  1. Gregg Williams talking about facing Patriot back-up QB Brady in for the injured Drew Bledsoe "The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant."
  2. Yes Plunkett can count but only his years in NE which weren't so great
  3. I agree but I wish they would have gone hard after Wade Phillips, I think he is one of if not the best in DC in football.
  4. I cut and pasted from the article, his choice of words. My point was that the the writer of the linked article has an agenda and liberal bias, and I agree with you that the tweets are funny even though they make me want to punch him in the face.
  5. Id put Lamonica at 3 Shows you how much the game has changed over the years and that football stats are the most meaningless in all of sports
  6. Good point about the accomplishments but I think Manning was on some really awful teams. I think he was much better than those Jets guys. I thought about the Pats too but they did have Bledsoe and Grogan. I think Bledsoe is better than any of the Jets guys but Brady does set the bar pretty high.
  7. He didn't have an outstanding year for the Redskins this year but I think he would be an upgrade versus Tyrod but he doesn't real strike me as a guy who will ever be a top 5 QB in this league.
  8. Okay so I thought I'd start a, hopefully fun, off-season "or hanging out in the bar" Bills discussion. Two part question... I was just reading this article on TBD about Whaley meeting with Chad Kelly (http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/01/senior_bowl_2017_chad_kelly_draft_doug_whaley_buffalo_bills_jim_kelly.html) and it contained the pretty much undisputed statement that " Chad's uncle Jim is the best to ever play the position for the Bills". It got me thinking, who is the second best QB in Bills history, most likely Joe Ferguson, Jack Kemp or maybe Daryle Lamonica. Secondly, which team has the biggest gap between GOAT (greatest of all time) for the franchise versus second best. The Jets came to mind immediately Joe Namath and ????? Testaverde? Ken O'Brien? Boomer? Not an impressive lot. When considering your answer I'm defining best/second best in terms of years with that team. As an example with the Jets you couldn't list Brett Farve because although he is HOF quality he wasn't in his year with the Jersey Jets.
  9. I agree, I recall most draft analysts didn't think there was any first round talent at QB that year... they were right
  10. I hate the Patriots (Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics) as much as anyone (I'm a NY guy living in Boston) but at least he a genuine sports fan unlike other pols like Hillary ("Cubs fan" her whole life, until she moved to NY then she was a Yankee fan) Obama who claimed to be a White Sox fan his whole life but couldn't name one player when asked who his favorite White Sox player has been. I hate the Cowboys but I admire that Chris Christie has the courage to say he's a Cowboys fan living in NJ. Finally this article is more liberal bs news when this he says that Spicers comment is "verifiably false". Anyone want to wager me he never made the same claim about statements made by Clinton or Obama?
  11. I think that his comment is more out of the emotion of the loss. He'll be back (unfortunately)
  12. no
  13. I'm not sure which game you are referring to when you say "Big Ben was skipping passes to his receivers all day". He looked very accurate against NE on Sunday, if you meant the game against the Bills that doesn't reflect what I saw. My larger point is that he is a pretty accurate passer who doesn't miss (as in not see) wide open guys nearly as often as Tyrod did. I agree that the offense last year was geared toward the run but I suspect it was done because Taylor isn't the best weapon on the team.
  14. Quite a bit, "these guys" don't all know how to throw a ball CORRECTLY, which explains Tyrod's inaccuracy (similar knock against Jones as well). For clarification I am not suggesting that I believe he will be unsuccessful I just don't see anything in his history that leads me to be excited about the choice.
  15. Tyrod Taylor didn't help this group at all, he didn't see wide open receivers in almost every game and how often did he actually hit his receivers in stride so the could pick up yards after the catch. I'm not saying this is an all-pro group but Taylor's lack of skill as a passer made them look much worse than they are.
  16. This is just Rapoport giving his opinion not based on any source or insider information by someone on the team. Just his guess and carries about as much weight as any post on this board.
  17. He seems to have done a good job with the WR's I hope the Bills retain him
  18. I can work with that! Oh I know its not easy, but the zone certainly doesn't work You are right on about hitting him, hard and often. In fact I would take a page out of the '70's Oakland Raiders playbook and hit him really hard even after he has thrown the ball. Be very aggressive and make him wince and whine. Sure it may cost you a couple of 15 yard penalties but I would do it early and give him something to think about and he clearly does. I'm not talking about intentionally hurting him but finish your tackle. Its funny that is something I thought Rex would coach his team to do like his father.
  19. You can't be a Bills fan, where is your bitterness?!!! This is the happy "why can't we all get along" song of a Patriot fan lol.
  20. I agree, not confidence inspiring at all
  21. I couldn't agree more, every time he has a bad game or loses its the same formula that you just wrote.
  22. I am have been a Johnny Football guy from the start but not even a month ago he was hanging out in clubs drunk and smoking cigarettes. He still doesn't get it,
  23. Watching Brady dismantle the Steelers (again) and hearing the announcers talking about how Brady loves to face a zone defense and how bad it was for the Steelers to continue to play zone against him my memory flashed back to this article from the Bills website: http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/5-differences-to-expect-in-Sean-McDermotts-defense/410476f5-5ef0-4c2d-88c0-6c223b97d6c1 The article titled "5 differences to expect in Sean McDermott's defense" has this as the first point. "1 - Lots of zone In stark contrast to Buffalo’s previous man coverage scheme, McDermott’s scheme plays a good deal of zone coverage. Cover 3 along with Cover 2 and Cover 4 are among the more popular calls on the back end of his defense. “In Carolina they played a lot of zone under McDermott,” Kelso said. “When they went to the Super Bowl they were playing a ton of Cover 3 with basic zone defense and had linebackers that really understood leverage control and where to drop and whether they needed to be inside or outside of receivers. “McDermott’s defense is going to be more of a base type defense and guys will understand where they need to be and when they need to be there as opposed to being in man coverage. Rex played a lot of man, sometimes some two-man. They didn’t have any one thing that they settled on, but it was more of an aggressive man defense with combination coverages. “It’s more of a match zone. You’re not dropping to a spot on the field. You’re dropping to a spot in relation to where a receiver would be in your area of the field.”" I feel like I am watching one of those documentaries that dissect a disaster that happened and go through the time line of events that led up to it.
