  1. During his monologue, he played a clip of TO saying he "beats to his own beat sometimes." Jimmy said "some people also drum to their own drum." I guess this signing really has impacted the Bills national exposure.
  2. If they don't want to pay Peters the kind of money he is after what makes you think they would want to move into the top five slot and pay the insane money that goes along with those contracts. I think Jason Smith will go #2 to the Rams and Monroe will be quick to go after that. Don't think I would wanna move up if I were the Bills IMHO.
  3. Robinson only did 20 reps at Bench Press -- seems awful low to me. Strength and conditioning will have some work to do.
  4. For all the pundits talking about the Bills bleak outlook in '09 (even with the TO signing) and praising the rest of the divisional moves consider: (1)Buffalo went 0-6 in the division and still finished 7-9 - a couple close wins like the Jet game in the Meadowlands and the Bills would have been 9-7, 10-6. (2) for all the praise being heaped on the Jets off-season -- did everyone forget they lost their starting QB from a year ago. When did they sign Favre's replacement? (3) TO is no different than 95% of the league -- these guys are all primadonnas and have been coddled since pop warner -- TO is just someone who humors the media with soundbytes. He is passionate about being successful and doesn't settle for mediocrity. (4) my god, if I listened to the media I would think I am living in some hell hole that has nothing to offer. Last I checked Buffalo, still has people that are employed, entertainment venues and media outlets. Oh and by the way Mortensen -- we sell out every single game in a stadium bigger than most NFL cities.
  5. That would be bigger --- wish I could have been part of that.
  6. Bledsoe was big, but I think this is bigger. The trade for Cornelius Bennett may be right up. Is this the biggest off-season move in Bills history?
  7. If the Cheatriots signed him, this would be lauded as an excellent move and TO would be an excellent additiion yada yada... and...what the hell are these people talking about that Buffalo has trouble selling out-- didn't we sell out every single game in Buffalo last year???? I think this move makes great sense -- he's here for one year, he needs to behave and have a good season or his career is over and worst case scenario we miss the playoff's.....again. What am I missing?
  8. Good find, I didn't know the extent to his injury history. He was still productive last year, but clearly this medical situation will devalue his future demands.
  9. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...CE?OpenDocument Apparently, he will be released anyways (due a million dollar roster bonus on March 17) but the Rams have been actively trying to trade both him and T Orlando Pace. Personally, I like him better than Coles -- but he's probably going to want even more money than Coles. I do think the teams looking for a WR is dwindling after all the recent signings and TO is now the top attention getter -- so who knows -- we might be able to capitalize.
  10. I can't take anymore posts about the Bills signing a "backup" C/G. This is NONSENSE. Geoff Hangartner looks like a very good, young player who spent the first 4 years of his career on a solid offensive line. Last year, he STARTED 8 games and played in many others. So for all those who only think of Geoff Hangartner as a backup C/G, I would like to see how the rest of the current Bills "starters" would stack up against the Carolina "starters." Might there be any other "backups" on our current line?? 2008 Panthers OLine (20 Sacks given up) vs. Buffalo Bills Oline (38 sacks given up) LT: Jordan Gross (28 yr old, 6-4 305) vs. Peters (27 yr old, 6-7 340) LG: Travelle Wharton (27 yr old, 6-4 312) vs. Dockery (28 yr old, 6-6 330) C: Ryan Kalil (23 yr old, 6-3 295) vs. Fowler (29 yr old, 6-3 310) RG: Keydrick Vincent (30 yr old, 6-5 325) vs. Butler (25 yr old, 6-7 315) RT: Jeff Otah (22 yr old, 6-6 330) vs Walker (29 yr old, 6-8 366) Peters is the only starter on the Bills that matches up to his Panthers counterpart IMHO, but I'd rather take Gross. Other than that, I believe every Bills lineman would have been a "backup" on the 2008 Panthers.
  11. Way too much money to pay for this guy. Dumb move for Bills, dumb move for Bengals. But hey -- at least with that much money he won't have to "steal" any more shoes in his lifetime. We can now rightly focus our attention on other ways to improve this team for '09.
  12. My point, fellow grasshopper, is that we have additional needs on the defensive side of the ball and will be paying a hefty contract to Mr. #11 draft pick. Making Coles the $6 Million Dollar Man doesn't seem to be a wise use of our "cash-to-the-cap" funds.
  13. You're forgetting: an 11th overall draft pick, and starting LB, DE, CB and SS. Unless the Bills are getting some of the earmarks in Obama's spending spree -- I'd say Ralph better take on a second job to afford the kind of contracts that you are negotiating. Coles is not worth the type of money he is seeking and I don't fault the Bills for not "showing him the money."
  14. I don't know if this is sarcasm, but if it isn't the logic seems to be: Jake Grove = someone I've heard of, therefore a great free agent pickup Geoff Hangartner = someone I haven't heard of, therefore a "bum" Some people might want to consider changing to Redskins fans -- since they consistently produce winning teams filled with quality free agent talent.
  15. Good find. I agree with everything this writer said. I posted in another thread that I can not believe the prevailing thought on this message board has been to sign Coles ASAP -- as if he is priority #1 and the missing link. His estimated self-worth (>$6mil/yr), age (31), the fact that we have other glaring holes (LG) make it hard for me to stomach the thought of signing this guy for anything but a league minimum. Just because he is someone you've "heard of" doesn't make him any better than the options we already have. We need to be proactive with Peters and get a LG.
  16. Of all the needs on this team, can someone explain to me why #2 receiver has all of a sudden become our #1 priority. I also don't understand the rationale in paying a 31-yr old Laveranues Coles 6 mil/yr (who evidently no other team wants). Even though I am a huge FSU fan, his best days are behind him and I for one would like to see us use that money to either (a) find a LG replacement not named Chambers/Bell or © extend Peters' deal so that he can afford a GPS unit and locate our training camp or © get a LB not named Ellison to our starter. So, Tim if you're listening -- I vote no to making that call for Ralph.
  17. I was going to post something about this too. While I am somewhat intrigued by Hangartner -- I agree with you that it seems his best fit is at center. If this is the case, then I do not think Buffalo would use a high draft pick on the center position (meaning all those on this site that want Mack, Unger and Wood will all be disappointed.) The FO doesn't seem to draft OG very high, so I have my doubts about landing Duke Robinson, Andy Levitre or Herman Johnson. This draft is shaping up to be another disappointment.
  18. I'm not buying what John "Gollum" Clayton is selling. I call bull sh--. Maybe the Bills were exploring trades -- but beyond the Lions -- I'm not sure who would have wanted an underachieving Dockery. The whole deadline thing adds another level of dis-believability. While it would have been nice to get a draft pick -- TBD was hailing Brandon for getting rid of dead weight less than 24 hours ago. This article doesn't hold water in my opinion and shouldn't be enough to jump off the bandwagon just yet.
  19. Its better than the alternatives in Cincinnati or Detroit.
  20. If Coles turned down $6 million from the Jets, I'd say there is zero chance he will be a Buffalo Bill. I don't see the Bills paying more than that for a 32 yr-old #2 receiver who has 1-2 more good years. Although I do think he would be an upgrade.
  21. Corey is the middle of Mamie and Busari Raji, Sr.'s three children; his older brother, B.J., is a senior defensive tackle on the Boston College football team.
  22. Pat Kirwin (Sirius) mentioned his name as someone that the Bills have shown interest in at the combine. He said that he talked to Fewell at the combine over the weekend. Kirwin seemed to indicate him as being someone that they would move down for in a possible trade scenario. Any thoughts on this guy? He's 6-4 295 and Mayock has him ranked #2 Defensive End. Any thoughts on this potential RD #1 surprise pick?
  23. I would add Clay Matthews to your list and Eric Wood. After watching both, I came away impressed - I like the fact that Matthews also has an NFL family tree -- he'll probably be highly motivated to succeed. Wood looks like the center we should target.
  24. Anquan Boldin is a gamer that I would love to have on the Bills - but it would never happen. 1. He probably wants no part of the cold Buffalo climate (when he can basically go anywhere he wants for the same type of $) and 2. Buffalo would not want to put that much money into the wide receiver position after the Lee Evans extension. As to his Championship game meltdown -- he wanted to be on the field (l would love someone to share the same enthusiasm on the bills -- because our players fold like a house of cards when the game is on the line). He was upset that they took him out and believed he could go, although I understand why the Cards took him out if they felt he couldn't run on his hamstring. Either way -- I believe that was a forgivable offense. Also consider this -- Boldin was very upset about his contract situation before the season, like our "Pro Bowl" left tackle. One (Boldin) chose to play it out and do everything he could to justify the money. The other (Peters) sat on his fat ass and blew off the first quarter of the season -- then sat out the final few games with a possible playoff on the line. I would trade Peters straight up for Boldin any day.
  25. Brown is a nice player, and I've watched him alot this year and last. That said - he does not fit Buffalo's 4-3 scheme. I believe he is more the mold of a Peter Boulware and might be better suited to an OLB in a 3-4 scheme. I just don't think he could stand up well as a down lineman taking on NFL tackles all day long.
