I'll second that recommendation. While i haven't had the surgery (my eyes are still good, knock on wood), Dr. Fichte is probably one of the most experienced eye surgeons you can find. He has done a great job on a number of family and friends.

WOW. Thanks for making me laugh today... That is quite possibly the worst song I have ever heard...it almost makes me feel bad hating the dolphins, because they are so helpless. I mean come on, who in their right mind could have thought that is a "fight" song? Sounds like the fight song for a barn dance....

10 Movies you can watch over and over again

Haven't seen PCU listed yet, that is a classic. I'd also add Canadian Bacon, and Top Gun. -
I'm going on my White Water Rafting Trip
agilen replied to MUTiger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Check out the Deerfield river, its in western MA...probably 3.5 hours from NYC. Zoar ( http://www.zoaroutdoor.com/ ) is the outfitter you want up there. Probably 4 hours or so away, the Hudson up in the Adirondacks is a great run....look up Whitewater Challengers or Adirondack River Outfitters. But get up there soon...its been a dry spring, and the river is already pretty low. Closer by, but not as exciting, there is the Lehigh River in PA. Its less than 2 hours from the NYC. -
Its a palindrome.

Just to play the devil's advocate, I was at a Sabres game a long time ago when John Muckler got in a fight with a fan. No, it wasn't the whole team, and the fan attacked him first (and not with a plastic cup), but these things do happen. It wasn't nearly as ugly an incident as the Pacers game, however.

I saw that during super bowl 38. Best part was when LT was slapping the girls on the a** as they came over to the sidelines.

Would you recognize Wayne Gretzky or Mario Lemiux if you walked by them on the street? Most hockey fans would. They are the superstars of the sport... I can't say I'd recognize half the Bills if I saw them on the street. Sidney Crosby is probably the most talked about prospect since Eric Lindros. He will almost certainly go first overall in the draft when they have it, so the draft lottery is a pretty big deal. And, if he turns out to not be a Lindros-like bust, he may actually be the next Gretzky, and you'll notice him. -

Don't worry, it will be back. Believe it or not, the new CBA is almost agreed upon. Rumor has it that the announcement will come a week from today, and the draft will be on the 25th or 26th. The Sabres will have a higher probablility of getting the 1st pick (and thus Sidney Crosby) than most teams. There is also a rumor of a pre-season tournament with cheap tickets to get the fans back into things. Today is the third day of the NHL R&D camp, where they try different rule changes to see their effectiveness on the game. TSN story Its coming back folks....and don't look now, but the Sabres should actually be pretty good -
There is some proposal floating around from Rudy Guliani about getting together $5 billion to start a rival league. If you ask me, they'd be better off flushing $5 billion down the toilet....nobody is going to pay $50 a ticket to watch the Buffalo Ice Princesses or the Toronto Pink Ponies. Pro sports are all about brand recognition, and there is no way a rival league can make in the billions without the Maple Leafs, Rangers, Red Wings, etc.

Agreed...I'd love to see the old colors and old logo back, but it won't happen this year. I think the people of WNY will come back, beacuse we will have a pretty promising team when it starts back up.

MOJO 640 in Toronto just reported that a deal has been agreed upon, but won't be signed for the next couple of days. Keep your fingers crossed, and this time next year, we'll be watching the Sabres playing in the cup finals

The union isn't selling it on the players anymore...I think they have lost, and they know it. They are spreading the word that its not a good deal they are getting, but they have to get it done now so they are taking what they can get. But, the rumor is that this deal is with linkage to league revenues, not a hard salary cap. So, if the players perform and the NHL gains popularity back, then they stand to make more money in the future, which I don't think is a terrible deal for them....its certainly worse than what they had before, but we all knew that had to change anyway.
-
They are meeting today and tomorrow in Toronto. I'm not sure that it will finish up this week, though people are saying they have most of the deal worked out, and are just working on details now. If that is the case, however, I don't see why they wouldn't announce that they have a deal in principle....the sooner they get this lockout over, the sooner they can start selling seasons tickets, getting new sponsors, etc. I think we'll know a lot more by Friday, and the deal may get done next week.
-
Things are looking up a bit...rumor has it that the players are taking over, and actually listening to the league. There is also some speculation that Goodenow won't sign the deal, and he'll be leaving the NHLPA...if that happens, then its pretty clear that this lockout is 100% his fault (and the players for not getting rid of him sooner). They met today and will meet again tomorrow....this is following a big week last week, where the Thursday meeting went from 10am to almost 1am. TSN still covers what is going on, and http://hockeyrumors.blogspot.com/ is a pretty active blog with a lot of inside information. CBA can hopefully be done within the next 2-3 weeks. They've even been talking about having a pre-season tournament or other events to get the fans back into it for next season.

(OT) Football Question On Math Test Goes Wrong...
agilen replied to Zamboni Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did the question actually say that they were on the same drive? You certainly can have an average yardage for your first six (offensive) plays, they just might not be in sequence.... -
Sounds like you need to move to a more...uh...enlightened state. I know the smokers don't like it, but to me (a non-smoker), smoking bans are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I watch the games at a sports bar...its definitely more expensive than paying for directv, because i spend ~$40-50 per game, but it is fun watching with other people.

Don't forget about the Blue Jays...if he is a city person, its worth the trip to Toronto....they have some cool museums, theatre, etc. there...and of course, a major league team.

Cornelius Bennett was #97... wasn't Darryl Talley #56? Anyway, was that sandwich just in the WNY McDonalds, or was it a national thing?
-
Don't you remember the McDonalds CB Triple? He could eat 97 of them...

Is it on TV anywhere now, or do we need to wait for CBS coverage this afternoon?

Where do you have to see a game before you die?
agilen replied to brihs2005's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lynah Rink in Ithaca, NY...especially for a Harvard at Cornell game. You'll never see a more influential crowd in _any_ sport (just don't sit down too low, or else you might catch a raw fish in the back of the head). -
I seem to no longer get the stylesheet for the board...the content is all there, but formatting is totally out of whack. This is on firefox.

Yep, its one of my favorite pre-hockey game meals. Got to go early though, as they are pretty slow making it. Man, i wish i were gonna be there this weekend...

Cornell '03 PS. Big game tonight... LETS GO RED!
