Are you kidding me. He took a bunch of no-names and had one of the better running games in the league at the end of 2004. Remember how everyone was enthralled with Willis at the time. Well he needed a good line to do what he did. I agree he's no miracle worker but he's right up there as far as O-line coaches go. Otherwise he wouldn't be garnering so much interest. It's easy to say good-bye but who are you going to replace him with?
-
I'll concur with that.
-
Yeah, that's what I thought. Just surprised that there was so much interest in someone that wasn't really available. Is there something that we don't know?

Rams insider Jim Thomas of the Post Dispatch was on the morning talk show here in St. Louis and here’s what he dished regarding the Rams: 1. Talks with Jim Bates for DC have fallen through. It seems Bates wanted more than the Rams were willing to pay - $1 mil plus. 2. Greg Olson is just about wrapped up as the OC 3. Jim McNally was mentioned by Rams brass when discussing O-line coaches. Thought I’d pass it along. Sean Payton in New Orleans has also targeted McNally for his O-line coach. Man I sure hope ML and DJ hold on to McNally. As for Bates, I don't think RW will pay that kind of money for a coordinator.

Sherman. It's a no-brainer, imo. Now whether the Bills will make the obvious choice......depends on the musings of a couple of old guys. Also salary might be factor here as Sherman was making over $3 mil at GB. Ralph's history says he won't pony up that much for a head coach.

Officials are terrible in the NFL

Bad example. They had already whistled the play dead for in the grasp. If anything that was a late shot by Pitt that caused the fumble. So I take it back. It was a good example of bad officiating -
Officials are terrible in the NFL

Granted the Pitt Olineman moved a half an inch, but the refs didn't see/call it. But half the defense came over the line. Why was this a "no call." Should have been one or the other. -
Hey I wasn't assuming it was on the books. My point was that the only possible explanation for that call is that some obscure rule exists somewhere in the rulebook. I don't buy "the official is an idiot" argument.
-
Exactly.
-
How do you know it's not on the books?
-
Sure it does. Don't you remember the "Tuck Rule." Same exact scenario. The official made the right call there (according to the rules), when at the time everyone was calling him names much worse than "functionally illiterate"
-
Yeah, NFL.com only has an official "rules digest" and it does not make any reference to it. That's why I asked for a link. I couldn't find the official rulebook online anywhere. No doubt that the interpretation by the official that reviewed the play was based on some obscure verbage found in the rulebook. And for that I don't blame the official, I blame the NFL. No one in their right mind using common sense would say that was an incomplete pass
-
Do you have a link to the rule you cite? He did maintain possession to the ground. Therefore he has established possession. Then when he was getting up, his own knee knocked it out of his hands - fumble - which he recovered himself. Here are the only rules I could find on the topic on the NFL website. 7. Any forward pass becomes incomplete and ball is dead if: (a) Pass hits the ground or goes out of bounds. (b) Pass hits the goal post or the crossbar of either team. 8. A forward pass is complete when a receiver clearly possesses the pass and touches the ground with both feet inbounds while in possession of the ball. If a receiver would have landed inbounds with both feet but is carried or pushed out of bounds while maintaining possession of the ball, pass is complete at the out-of-bounds spot.

Good to see things finally going against the Patriots. Turnovers, bad calls against them, missed field goal. It's about time.
-
That's just disgraceful. Any cornerback in the NFL that can't finish a 100 yard dash without getting caught by a tight end is sad. He was doggin it.
-
Another wasted opportunity to get JP some game experience. I can't believe the boneheadedness of this staff/administration.
-
Wouldn't want a quarterback controversy going into the playoffs.
-
Guess not. Belichek kept Cassel in at QB with 2 mins to go and down by 8.
-
Anyone see him drop it off the ground and kick it through the uprights for the extra point. He'll probably be in for the last possession - NE down by 5. He's always had a penchant for the dramatic. Whatever you think about this guy, it's good to see him go out in a memorable way.
-
I'm in a similar predicament. I'll PM you.

Tired of people bashing JP
Jukester replied to Nick in RaChaCha's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Uh, you can't be serious. -
Awesome experience. Thanks for sharing. Can't argue with Van on the OL. His take on J.P. might be true but I think most of what ails him is the offensive line. He's losing confidence because of repeated lack of success and unless the line gets addressed this off season, his development could be permanently stunted.

The whole thing smells. Lots of questions left unanswered: What exactly did "excused from practice" actually mean? Moulds requested to have time off and coach granted it or is it that Mularkey mandated that he was not eligible to practice. I tend to think the latter. Why the suspension? EM says in his latest interview that Wilson actually wanted him to play. How can you suspend a guy when you make a statement like that. As you said, if it were a matter of practice time - inactivate him. Why isn't EM overly upset over the suspension and resulting loss of salary? He seems to be fairly ok with the way things ended up. Probably won't know the answers for sure til next year when EM is on another team and more free to talk.
-
Absolutely. Any coach that doesn't know how to take advantage of a pro bowl veteran receiver other than as a decoy is really outsmarting himself. Granted, Moulds has lost a step, but he is far from washed up. In my opinion EM has every right to be upset and I would've reacted the same way. Being a head coach is more than just Xs and Os. Player management skills are just as important and so far MM has shown he is highly lacking in this department (amongst other things). Even if MM wins this with EM, it will not sit well with the rest of the team. EM is highly respected by other players and they'll see this possibly happening to them in the near future.

Pat Williams was asked if he had an explanation for Buffalo's decision to allow him to hit the free-agent market after last season. "They are dumb," he said. "That's all I can say. They are dumb as can be up there." see article I can't say that I disagree with him. This is especially poignant considering all the issues with Sam Adams right now.
