the fact that the Giants only had 2 down linemen might have had something to do with it.

Run the Ball. Therm was awesome on January 27, 1991

Maybe you replied to my comment as a random choice, but I never threw around the idea of the "greatest of all time" or anything like that. Wagner's Ring series (opera) was not the best of all time, so that is not what I compared it to. The connection I made between the Ring series and LOTR was the volume of the work compared to others in its genre and the artistry -- the sheer volume enhances the artistry because of the amount of work thrown into a project of that magnitude, pluse the artistry would be great even if it was a 90 minute Disney channel movie. You are right though, I have not seen every movie. I also have not seen every opera. But the comparision I drew still stands.

LOTR is to film, what Wagner's Ring series was to opera ... Except no one wants to watch an 18 hour opera -- I tried once, made it through about 14 hours. Even music enthusiasts have a tough time. But still, the volume and artistry of the work has never been equaled.

Interesting comment by Brady on Bledsoe
pkwwjd replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We should have drafted him? Only in hindsight. Let me ask how many of us were ready for another Michigan QB? Anyone? Anyone? A successful U of M QB really flies in the face of conventional wisdom in this league -- especially one with such a quality arm. -
I think it's just a matter of what everyone is used to -- going letterboxed is tough, we all grew up watching a 4:3 ratio screen. Besides I bought a X" screen TV and I want my movie to fill it up. Really, when it comes down to it, what convinced me for letterbox is: You have a choice to hack off one thing or another 1. Two black, empty rectangles at the top and bottom of the screen (therefore missing no part of the movie) 2. Up to 1/4 of the screen which contains cinematography that the director decided was important to the feel of the movie It's a lot easier to make the change when you look at it that way. Some movies are impossible to even picture with a full screen cut. Gibson's "Passion" probably loses a lot of impact going full screen.

I used to have a tape of when the Sabs came back to beat Boston 7-6, after trailing 6-1. They played all the goals consecutively on WGR the next morning. I forget the year, but I believe it was Andreychuck's rookie year. "Andreychuck, Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave Andreychuck!"

Interesting comment by Brady on Bledsoe
pkwwjd replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sick of both sides. What does it do for us to dig up a three year old quote (probably 3 and a half year old) that says that Brady knows he is better than Bledsoe? What's the point? Someone tell me how this adds to any discussion. It's not about defending Bledsoe. It's not about denying Brady's place in current NFL history. -
One Buffalobills.com they have the video for our best gadgets plays of the year and they start off with the fake punt to Thomas. What really got me is how much the upback (Joe Burns?) is motioning to Thomas. I know he is calling the throw, but the Raiders had to be so brain dead not to see Burns' pointing. It looked more like a ILB pointing out an uncovered receiver, than an offensive player calling out a sneaky play. It may be a little thing, but it just amazed me how obvious the upcoming play was. 'Course that is in hindsight.

Thus would be the reason that they do the 7 day remodel, rather than 30 days or something like that? Makes sense. Essentially the owners lease the home to Ty, while they go on vacation (paid by ABC of course -- probably no way around that tax issue), when they return the house is theirs again because the 7 day lease is up. Is that right? All work done during the lease is then tax exempt

I just tried it with Firefox 1.0, and it is messed up. I have no idea what or why, but somethin's wrong.

My question, best left to legal, financial types, is this: What are the tax ramifications of shows like this? I know when Oprah gives cars away, the audience memebers are responsible for paying taxes on them as income. What about a $500,000 remodeling of a house? That would be really bad to have the IRS surprise you with a $200,000 tax bill.

Why are you a Patsie fan with a user name of Roland Hooks -- who caught that famed throw from Fergy against the Pats??????

yes ... master ...

kinda freaky fez, I'm becoming more like you everyday -- spouting the virtues of DTV, then stuff like this ...

yeah, but we only scored 10 after halftime

And if we talk about Belichick, we have to talk about Jimmy Johnson. Of course, we don't cuz we hate him and we saw him fall flat in Miami (cough, cough, 62-points to Jax) Everything is magnified while it is going on. It is the thing that is magnified years later that is truly great.

As much as I despise the Paytoilets and all they have accomplished, this discussion is without merit. A month ago, Brady threw away a game, that was firmly within control, by throwing 2 picks and the defense allowed Miami to score twice -- IN THE LAST TWO MINUTES. As has been said by others already, you play to win. We can have this discussion when the Paytoilets are up by 34 on the Iggles and call the same play. BTW, by your definition of trick play, it would seem that every play is a trick play. Are you not supposed to make the defense think you're going to run one play while executing something else. Is that not proper gameplanning and scouting on tendencies? Hmmm?

How sturdy is Direct TV's satelites in bad weather
pkwwjd replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rudy, do not worry about anything? Really, man, if it isn't the Bills and a problem you've discovered, it's something else ain't it? BTW, DTV, after having it for almost 10 years -- I have nothing bad to say about it. The signal will hold if it is installed properly. I can count on one hand the times that I lost a signal due to weather -- 3 years in Chicago winters, 4 northern Wisconsin winters, and now starting my 4th northwest PA winter. -

Who are YOU rooting for...........
pkwwjd replied to BeantownRob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I always root for the hometown team after the Bills are out -- makes my life MUCH easier. Of course, I've never lived in Boston, Miami or New Jork. I'd probably change my thought process if I moved there. That being said, Pittsburgh. -
my first impression of these stats on the Bills OL is that we cut down the OL penalties A LOT this year. JimMac did a good job -- this coming year will tell us if it was a great job.
