell of alot more faith in this FO to find quality talent that fits our system.

Rich Gannon on Sirius Today Talking About Maybin
NY Nole replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I had to get in on this discussion, not that it matters cause we are stuck with this POS, but Maybin was, is and always will be a lousy, over-rated player. I hope he develops...somewhere else. He would never have been selected had Buddy ran our draft (as he should have) last year. God - I am still fuming over this wasted pick a year ago and will likely never get over it. Here's to you '09 Bills Brain Trust, long live the incompetence. -
Maybe this wasn't such a good year to switch to the 4-3 .....Suh, McCoy and a few free agent tackles out there. Just sayin'

I vote that we stay on target with the #9 pick and take OL,LB,QB,DL -- then grab the SS from Georgia Tech in round #3

Bills Weather Conditions for Home Games (Stats)
NY Nole replied to SouthernMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wind is definitely the biggest factor at Bills games. It can be 70 degrees and sunny at RWS and still feel like 30 with the wind chill. -
Where will all the Lefevour fans be a few years from now when he is out of the league or buried on somebody's depth chart holding a clip board. This kid is not our QB savior. If you think he is that good, yet by some mysterious fortune he will slip to the Bills in the 3rd round you are all delusional. Trent Edwards was a 3rd round QB and he hasn't worked out all that well. There is a reason he is an afterthought on most draft discussion -- he is a marginal player.

Myron Rolle, Rhodes Scholar questioned at Combine
NY Nole replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Huge Myron Rolle fan, but he was an average safety at FSU and I don't think he will be anything exceptional at the next level. That said, I hope the kid gets to live his NFL dream and then goes on to develop a cure for cancer or something. He's a class act all the way -- but not worth a high pick. -
enjoyed watching the OL/TE combine
NY Nole replied to ....lybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you that Okung looks like the best OT. I came away very impressed with Trent Williams, thought he looked very athletic (not out of shape as you suggest). I also thought Williams did the best in the kick-slide drill, which to me is the most important OL drill. I also really liked what I saw from Ducasse in the Senior bowl and today. Campbell has the physical look, but I saw plenty of Maryland vs. FSU and he was anything but dominating. -
I know Tim doesn't write the headlines, but C'mon. To imply that Lynch won't be a Bill because of what Gailey said in Tim's article is a HUGE stretch of the imagination. No rational person could possible attribute Gailey's comments as suggesting Lynch could be traded. It's just absurd.

Darth - your boy is headed to either St. Louis or Washington. My money is on the deadskins (as an aside, I find it somewhat ironic that one of the reasons that eSPIN reported Shanahan would not go to Buffalo was the fact that he wanted an established QB -- oops wrong again ClayMort douches). I think Bradford is the only QB worth taking in the first round. Buffalo would do well in selecting him -- but they'll never get a shot.
