During his years as coach, the Steelers & Dolphins won 7 of the 10 SBs (IIRC). Madden's Raiders won 1/3 of the others. Not bad. I really agree with you, Buftex. Ten years of domination by a player is a sure lock for HOF. Ten years by a coach makes you wait. Yeah, it's been long enough. He was a great coach. With that kind of early results in his career, I would have found an alternative for flying. If he had coached another 10 years, the Raiders would have won more than just one more SB -- they might have kept the Forty-Whiners out of the dynasty column.

Fox Sports Preseason Power Rankings
pkwwjd replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone else sick of playing in a division that has 3 of the top 6 ranked teams in it? Why does the AFCEast always have to be so tough? -
Sit in the family section, security was better there than in any other section I've sat in. No alcohol. Sorry, guys, but the jerk Bills fans who deserve to be tossed from the stadium for mixing it up with out-of-towners are ALWAYS drunk.

That's fine, but in Madden you can trade any OL rated in the 60s for a draft pick, sometimes up to a 5th rounder. How real is that? Player for player deals are generally realistic (though they favor the computer), but you can get a draft pick for nearly any player on your roster.

yeah, win a Gecko figure, a gecko frame, a gecko keychain, or a gecko fan

Just wondering if many of us met you unaware at the Geico booth, spinning the wheel, hoping to get a Geico fan?

I think if we could combine Evans as a receiver and Josh Reed as a blocker we might have a WR that would rival (if not surpass) Hines Ward as the one of the most desired WRs in the game.

Favre got in the discussion when I said something about him throwing INTs like "they were going out of style" to which VA replied that he had a 2-1 TD-INT ratio his first season in GB. That has been soundly refuted, despite VA's claim that only he has been using facts in our discussion.
-
It simply goes back to my post that VA was bellyaching about ... I said that JP hasn't thrown any INTs in just over 1 full game of preseason work. I know he'll throw INTs, but my point is that he's not making poor reads (mental errors, boneheaded reads) that result in picks. All QBs, regardless of experience, throw picks. JP needs to avoid the dumb ones. I'll take an ocassional pick cuz he got hit or his confidence is slightly ahead of his skill (he forces one).

hey guys, ... he said "sorry"!!!! Going out of style was my impression/opinion of his first few years. And I still would contend that 39 INTs in his first 2 years plus 5 passes a lot. That would be my opinion. By comparison, Kelly threw a lot of INTs in his first 2 years. I remember thinking that he came to the game drunk. He had 41 INTs. That's a lot, too. EDIT: Sorry, I read the wrong column in Kelly's stats, he only threw 28 INTs in his first two campaigns, but it still seemed like a lot. Makes 39 look even bigger, eh?

actually (to make it sound even better) his completion percentage was infinitely higher considering multiplying by zero results in zero
-
Sorry, saying you hope you are wrong, and admitting that you are are two different things. Just checked NFL.com Favre year 1 (with ATL) 5 attempts 0 completions 0 TDs 2 INTs year 2 (with GB) 471 attempts 302 completions 18 TDs 13 INTs year 3 (with GB) 522 attempts 318 completions 19 TDs 24 INTs 3 year total (just TDs to INTs since that was your point "just the facts") 37 TDs 39 INTs Just the facts, VA EDIT: Also, my point wasn't about Favre's TD-INT ratio (as I never mentioned TDs), it was simply about the high number of INTs. As you said, focus on only what you want to read

I am the "another poster" and have already admitted to messing up one part of the comment I made (regarding "no sacks"). Again, I'll say it VA because I have never seen that you admit that your opinions/facts might be wrong, I generally preface things like my previous post with "I may be wrong". But again, you apparently never are. I also responded to the comment you made about Wyche saying that JP had made boneheaded plays. I didn't see the interview. Did he say "Boneheaded"? or was that your interpretation? Just curious. I then defined what I meant by boneheaded as being glaring mental errors, rather than the more correctable physical errors. If Wyche did use the term boneheaded, I would see him defining it differently than what I did -- as I know that all QBs (as I stated in my previous post) regardless of experience sometimes run too soon, lock on to WRs ... etc. Even _____________________ (insert your opinion of the greatest QB ever) did those things in his last season in the NFL. BTW, regarding my last question from my original post (how many INTs has JP thrown?) only one pass TO MY RECOLLECTION (another way of saying "I could be wrong" -- try learning to type that, I makes you appear smarter if you are wrong, not to mention a bit humbler) has been thrown by JP that hit a defender first (other than MAYBE the flea flicker, though there is some decrepancy on that one) and that was against INDY. Unfortunately for INDY, it was thrown so hard that the player had it hit his hands before he could react, it was tipped up and could have been INTed, but wasn't. That's another way that JP is reminding people of Favre -- the hard throws. Fortunately for us, Favre looked horrible in his first few years, slinging INTs like they were going out of style, and JP has not (yet). EDIT: I also did not say that he made no mistakes. I simply listed three questions/areas of mistakes and stated that I did not think he made any of the three, "but I could be wrong" -- and I was wrong about the sacks. Which I have admitted a couple of times now.
-
Sorry, forgot about the sacks at Indy -- like I say in many of my posts "I could be wrong", doesn't seem to come out of your keyboard much. As far as boneheaded plays, running too early, locking on don't cut it in my book (maybe that's just my opinion) -- those are things that every QB is prone to do at times, even veterans. Forcing the ball into triple coverage, throwing the ball away on 4th down ... mental errors are what I consider boneheaded plays. I seem to recall (again, I could be wrong) that even the Indy announcers were commenting on how the only mistakes that JP made were physical, correctable mistakes, not the common rookie mental errors. That is what I was referring to.
-
as far as his development ... how many sacks has he given up? how many boneheaded plays? how many INTs? I believe the answer to all three (I could be wrong) is none. And he's now played more than one full game. I'll take it.
-
as I read the original post, I thought it was a positive reflection of JP. He didn't get sacked (except for the one called back on defensive holding which greatly impacts sacks -- BTW we would have challenged whether or not it was a safety, JP's leading foot was still in play, no way they call that a safety on replay), Holcomb stood in the pocket and waited for the rush -- not like Bledsoe, but he did get hit and sacked. JP made plays with his feet. Seeing the replays on TV (after being at the game), he would have been a fool if he didn't take the openings he was given. A scrambling QB who is being yelled at to look to throw more (like some of you want him to) would have tried to throw to the back of the endzone on his TD run. The TE came open, throw it. But he took the more sure thing. Smart play.

I was sitting in the Rockpile at the game on Saturday and had an ex-college, tried out for the pros guy sitting behind me who said that Favre is a first time HOFer (which he is) at least 250 times during the game ... true, but a bit excessive. He was talking to his buddy about how WM is fast enough to get to the corner on a run outside, Gates was doing it too, and then he said something about how Travis Henry could always do that ... I DON'T THINK SO.

How many dropped passes this game?
pkwwjd replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Being at the game last night, I thought Losman was absolutely on target with at least 11 of his 14 throws. Meaning, should have been caught balls. Two were throwaways and one was thrown hard and outside -- tough to catch. My first thought was also that if Moulds had caught the ball on the crossing pattern, he wouldn't have gotten hit. JMHO Losman was on target last night. -
the second (missed) 54 yarder was ALMOST in too. Just about scraped paint off of the upright

I finally watched the Bills-Colts game and
pkwwjd replied to Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was at least one throw where I had to back up TIVO 8 seconds to replay the pass a couple of times because I just didn't see it leave JP's hand until it was out of the picture. The boy throws a fast ball! And 9 times out of 10, it's right where it needs to be. Part of the dropsies by our team may be that they're still adjusting to a faster throw. I dunno? -
just as long as we don't hear an afternoon report of how long Jon Dorenbos can pee ...

There's almost no way to sync it up. Open air antenna, cable, and satellite have all different delay times. Someone who is way more attuned to the technology could explain it better than me, but I know for sure there is a difference so radio couldn't sync to the TV cuz it wouldn't know which to sync to.

or maybe Larry Kinnebrew -- we need a BIG load

speaking of guaranteed money ... how much of a signing bonus did he receive last year? anyone know the numbers? I'm sure he's guaranteed more than I'll make in my lifetime, just from this one contract.
-
What I just don't get is: TO nixed the trade to Baltimore last year TO signed a brand new 7(?) year deal upon arriving in Philly TO now says that contract (only 14% gone, some of which he was injured for) is inadequate He had more bargaining power last year. Period.
